Soon word spread among Griffindor and everywhere I go there was someone who came to me to ask how I did it. Finally tired of all the nagging I told them that only if they join pranking club I will explain it to them and Twins got swamped with work.
Soon it was the weekend and I woke up in the morning refreshed. The weather looked perfect for flying outside. No, it's not flying class yet but we are having It on Monday and I don't want to get famous like Neville so I asked Fred to train me to fly beforehand. So here I am on a Saturday morning at five on the training ground where the Gryffindor team was having a meet. I still have good communication with Pommy so when I asked for hot coffee, a cup of coffee popped near me, I thanked pommy knowing she can hear me while watching Fred and George train.
Soon their training ended and twins landed near me.
"Here you go, use my broom and mount up" One of them said while giving me their comet 360 broom.
"Are you sure? It could be damaged while training me" I asked unsure if I should use it or not.
"Just go ahead it is not costly at all and school brooms are just garbage" he replied.
"Sure"
The most basic thing to learn before riding the broom was to summon it to us. We did the most basic broom hoisting training shown in the movie. It was necessary to learn as it will recall our broom to us in midair if we ever fell off it.
Next, they told me how to properly mount on my broom and how to hold it properly so that it will be easier for me to guide it in the right direction. Steering a broom was much easy as you just have to change your bodyweight for small turns but for large turns I have to pull the broom in that direction while adjusting myself for the drag it creates.
Soon I was flying in the air twenty feet above the ground. George also came up with me and we played catch with quaffle with Oliver Wood
"You will make a great chaser jack maybe you can apply next year after you have your own broom" Oliver said while watching me zooming on broom.
"Maybe if can join this year, will you take me in team" I asked
"You can make it to reserve for sure as most of the time they are taken out"He replied.
"How many reserves do you have"
"Not even one, for now, Last year most of our chasers have graduated so all reserves made in the team and we still have to select reserve candidates and find us a new seeker."
"Okay I will ask McGonagall if I can join the team as a reserve this year" I said while giving broom back to Fred.
"It would be great if you can join the team this year Jack" George replied while we head towards Great hall for breakfast.
The weekend passed by and it was the day for flying class. As Harry was going to make it in the team, I planned to follow him and impress McGonagall with my skills. Flying comes to me more as easily as breathing. I can even say I have a real knack for flying.
So in the morning, we were all sitting in the great hall for breakfast. while having half-fried eggs for breakfast with apples.
"Typical," said Harry darkly. "Just what I always wanted. To make a fool of myself on a broomstick in front of Malfoy."
You don't know that you'll make a fool of yourself," said Ron reasonably. "Anyway, I know Malfoy's always going on about how good he is at Quidditch, but I bet that's all talk."
Malfoy certainly did talk about flying a lot. He complained loudly about first years never getting on the house Quidditch teams and told long, boastful stories that always seemed to end with him narrowly escaping Muggles in helicopters. He wasn't the only one, though, the way Seamus Finnigan told it, he'd spent most of his childhood zooming around the countryside on his broomstick. Even Ron would tell anyone who'd listen about the time he'd almost hit a hang glider on Charlie's old broom. Everyone from wizarding families talked about Quidditch constantly.
"Shut it all of you" I shouted "Let me enjoy my breakfast in peace"
I was already tired of all the bosting of these purebloods for the last two days and had enough of it. Soon everyone shut up and let me enjoy in peace as they have seen what I have done with Quirrell. Having a bit of notoriety is beneficial be it in a muggle school or wizarding school.
Neville had never been on a broomstick in his life like me because his grandmother had never let him near one. Privately, I felt she'd had good reason because Neville managed to have an extraordinary number of accidents even with both feet on the ground.
Hermione was a little stressed too about the flying lesson and bored me with all the tips and tricks of flying when she saw me flying on Sunday afternoon as if I was her guinea pig. Though some of them helped, the rest of them was utter trash for example how to roll on the ground if you fall from great heights.
Suddenly, A barn owl brought Neville a small package from his grandmother. He opened it excitedly and showed them a glass ball the size of a large marble, which seemed to be full of white smoke.
"It's a Remembrall!" he explained. "Gran knows I forget things — this tells you if there's something you've forgotten to do. Look, you hold it tight like this and if it turns red — oh…" His face fell, because the Remembrall had suddenly glowed scarlet, "…you've forgotten something…."
"Maybe she wants to remind you not to have too much breakfast before flying class" I said and immediately Remembrall turn colorless.
Neville looked at his plate which was filled to the brim with sausages, bacon, and eggs, and thanked me for reminding him.
"No problem pass some sausages to me I am famished"
Neville was passing me some of his untouched sausages when Draco Malfoy, who was passing the Gryffindor table, snatched the Remembrall out of his hand.
Harry and Ron jumped to their feet. They were half hoping for a reason to fight Malfoy, but Professor McGonagall, who could spot trouble quicker than any teacher in the school, was there in a flash.
"What's going on?"
"Malfoy's got my Remembrall, Professor."
Scowling, Malfoy quickly dropped the Remembrall back on the table. "Just looking," he said, and he sloped away with Crabbe and Goyle behind him.
Somethings just never change..
