Chapter 17

It was after five in the afternoon when Camilla began to wake up. Alex wasn't next to her, which she noticed as soon as she put her hand where he had been before and what she found was only the sheets already cold.

Camilla sat up in bed and searched her cell phone to see what time it was. Alex had closed the curtains, so she couldn't even tell the time just by looking out the window. The curtains, which had not appeared before, were now visible: in fact, they looked more like a new wall, all dark gray, making the room almost pitch dark.

Alex had gone downstairs for a glass of water and his assistant called, saying that 'Miss Wilson's' attorney had been in touch regarding Alex's latest statements about their 'alleged' breakup. Alex hung up the phone and was fuming. How dare Claire play the victim, after all she did?
