When Kurayami, Shin, and Rebellion entered Azazel's lab they saw Azazel holding the Realm of Shadows while he was busy messing with his metal stores. He had made a few deals with the Greek gods to get more raw material in exchange for making sacred gear for the Gods, children, and their soldiers.
Of course, he did not do it for free and the Greeks and Shinto gods had been busy offering him many materials, techniques, and even some of their secrets all to have a chance to have one of his creations. He was just that good that even gods of creation wanted some.
He was going to do it, but he would first finish his current commission for his friend. He was already planning to make artificial sacred gear for Azrael from this as thanks for his help in becoming a semi-super fallen angel. Azazel was a man who repaid his debts in full and Azrael was his friend, even if they got mad at him for his jokes with Gabriel it was still fun.
At this moment he was making a necklace from a lot of Stygian Iron and some high-quality Bone Steel, but he was planning on asking Kurayami to supply the fire with shadow flames to match the Death and Shadow energy of the realm.
This was perfect for Azrael because the Land of Shadows was full of Shadow and Death mana and with his Divine Spark, it might even evolve and allow him to awaken his Divinity.
He thought back to what the gods had offered so he would make them Longinous level sacred gears worthy of them. He was all smiles as even Zeus had offered his own Lightning Bolt as a source of power for new sacred gear and Azazel was planning to pull all the stops to make it as good as possible.
He was a craftsman, researcher, and scientist first and foremost and he would not do a sloppy job even for the asshole of Zeus. Even the Dwarves of Asgard wanted to come here to Grigori to learn from the one who was mocked in Heaven for his supposed impossible ideas. He had a shit-eating grin on his face as he was still laughing that Michael wanted him to make him one too.
He did not know that the Heaven system was in trouble as losing two Longinous permanently was a low blow to it as it was not made to deal with such an issue. It might lead to trouble with the souls of the dead or who knows how many glitches it would cause.
When he noticed Kurayami, Shin, and Rebellion who he was still proud of till this day. She was his best work and in a way, he thought of himself as her father. It was like God and the angels which he knew why God liked to make things like him.
"Governor-General, how can this lowly researcher help."
He even bowed to make it as funny as possible. Kurayami made a darker pair of glasses from the void and now he could barely see anything out of them. His Infinite Sign eyes ascended up a level and his level of perception was insane.
As a Dragon God, he could sue them for days, but his head would get tired from all of the stimulation.
"Stop that, I am not Governor General yet. Still, I like the sound of that title Azazel. I wanted to give you this, what do you think you can do with it?"
Kurayami tossed the void ball to Azazel who caught it. He could feel the crazy amount of Holy Essence that would make even Gods of light and sun jealous. He already was brainstorming ideas for his next sacred gear even though he was hard at work already on many commissions.
Kurayami explained how he got that from within his sacred gears.
"Well, one thing I just learned after awakening my Divine Spark is that God of the Bible put a will of himself inside the sacred gears in case some rules were broken. After I killed it I collected the Essence of it in that. I now wish I got it alive for you."
Azazel grinned as he started laughing.
"IF, there is a will of God traped in every sacred gear I have got to get a still alive one. I guess I can use this in the sacred gear I am working on for Zeus or something. While you're here, I got an idea for a sacred gear for me personally, I need Typhon soul for my own Longinous level sacred gear, or weapon."
Kurayami remembered that Azazel had just perfected his Downfall Dragon Spear and he already waned another one.
"What about Fafnir?"
"Who said I am giving him up? If I can make it work as you did, I will be one of the strongest around. I will be like a final boss of Grigori in case of war and trust me, it will be awesome. Even though the end goal is power, I just want to make it, the process is the real fun."
Kurayami shook his head at Azazel's plans, but friends think alike. He too wanted to see it happen and he was going to pull all the stops to help his friend achieve it.
"You are quite insane Azazel. I like that about you? Although that was one thing Rebellion wants you to check out her new form. As you did forge her she respects your input as her maker."
She nodded.
"The closest thing I got to a 'father' and maker is you Azazel?"
"Like me and God. I am glad about it, now what kind of changes did you go through?"
When she returned to her dual sword form and saw just how large her new blades were made him excited to see just how much she had changed. He picked her up and placed her on his work table to run his tests.
"Rebellion, you don't mind if I run a few tests right?"
The silhouette of her human form formed above her body and she shook her head. Azazel was her creator and as such he was the only other male and person who she would ever allow to touch her. Not even the girls could touch her in blade form as a weapon as that was her one rule.
"Not at all."
He checked out her new form and ran a scan and even checked out her material as her blade was made from an alloy of many metals. What he found out made him even more proud of himself. Over time the metal had formed a totally new material with the influence of Kurayami on her and the fact she ate Backkbitter as well.
Azazel rushed to his notes and he recorded all the materials, and processes he had used to make her all those years ago. He planned to see if he could recreate a weapon to use with his sacred gear and now his ambition was stirred. Why settle for weakness when he could get stronger?
