Where the Nightmare has Taken Them

Claude blinked several times to clear his vision. He could hear Nicole breathing deeply beside him still fast asleep. He breathed a sigh of relief. His sister was safe and that man who calls himself father did not do anything to her. 

He sat up and looked around, he knew this bedroom. He knew this room. This was one of the bedrooms in the Lake House. 

Then it clicked. 

His…father, always wanted this house. On more than one occasion, he heard him saying, "I will be the owner of this lake house someday." 

But it will never happen.

He was advised not to listen in when the adults were talking when he was still a child. Sadly, it was one of those things that he never outgrew. His mom knew about it, and now she makes sure he knows what the adults have been talking about. That is why he knew that he would get nothing.
