Political Marriage (Part 2)

Countries make treaties by marrying off their representatives, superpower users, with the purpose of unifying their forces against a common enemy or for any other political reason.

" You both are getting married! " the principal words struck on both Damon and Justine like a bolt of lightning.

They both went silent for a while dumbfounded by what the principal said.

Justine breaks the silence first saying,

"Marriage?!, What are you talking about?"

"Who said that?" she continues.

"Both your country and Damon's have decided on that already-" the principal replies to her.

"Your family knows about this news as well. " the principal continues.

"Is this some kind of arranged marriage? What era do we live in?" Justine says that protesting against that decision.

Then she turns to Damon and says to him,

"Why are you staying quiet? Do you agree with this kind of marriage?"

Damon lowers his eyelids midway saying coldly,

"Sometimes you have to face the reality even if it's bitter."

"I am sure there is a reason why they took this kind of decision." he explains.

"So do you accept this kind of loveless marriage?" she asks him.

"There is no other way out." he replies to her with the same cold tone.

She slams the principal's table in anger and says,

" I won't accept this kind of reality "

" I received the notification earlier this morning, within 24 hours the news will be in every newspaper and broadcasting station all over the world" the principal comments.

Justine turns her gaze towards the principal which was full of anger, then she walks outside the room with wide steps banging the door behind her.

Damon excuses him and walks outside the room as calmly as he went in, just before he was about to open the door the principal said,

"Your life is going to be tough, my condolences."

As he went outside the room he banged the door behind him as well.

Damon walked through the corridor deep in thoughts till he reached his classroom.

Damon walks into the classroom, which was so quiet unlike usual, all students are staring at Damon as he walks to his seat, they were ecstatic to find out what happened to him.

Some of his classmates tried to ask him, but he didn't pay them any attention.

Damon sat back on his seat as if nothing happened at all, then the teacher entered and the class started.

At the same time, Justine was in her room trying to call her family.

She was sitting on the ground curled up in darkness.

Even though it was noon where the sun middles the sky, her room was pitch black as her curtains we're closed.

Only her face was visible in this darkness from the light of the phone she was holding.

Her face was full of worry signs as she was scrolling through her contact list.

While she is scrolling she finds "Mom" so she taps quickly on it to call her.

She puts the phone on her ear and the darkness swallows her worried face.

The few moments the phone was ringing felt like forever to her.

Her room illuminated with bright colors in her eyes when she heard her mother's voice as she answered the phone.

Justine felt that she had finally grabbed the robes that will take her out of this problem in this dark room.

"Justine, my daughter, How are you doing?" her mom says that.

"Mom, Did you know about that marriage matter?" Justine says.

Her mom starts sobbing for a while after she calmed down she says,

"I'm sorry, daughter-"

"We didn't have any choice but to do this" her mother continues

"What happened, mom?" Justine asks her mother

"The united kingdom had an alliance with many European countries, The USA sent ships that sailed through the Atlantic ocean and The Mediterranean Sea to do trade with those countries-" her mother explains.

"Since italy is the gate to the European countries that USA made allince with-

,

"Those ships docked at the italian docks But the government refused to let them pass and pomped them till they sank deep in the The Mediterranean Sea"

"The USA was so angry at italy so they prepared a large naval fleet to wage a war against Italy"

,

"On the other hand, Most European countries recruited troops raising a huge army that is marching south making its way to Italy"

,

"We didn't expect that Europe and America would join forces to wage a war against us"

,

"At the south, a naval fleet is attacking from water and from the north, an army is attacking from the land if we faced off, Italy would be wiped out and there will be much bloodshed"

,

"Fortunately the world's peace organizations intervened and suggested having Representatives from both countries get married to reduce the number of casualties"

,

"Since the USA always advocate for peace they couldn't turn down this suggestion"

,

"So you both were selected by the government of both countries as their representatives in this treaty"

,

"I am sorry, daughter, me and your father tried our best to negotiate with the government to change the representative but-"

"M-mom it's okay, I am sleepy so I will hang up now." Justine says that interrupting her mother, then she hangs up before she could say anything else.

As she hangs up the phone, her face emerged from the darkness once again but this time it was full of despair rather than worry.

Justine's mother calls her back as she was worried but Justine shuts down the phone and throws it on the ground in front of her.

She couldn't hold her tears anymore, so she let it all out without holding back.

Her weeping sound echoed throughout the whole dark room and even leaked into the corridor in front of her room that passersby could hear her.
