Esther's eyes narrowed, her head cocked to one side as she tried to pinpoint the source of the commotion. "What the fuck is happening outside?" she asked, her voice low and urgent.
Michael, who had been lounging on the couch, looked up at her with a mixture of curiosity and amusement. "Why? What's wrong?" he asked, his tone nonchalant.
Esther's expression turned irritated. "I heard noises outside. Shouting and laughing. What's going on?"
Michael's grin faltered for a moment before he shrugged. "It's just my mom and Mirabel acting under the influence of alcohol. They're just having a good time."
Esther's eyes widened in surprise. "What?
Lilly?" she asked, her voice incredulous.
Michael nodded, his expression sheepish. "Yeah, they're pretty wasted. But don't worry, they're just having fun. They're not hurting anyone."
Esther's face twisted in concern. "But what about Lilly? Is she okay?"
