She Who Fought Back

Gads, that felt good. Who knew that punching a person would feel a whole different level of satisfaction? I also heard something break when my fist connected with his face. My fist felt a bit sore but I could care less. 

The feeling that he finally shut up felt good. 

"You broke my nose. You broke my fucking nose! You bitch!" Ray was furious. I could see in his eyes that he was not expecting that a woman would be able to deck him. Especially me.

He must have thought that I would still be the same person I was when I left. He was sorely mistaken on that part. These past years I was away, I learned to defend myself and my kids. Jane made sure that I could be left alone. After all, the Highlands were no place for a woman. 

Ray looked at me, and I  could not help but laugh at his face. It was bleeding. His pristine undershirt was bloodied and the way he was covering his nose meant I did a good deal of damage to it.
