Amy's brother, Alessandro, was a dedicated detective in Italy, determined to bring down the notorious Maranzano crime family. He had been investigating them for years, gathering evidence and building a case against them. But the Maranzanos were ruthless and powerful, and they would stop at nothing to silence him.

One fateful night, Alessandro was closing in on a major bust, gathering evidence at a Maranzano-owned warehouse on the outskirts of town. But as he was leaving the scene, he was ambushed by Maranzano's henchmen. They shot him in the back, leaving him to die in the streets.

The Maranzanos, however, didn't stop there. They conspired with corrupt officials in the Italian police department to cover up the murder, framing Alessandro as a drug dealer who had gotten in over his head. The police department, eager to avoid a scandal, went along with the story, and Alessandro's reputation was tarnished forever.
