Sleepless Night

Charlene, you have a special gift and a significant destiny to fulfill," Shaman Dean's voice echoed in Charlene's mind. Confused, she sighed as she realized it was already nighttime and everyone else was asleep, but sleep had abandoned her.

"What did he mean? What destiny was he referring to?" she asked, tossing and turning in bed.

"Be

patient, Charlene. Time will reveal all. For now, sleep," a voice in her head replied, and she immediately drifted off to sleep as if hypnotized.

"You don't deserve to live. You killed him, so why should I spare your life?"

Miss Killerney half-yelled, holding a silver dagger and glaring hatefully at Blake.

"I didn't kill him, Mum, and you know it. Please, just let me go," he replied tearfully.

"I hate you!" she yelled, bringing the dagger closer to his chest.

"Argh!" he yelled, waking up in a cold sweat, his heart pounding frantically.

"Another nightmare, Mum, please leave me alone. I already apologized. You know I didn't kill him, and you were aware of the curse before conceiving. Why do you keep blaming me?" he asked, hurtfully linking his thoughts with his mother's.

"Evil child, I don't know how you can do this, but it's a waste of time. You will continue to have these nightmares until death. There is no peace for the wicked," she said cruelly. For the first time in years, he felt his eyes well up with tears. He immediately disconnected their thoughts, not wanting Mrs. Killerney to discover that she had made him cry again.

Hazel woke up suddenly, feeling a sense of unease. "O

h no! Is he hurt?"

she mumbled, close to tears.

Whenever she woke up at night and felt uneasy, it meant something was wrong with Blake.

"For me, if not for anything else. I love you so much. Trust me, I care deeply," she mumbled, unsure if he could hear her. She smiled lightly when the uneasiness subsided. "He's finally asleep," she mumbled, picking up a novel to read since it was almost dawn and she couldn't fall back asleep.

After ensuring her roommate and everyone else were asleep, Melanie quietly left the room and teleported to a forest. "You're here sooner than I expected," an old man said as soon as he saw her.

"Greetings. I might be busy tomorrow, so since everyone else is asleep, I decided to come see you," Melanie said in one breath, and the man smiled.

"Why are you here exactly?" he asked.

"Why ask when you already know?"

she snapped, and he lazily smiled.

"I won't tolerate your rudeness, Melanie," he said, his voice echoing. She bowed apologetically.

"I'm sorry. I came to find out how to carry out my mission and why I was chosen instead of someone else," she said remorsefully.

"Melanie, it is your fate. When the time is right, the power and the detailed instructions will be revealed to you. But for now, you must leave. Your nosy roommate is almost awake," the old man said before disappearing

A student awoke suddenly and began whispering to herself.

"Finally, Shaman is gone. No more stupid rules. Good riddance," she mumbled inwardly.

The joy in her heart was boundless. Ironically, she had been one of the students crying during Shaman's farewell. An idea popped into her head, and she let out a sinister smile. "Let's see who will try to stop me," she grinned.

"My lord," a young boy respectfully bowed as a middle-aged man entered his throne room majestically.

"Any news?" his master asked.

"Yes, Lord. In less than a week, it will be a full moon, and Shaman Dean's time will be up," the boy said, a vicious smile playing on his lips.

"So?" his master asked.

"So, we will strike and perhaps finally eradicate their species for good. Then we will rule the world forever," he replied confidently, expecting applause.

"Oh, brilliant indeed. Davien, are you this foolish, or are you just pretending to be stupid? How many times must I tell you? We cannot simply attack like that. A betrayer must invite us," the master snapped, and the building began to shake.

"Sorry, Master," the boy begged, falling face-flat.

"I should end you, but considering your importance, you are spared. Now, get lost!" the master said icily.

It was finally dawn, a new day, and a new opportunity to embrace endless possibilities. Another chance to do better than yesterday.

"Today, please be good. May everyone and everything I encounter favor me," Melanie muttered to herself before getting out of bed.

"Where were you last night?"

Ava asked, standing with her hands on her hips.

"Mind your own business," Melanie rolled her eyes as she made her way to the bathroom.

"Melanie, just so you know, I won't give up until I find out," Ava said coldly before leaving the room.

"Damn," Melanie cursed.
