Chapter Eighteen

Gideon pov

"Aren't you going to answer that? "Madison asked finally, after my phone rang for the fifth time ever since we got to the restaurant.

"It's probably nothing important. And it would be rude to answer calls when..."I said trying to wave it off dismissively but it didn't work

"They wouldn't call you up to five times if it wasn't important. Just answer it to see what the matter is, I'm fine really. "

I sighed softly in resignation. There was absolutely no way i could refuse when she was looking at me and asking like that.

I brought out my phone to check and my whole body went taut when i saw Marcus name on the screen. Marcus rarely called except during emergencies. Serious emergencies. Even then, he reaches me through text messages.

I checked my messages and true to what i thought, he had already sent a text..... lot of texts actually. One of them caught my attention and caught it squarely, making my blood boil in agitation and anticipation.

Marcus text : "where the hell are you bastard? We have a fucking Meeting now! And you are not fucking picking up! Don't blame me if Tyler ends up blowing your head off. Come straight to the house immediately you see this message now! "

Shit! What the fuck is happening? I'll deal with this bastard later, but for now. I looked up at Madison, thinking about what to say to her to make her understand why i had to leave so suddenly but she already had an understanding smile on her face before i could even open my mouth to say anything .

"Turned out to be an emergency didn't it? "she asked, her voice soft with understanding and acceptance.

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair in aggravation "I'm so sorry Doll, something came up and i.... Shit! Baby I'm so sorry. "

"it's okay Gideon, I'm not angry really. This is an emergency for you and you need to be there, I totally understand. We can always have dinner another time. "she sounded very understanding and i felt more guilty and angry than before.

I was always the one messing things up between us and she.... she just.... Ugh! Fuck! This meeting better be something really important and worth my time because i swear, i was more than ready to actually kill someone and Marcus was the first on my list.

"You promise you'll have dinner with me another time? "I asked and though i didn't want to, I sounded very hopeful. She must have heard that hopeful note in my voice because she smiled so softly and amusedly before nodding her head in consent.

I smiled back -for the second time today, that was a lot for me -and waved the waiter so i could settle our bill and we left.

"Well, this is it ."Madison said once we got to her hotel. Drawing in a deep sigh before looking at me "thanks for today Gideon, i really appreciate it."

"Don't thank me Doll. I'm supposed to be the one asking if I'm forgiven remember? "

"yeah that's true "

"so, am i forgiven? "

"i think it will be unfair of me not to forgive you. So yeah, you are forgiven. "

I chuckled, "thanks "

"yeah.... uh.... I... better go.. "But she didn't make a move to leave and quite frankly, i didn't want her to leave either but i had a meeting to get to.

"So, I'll see you later then? "I asked hopefully

"of course, bye. "

I watched her get safely into the hotel before driving off. Then I called Marcus

"where the fuck are you? "he hissed as soon as he picked up his fucking phone

"on my way "I replied, my voice devoid of any emotion "and someone better be fucking dead. "
