Chapter 22

"Anything." Jake simply said.

"Anything?" Mia asked, hesitantly.

"Of course. Is something wrong?" He asked.

"No, nothing's wrong. I was just wondering about last night." Mia said as she laid her head on his chest.

"Last night? Well, what do you want to know?" Jake asked as he played with her hair.

"Well, I wanted to know if you did it as a form of pity. I know I told you about my break up with Sean and I don't want you to do things you don't want to, just because you think it will make me feel better." The sadness and uneasiness were very noticeable in her tone and she knew he could hear it.

"Mia look at me." He said in a stern tone. She, however, decided not to listen to him. She was afraid of what he might say. What if it was just out of pity? Would she be able to live with the shame of one of her closest friends sleeping with her because she was too pathetic to notice that her relationship with a boyfriend of two years was fake? She'd rather die.
