Chapter 60- Bad Luck?

" What happened? Are you alright?" Anna said as they helped the girl up.

With a sudden turn of events, the girl turned to Delilah and slapped her, Delilah's eyes to grew cold.

"Hey! What was that for?" Anna got mad, but Delilah stopped her from attacking the girl.

The girl's hand stung Delilah's cheek, leaving a burning sensation that echoed the dangerous gleam in her eyes.

The girl's words, sharp and venomous, cut through the air," You are such bad luck! I passed before you and I got hit in the head with a ball" the girl screamed.

The whole field became silent, most of the students looked at Delilah with disdainful looks.

Delilah's mind reeled, her initial anger morphing into a simmering sarcasm. She didn't know this girl, but she could tell the girl held a grudge against her, but to be slapped in front of everyone was a humiliation she wouldn't tolerate anymore!

As the girl continued to rant, Delilah's anger solidified into a cold, calculating resolve. She wouldn't stoop to the girl's level and engage in a public brawl. Instead, she would use her words, her wit, to dismantle the girl's accusations and expose her for the idiot she truly was.

"Bad luck?" Delilah's voice, though calm, held a dangerous edge. "Or perhaps you were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time?" she asked, her eyes locking with the girl's. "After all, it was you who chose to walk in front of me just as the ball came flying."

The girl faltered, her anger momentarily replaced by shame, she was really hoping to insult her. Delilah pressed her advantage, her voice gaining strength. "And let's not forget," she continued, "that we were the one who helped you up after you fell. A gesture of kindness you seem to have conveniently forgotten."

The crowd, initially stunned by the unexpected turn of events, began to murmur among themselves. Delilah saw uncertainty creep into the girl's eyes, her initial conviction faltering.

"So, tell me," Delilah said, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "am I really bad luck, or are you simply trying to deflect blame for your own stupidity?"

" So…" the girl was about to scream when Delilah said,

" So, it implies that your thinking is not pure—good does not coexist with evil, does it? You should not be expecting any good, especially with a mind like yours."

The girl opened her mouth to retort, but no words came out. Delilah had turned the tables, using the girl's own words against her. The crowd, sensing the shift in power, began to turn against the girl, their whispers now filled with disapproval.

With a final, scathing look, Delilah turned and calmly walked away, leaving the girl standing alone, her face flushed with shame.

Delilah picked up the ball and walked towards the court. As she approached, they created a path for her. The boys looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to throw the ball back.

Delilah's eyes swept over the boys, then she lazily tossed the ball into the hoop, earning a gasp from the students.
