The things i felt when she breathed my name was so hard to comprehend. It was strange, how i wanted and wished for her to continue saying my name like that.

Strange how my heart skipped beats and.....Oh shit! Whatever the hell was trying or thinking of happening shouldn't even dare.

"Gideon?" Are you still with me?" She asked gently but i...

"Yes " I snapped and regretted it as fast as i said it, when i heard her gasp of hurt and shock.

"If you called this morning for the sole purpose of reminding me of just how much of a cold-hearted jerk you can be, I'm not interested. I've got more important work to do than sitting down to listen and bear with you and your jerk ish ways thank you very much."

She said firmly. Confidence and annoyance brimming in her voice and i took a moment to wonder where the shy and gentle Madison from two days ago had gone. But I would be lying if i said i didn't enjoy this fiery side of her at all.

Matter of fact, I was beginning to like all sides of her that she was willing to show me,and the ones i had already seen. I was quiet for some time, still lost in my thoughts, leading her to assume it was another one of my

" jerk-ish ways ".

She sighed softly, probably giving up on trying to talk to me.

"I don't have time for this. Talk to you later...."

"No wait! Hold on. I'm..... I'm sorry. " I said quickly and she sighed again, but didn't hang up anymore.

"I'm sorry." I apologized once again, something that i have been doing ever since i met her.

"It's just.... I've been feeling frustrated of late, and i took that out on you when i shouldn't have. "

"She gave a fake sniffle and i had to stop myself from rolling my eyes. Dramatic much?

"All is forgiven. But are you okay? You said you were frustrated. And yes,why the sudden call? In fact, how did you get my number? "She fired her questions at me in rapid succession.

"One question at a time Doll." I said, practically amused and my heart felt warm at her concern.

"oh. Sorry." Her voice low and soft in her apology and I smiled at how cute she sounded.

"This is a first."I said with a chuckle

"what's a first? "she asked curiously

"Usually ever since i met you, I've been the one apologizing. It feels refreshing to hear an apology from Madison Wells of all people." I teased. Which,was yet another big surprise.

I don't tease anyone, and neither does anyone tease me. Except they do not value their very existence. I think this lady is a witch,a cute innocent little witch that was out to get me and unfortunately for me, i was letting her.

"Hmph."She scoffed. "I'm not the one who's always a jerk."

"true talk."I chuckled

"so....Are you okay?"she asked again

"yeah, thanks. "

"You sure? "

"yeah i am. Thanks "

"Good. Next question. why did you call and how did you get my number? "

"I called to ask you something important and as for how i got your number? Let's just say i have my ways. Ways that I'm not willing to share with anyone,not even you."

"So you are a stalker now? I am not really surprised really. I wouldn't put it past you." She said suspiciously

"suit yourself to think whatever you want to Doll. It's a free world" I said with a wicked smirk

"ugh! Why are we having this conversation again? "

"because.... I..."

"You wanted to ask for something important. I know. Get on with it. "

"Woah! Impatient much? "I teased

"Gideonn...."She said in warning and i knew it was time to get serious.

"Fine. So, my..... Partners... Yeah let's go with that. We are having a gala this evening and i wanted you to...."

"I'm not playing escort for anyone if that's what you are asking. And besides, I've got a lot of work to do. "

She said, cutting me off and i was beginning to get annoyed.

"I wanted you as my date, don't put words into my mouth without even listening to what i have to say. "

"oh! I'm sorry. " She apologized and i sighed. Already forgiving her. Because,how could i not forgive her when she apologized like that?

"It's okay Doll. So, what do you say? You up for it? "I asked again, hating how hopeful i sounded but it is what it is.

"I'm not sure. Because like i said earlier,i do have a lot of work to do. But let's see how today goes. If I'm not able to make it, I'll let you know."

I chuckled softly. Not buying any of her excuses.

"See you at seven. i will come pick you up."

"Wait but i haven't agreed....." She started to say but i hung up before she could complete her sentence.