He was also the one with the most talent in Grigori besides Kurayami, Raynare, and Esdeath. He was close to becoming a super fallen angel and as such, he felt his research could go to more dangerous levels than before if he got stronger.
More power meant he could make stronger weapons, sacred gears which would make Grigori even stronger. Kurayami wondered if his mad friend would awaken a Divine Spark of Research, Construction, or something.
If anyone deserved that it was Azazel, but he thought of Kokabiel who was nothing but an ant compared to Azazel. Why did that fool think he was all that strong when he did not have the strength to back it up or have a weapon to match his attitude.
Azazel glanced at Rebellion as he looked through his notes.
"Ok, when I forged you I used several materials I acquired in my deals. I used Celestial Bronze, Stygian Iron, Orichlcum which I got from a deal with Poseidon. I only had about a kilo of it and I used half, Bone steel, and you know I used the soul of a powerful Grim Reaper. If I can make it work I can make myself a spear to match Odin's, no surpass it."
His eyes were full of passion for his craft that only other craftsmen would understand. He went to his metal stores and started to check out what he could do with it. As for the Holy Essence, he knew what to do with it. He would use it in his lance and the Land of Shadows he was still planning to use it for Azrael's sacred gear.
"Good news for me Poseidon has been getting a little jealous of Ares that his kids are getting Artificial Sacred gears and he wants us to train Percy and make him one. Of course, he offered the raw material for it and a suitable soul for it. Guess what I got?"
Rebellion answered for him.
"Orichalcum?"
Azazel nodded as he planned to start soon, but first, he was going to plan out a perfect combination and forging process. His schedule was booked, but that was just what he wanted to research more.
"Kurayami, can I ask you to supply the fire for these. I will ask Azrael to help with his sacred gear as he does not know yet. I will lie and tell him it is for Raynare."
Kurayami nodded as ut would be a good surprise to his grandfather-in-law. Not only would he have a godly weapon, but he would also have a sacred gear that could grow and evolve with him.
"I am sure he will be shocked, but Azazel with my new Evolution while I can still use all the other flames I used before I got a stronger flame than before. I call it Void Fire."
In his hands appeared a black fireball that devoured all light that looked more like a shadow. Azazel's mind ran at a million miles thinking of what he could make with that before he would consider it if it matched.
"Well, I would have to experiment with it before I use it. Can you make some blades Shin?"
Shin nodded and on the ground, a pile of swords appeared which Azazel planned to use as material. He planned to use opposing elements in it as he was one of the few people alive who could do that well.
"Ok, this might take me a while to plan what materials to use in my new spear. I also got to get a suitable soul which I might use Typhon if you can get it for me. Any chance of that happening?"
He looked at Kurayami with hope, he wanted to go all out for this. Only the best would do and what better than the soul of that monster. Kurayami thought about it and he felt it would be perfect training for Sairaog and the Abyss Dogs.
"I will see what I can do, you should have this then if you want."
He waved his hand and another pile of teeth, scales, fur, and spikes that were shed by his familiars. He had more, but he sold them on the market and used them himself as he planned to make his daughter some weapons.
One thing was that Hephaestus had already said that Azazel was his equal and the god also wanted to come over to Grigori to learn and work with Azazel. He knew that his son Terrence was working at Grigori as a Blacksmith and he wanted to check his skill as well.
"You can use that to make some high-quality Bone Steel. If need be I can give you some of my blood if you want for it. I want to see just how skilled you are Azazel. Pull all the stops in this spear, if it does not least surpass all the other works you fail as a researcher. That is my order as your friend and future Governor-General, I want to be shocked."
Azazel bowed as a joke and he sarcastically followed along with the joke.
"This lowly blacksmith will follow your order lord. Ha, You are going to wish you had not, I am certain I can make a better weapon than even your Rebellion, I can assure that."
She returned to her human form and shook her head.
"You may have made me Azazel, but Kurayami perfected me. Good luck, I wonder just what it will look like."
Azazel shrugged.
"Who knows? Creativity takes time, but I got really good news. The Super Devil research is compatible with our Blood Crystals and if I can make it work I can cure and make Kuroka stronger."
Kurayami looked at him and smiled.
"Your my friend and I no longer will keep it secret. She is pregnant with twins, but after they are born I am sure she will agree."
Azazel smiled that Kurayami was becoming a father. Vali was like his son and Rebellion was his creation, but he knew he would be making things for them.
"You know I will be the cool uncle. You can count on me, now I need time. I will be busy soon."
Kurayami, Shin, and Rebellion all left him alone while he whistled a happy toon while he prepared to pull several all-nighters. When he had all the materials he wanted he would call Kurayami and would forge a weapon that surpassed the gods' weapons.
A second chapter, for my favorite character in all of DxD. Azazel. I am free today so possible third chapter. I write when I am happy and today is a good day.
