The wooden bird(2)

Unaware of Samson thoughts, Xins, the wooden bird believed it was making a smart choice. It has seen the giant castle from above the sky. Difficulty in refining artifacts generally weren't affected by size. However when an artifact size reaches a certain threshold the difficulty will increase no matter what.

Someone who could create a castle artifact as big as that could only be considered master and Xins was very hopeful that the great master could help it, not knowing that Samson have zero knowledge about refining!

If Samson could hear what the bird was thinking he would have rejected it's request immediately. But he was blinded by the prospect of getting more information, information he believed to be of utmost importance in this world. And he wasn't wrong.

After thinking about his response carefully, Samson spoke up.

"I'll think about it. I want you to explain to me about refining first."

"I can buy that but..."

"I have been asleep for a long time. I don't know how much the outside world has changed. Now tell me before my patience runs out." Samson immediately clarified. He rushed it so that it would ignore his excuse.

The method works and Xins answered his question serious.

"Understood sir. Although I don't know how long you have slept, the refinement process has not changed much since ancient time. The main process is the mixing of ingredients, which now has more varied supplementary ingredients to help stabilize the process."

"The biggest change is the addition of many equipment in refining. Aside from that many useful artifacts were also invented to help the refining process, increasing the chance of success even more. The success rate has change from 12% in the past to a whopping 45% sir!"

Samson listened attentively, he was liking this bird more and more. It reminds him of the Wikipedia, something he likes to use very much. Perhaps he and this chatterbox could get along.

Imagine the scene where a wooden bird and a otherworldly man discussing with each other with a serious face makes him laugh involuntary. Xins look at him in confusion, the bird thought the man was slightly weird. Could this be the famous disposition of a genius?

"So what do you want to help me with?"

"Sir as you have known I am an anomaly, and although anomaly is better than it's artifacts counterpart it's much more unstable. I would be very grateful if you could manage to refine me into an artifact sir!"

Samson didn't know a single thing it was talking about and he didn't need to. He realized he could make use of this thing without much risk as it was very scared of his bubble. As to its requests? Sure he'll get to it someday. It never stated a time limit right?

"As long as you inform me of the current state of the world, I'll put your request in mind."

"Thank you sir!"

After successfully ,scamming, helping the bird, Samson still want to scroll through this place. His plans were stopped by the setting sun. He wasn't courageous enough to go in such a place in the dark.

"Do you have a name?"

"Yes sir. My name is Xins."

"Xins, you get in the house and greet Quin. I'll go it rest now."

~•~•~•~

"You are the new servant?"

Inside the dark house, 2 wooden figure was staring at each other. One was a bird, another was a lizard man.

"I am."

Xins replied curtly. It didn't think it has to be respectful of this thing. It great self would only bow down to the best! Quin didn't care about its tone, as long as it serves the lord well he would tolerate anything.

"There are rules you need to obey serving our lord."

"One, you must always follow the lord order."

"Two, you must never doubt the lord."

"Three, you must not get in the lord way."

"As long as you follow these rules I'll let you be around the lord. Understood?"

"Yeah yeah I got it." Xins said.

"Good. We'll be moving tomorrow."
