Chapter 23

7/4/2040 (Continued)

After an hour, the three of them arrived at the clinic and sat. Luca had calmed down, but he was still unresponsive. Jules, Thomas' mother, emerged.

"Follow me," she instructed. Luca was assisted into an examination room.

"All right, tell me what's going on," she said as she checked Luca's vitals. Everything that happened was explained by Thomas and Adrian.

"We're going to get an ultrasound," she explained.

"You need to lie down and pull up your shirt," Adrian said as he assisted Luca onto the examination table.

When cold gel touched Luca's belly, he hissed. "I'm sorry, hon," Jules apologized.

"It's fine," she says, "she's here to help." Thomas stated The doctor fiddled with the machine while gently touching Luca's stomach.

"I think I know why our Omega has been sick," she explained. The doctor adjusted the screen to allow them to see.

"Congratulations!" "You're expecting twins," she stated. Adrian and Thomas exchanged shocked looks. Luca began to cry. "Make sure he takes these," she said, handing them a bottle of prenatal vitamins. "And no stress,"

Adrian helped a tearful Luca into bed and covered him up when they returned.

"What are your plans?" Adrian inquired.

"To take this to Patrick's father," Thomas said, carrying a bag containing Luca's outfit from a week ago. Before leaving, Thomas kissed Adrian on the cheek. When Thomas arrived at Ken's office, he nearly lost it. Standing in front of him was the one person he despised at the time.

"Alpha Ken, I brought this because Omega Luca won't need it any time soon," Thomas explained as he placed the bag on the table.

"Thank you, Thomas," Ken said. "Too bad he won't be wearing it." "It would have looked so nice on him," Ken said. Thomas nodded and exited.

Patrick cast a curious glance at his father after Thomas had left.

"What was he talking about, dad?" he wondered.

"Look for yourself," Ken said. Patrick opened the bag and looked inside.

"What is this?" he asked, holding up the outfit.

"That's why he was so secretive last week," Ken explained.

"I'm perplexed," Patrick said.

"Did you forget you two had a date planned for that week?" he inquired. "Your Omega wanted something special, so I sent him and Thomas out to find something," he explained. "You ruined that moment by yelling at him and then getting drunk," he said. Everything came crashing back to him like a tidal wave.

"Shit, I messed up," he muttered under his breath.

7/5/2040

Luca awoke with a splitting headache that made him nauseated. He jumped out of bed and dashed into the restroom. He knelt and vomited bile into the toilet. His throat and head were in pain. Adrian entered through the open door.

"I'm sick," Luca said weakly, raising his head.

"It's part of being pregnant," Adrian explained as she wiped Luca's face and neck with a wet rag. Then Luca became quiet.

"I'm having his babies," he sobbed, covering his face with his hands. Adrian rubbed Luca's back as he vented.

Adrian stood by the door as Luca changed into clean clothes after he had calmed down.

"Let's get something simple in your belly," Adrian suggested.

"I'm not sure I'll be able to keep anything down," Luca admitted. He struggled to his feet and gripped the sink.

"For now, we'll try soup," Adrian said. They entered the kitchen, and Luca took a seat at the table. The kitchen door opened and Thomas walked in.

"Eating without me?" he joked.

"I was just about to fix soup," Adrian said. "Our friend here had a sick tummy," he said.

"Have you taken your vitamins and other medicine?" Thomas asked.

"No," Luca said, shaking his head. "Not yet,"

"I can get it," Thomas said. "Where are the bottles?" he asked.

"On the nightstand," Luca said.

While Thomas went to get Luca's medication, Adrian made tomato soup.

"You should eat before you take these," Thomas said as he reentered the kitchen and placed them on the table.

"I'm making enough soup for everyone," Adrian explained.

"What kind?" Thomas inquired.

"Tomato, but low salt," Adrian explained.

"That's fine," Thomas responded. "We all need to eat healthy," he explained. Adrian sat down and placed three bowls of soup on the table.

"Are you aware that there are two pregnant Omegas in this house?" With a grin, Thomas said.

"You have each other," Luca pointed out. "I have no one," he admitted.

"That is not true." "You've got us," Thomas said.

"But it isn't the same," Luca grumbled.

"I know you're sad and angry right now," Adrian said. "But it will get better," he said.

When the weekend came to an end, Luca was tired of wallowing and decided to consider his and his children's future.

"I'd like to live in the main house," he explained. "I believe I need to move on," Luca stated.

"Are you going to inform Patrick that you're pregnant?" Adrian inquired.

"I will eventually," he said, "but first I need to get back on my feet."

"Do you still have feelings for him?" Thomas inquired.

"Yes, but he hurt me," Luca pointed out. He explained, "I can't be with someone who has betrayed my trust."

Luca went over to his house to retrieve the rest of his belongings. Thomas accompanied him in case of trouble.

"What are you doing?" Patrick asked to leave the room.

"I'm leaving," Luca declared.

"Why?" "How about us?" he inquired.

"There is no such thing as us," Luca stated.

"You take the light stuff, and I'll take the heavy stuff," Thomas explained. "You can't afford to hurt yourself or the babies," he said.

Patrick stood there, mouth agape. Did he just hear them right?

"Babies?" "What are you going on about?" he inquired.

"Yes, babies," Luca replied. "I'm pregnant, and they're yours," he said as he picked up a bag and walked away. "Be thankful that he told you," Thomas said before leaving with the heavier items. The door slammed, and Patrick's world crumbled around him.
