Chapter 3

The bartender brought out Carly's order, throwing a wink at her, and of course Carly winked back sexily as she walked majestically to where Emily was sitting. "Here, I need you wasted", she said, as she passes the drink to Emily, "You need to boost the confidence." Emily looked at her in disbelief, "You are a bad friend, you know that right?", she asks accepting the drink, Carly just laughs cunningly. Carly went into the crowd and dragged Emily with her, "Let's dance", Emily just followed sipping her drink. They danced together till someone came to Carly's back and whispered in her ears, "Hey there", this tickled Carly as she turned around to see who it was. She was stunned to see a really handsome fellow with gorgeous features. She just stood transfixed, Emily knew she had lost Carly, so she heads back to the counter to order more drinks for herself. "I'm Caleb, what is your name?", the guy asked Carly, "Uhm, ca.... Carly", she stuttered still stunned. Caleb chuckled, "Nice to meet you Carly, you are really pretty", Carly was still trying to process everything, "How can he call me pretty when he looks like that", she screamed in her head. Caleb seemed to be enjoying himself, he knew he was good looking so he wasn't surprised by the reaction, he liked how he was obviously making her blush and he was happy because he genuinely liked her at first sight, so it was a win for him. "I want to get to know you more, can we get out of here, I know a good spot around the corner", Caleb said, wishing she really accepts. "Uhm, yeah but I have to inform my friend first, I'm not alone", Carly responded, with all kinds of wild thoughts going through her head. She made her way to where Emily was seated, Emily smiled knowing what Carly was coming for, "Emily!", Carly called, "Don't worry I know why you are here, I'll be heading home soon, have fun", Emily said to Carly. Carly was really happy and hugged Emily, then headed back to Caleb as they headed out. Emily just drank up her drink and as she was about to head out, someone approached her, "Hi, I'm Joshua, what is your name?". Emily looked at the guy, he was cute and tall with blonde hair that looked white, she really wasn't in the mood but she decided to engage in the conversation anyway. "I'm Emily", she answered briskly like she was in a hurry to leave, Joshua got the memo and decided to ask her out, "Would you mind me taking you out of here?, let's go somewhere more quiet". Emily looked at his with suspicion, she was definitely not landing in his bed. Joshua chuckled, "It's not what you think, there is a restaurant in the hotel, let's just go there, I'm kinda hungry". Emily looked at her phone, it was past 10, how is someone hungry at past 10, "Oh well, so long as it's an open space", she thought. She nodded and stood up to follow him, that's when she realized that she was a little drunk, she didn't allow it to show obviously, she didn't want to be taken advantage of.

They got to the restaurant and Joshua ordered Mac and cheese with milk, "What is he? A baby? Why milk?", Emily thought as she watched him order, "Would you like to have something?", Joshua asked her, "Uh, yeah Mac and cheese too but with water please", she didn't want an upset tummy that night. Joshua's phone rang, "Callum, where are you?", Joshua asked genuinely worried. After Callum left the party, he didn't go straight home, because Joshua

asked his guard and he said Callum had not gotten home. "I went for a long drive, I needed air. Where are you? I don't want to go home yet", Callum replied. Joshua looked at Emily, who was cluelessly munching away on her food, "I'm with a friend at the restaurant in the hotel, you can come there", Callum hung up to come to the hotel. "Sorry about that, that's my closest friend, Callum, he's coming here now." Emily just nodded as she was too occupied in the food, she didn't realize she was that hungry, or was it the alcohol? She didn't know.

Callum was already on his way to the hotel, "I wonder what chick he's with this time", Callum thought as he knew what kind of a player his friend was. He arrived at the hotel and headed straight to the restaurant, he saw Joshua immediately and went to him, he noticed the lady, "Red head?" He thought as he remembered the pretty girl he saw at the party. When he got closer, he realized it was the same lady, he wondered how someone as calm as that followed Joshua. Then he saw she was eating, so happily and absent mindedly, he chuckled in his head, "She looks like a cute chipmunk", he thought as her both cheeks were filled with food. "Emily?", Joshua called her, she looked up to answer but was stopped in her tracks as she saw Callum, such intense silver eyes and silver hair, he looked too hot to handle as his chest bulged out of the grey T-shirt he was wearing. She thought Joshua was cute, but Callum is "Handsomely cute", she thought. "This is my friend Callum, Callum? Emily", Joshua introduced them. Callum stretched his hand to greet her, "Good evening", he smiled, swooned Emily could only mutter , "Evening". She snapped out of the daze, "It's not like I want him, why am I bothered?", she deceived herself. "Do you want to eat anything?", Joshua asked Callum, Callum wasn't hungry so he just opted for a drink and sat next to Joshua. "I won the bet today, I guess you owe me ten thousand pounds", Joshua reminded Callum, "But I didn't get laid", Callum protested. "The main point is you saw someone you found attractive, at least now we know you are still human", Joshua replied, "Fine, I'll wire it to you later", Callum accepted his defeat. He didn't want to dwell much on the topic, especially with the fact that the main character was right in front of them. Emily on the other hand didn't pay attention to the conversation going on as she was rounding up her meal, she had finished eating and felt fulfilled and happy, "Thank you for the meal, it really hit the spot", she said to Joshua. "Oh, it's alright, I'm glad you enjoyed the meal....., I'm sorry we couldn't talk properly, can I get your number, maybe we could meet up some other time", Joshua responded with sincere hope in his eyes. Emily saw there was no harm in giving her number to him, so she did, "See you around", she said, as she stepped out to get a cab back home.

"Do you like her?", Callum blatantly asked Joshua, "What is it to you? Do you like her?, Joshua asked back immediately. "My dad already set up a meeting with my supposed "fiancee", I'm to meet with her tomorrow", Callum finally broke the news to Joshua. "Damn! That was quick, I thought you had the option of choosing who you wanted as your partner?", Joshua asked, surprised at the action of Callum's family. "I'm sure this was the old witch's idea, she's the only reason all these is happening in the first place", Joshua complained. "Yeah, this was Catherine's idea", Callum replied, sounding tired. Catherine is Callum's step mom, he blames her for his birth mom's death because she was married a month after his mother's death.....
