The Letter

Bodil wakes up in the bed she was brought to by Vei the night before. The same bed she had been using for the past few weeks. She turns to lie on her back and stares at the canopy above her. 

"Well, last night was a disaster." She sighs. 

"Good morning, Your Highness." Bodil looks over to the door.

'A new maid. I guess the other one was probably punished because of me.'

"Would you like me to prepare a bath for you before breakfast?" The young maid asks.

'What is the point of bathing and changing if I am not even leaving this room. I would rather stay in bed all day.'

"There is also a new dress that will be delivered in a few minutes, Your Highness."

"A new dress? Why?" Bodil finally utters.

"You are invited to breakfast, Your Highness." Another young woman answers. She is standing at the threshold and holding a gorgeous royal blue dress in her hands.
