Chapter 27: The Discovery Part 2

Looking at the info on this Burning Life and Venture is surprised this is an actual natural disaster in this world. Something Venture did not expect. Going by the description of Burning Life.

Burning Life is one of the many mysteries, natural disasters that appear throughout the entire world, where the temperature of the world becomes very hot, that it will cause all life to be burned away like wood. Leaving behind ashes. Yet, this only affects anything that's related to being alive and out in the open, leaving behind ashes only.

This is what gave this natural disaster the name: Burning Life. For it shall burn all the life in the world.

Luckily, mankind has survived through this natural disaster through luck. As in the survivors have learned, that all closed space, as long there isn't the slightest crack for the heat to enter through. The life inside wouldn't be affected by Burning Life and this has been going for over a few decades now. Allowing everyone to discover many methods to overcome Burning Life and along with other natural disasters.

Before Venture could go further into reading the natural disaster known as Burning Life. The screen changed, where it displays the name of Gat, who is calling right now.

Answering it, "I'm already inside and in the basement, my bedroom to be precise." Venture had no idea why he said this, but just go with it and going by the sound of Gat sighing in relief at the end of the call. Venture can guess that Gat must be worried, that he might have been outside of the apartment.

"That's good. Just stay there for the time being. I have to call the others." Gat said to Venture before hanging up to call the rest of her members, to check on them if they are nearby or already in the apartment.

Venture raises an eyebrow at this, then [The Cunning One] push Venture's thought process back to the checking out what else is about this natural disaster that is going to appear soon.

So far, from what Venture could tell. The Burning Life is something that could be felt by many who are [Fire-Type Skill] holders, be it [Normal Skill] or [Unique Skill]. All [Fire-Type Skills] holders will always know when the Burning Life will appear and are immune to this for an entire hour before they too are affected like the other lifeforms. This is one of the many things, that helped mankind survived through Burning Life and come up with methods to at least protect oneself from it.

However, that wasn't just it. This natural disaster is far from just burning all live out in the open. Burning Life also causes the ashes that were formerly lifeforms before being burned into ashes, to become the monster known as [Life Seekers].

A [Life Seeker] are monsters formed from the ashes created by the Burning Life, where these monsters' main body is made out of ashes and could freely shift their forms in any way possible without any restrictions other than [Life Seekers] would disappear after 24 hours. Making an entire day for these [Life Seekers] to hunt down all life that managed to survive the first wave of the Burning Life.

Venture did a quick check and the first part of the Burning Life lasts for an entire day while the [Life Seekers] is another, meaning that this world has to deal with 2 days worth of problems with this natural disaster.

Going back to the [Life Seekers]. These monsters could also be taken down by [Water-Type Skills], where the [Life Seeker]'s ash body would absorb the water and hardens, allowing others to safely attack the [Life Seeker] through other means. Furthermore, with certain powerful [Fire-Type Skill] holders could potentially burn the [Life Seeker]'s ash body into nothingness as well.

Reading further into the information about Burning Life. Venture noticed, that this natural disaster will randomly occur, making it hard for people to predict when the next one appears. Therefore, this natural disaster is something many just wish their luck is good enough for them to be within an area near the shelters build for all kinds of natural disasters including Burning Life.

So far, Venture could say that this Burning Life is bound to be a problem for Venture now if he doesn't find a [Spell] towards sensing natural disasters that are about to appear. Since his current set of [Unique Skills] and [Titles] didn't inform Venture the Burning Life is approaching. Therefore, Venture gonna be on a thin line of life and death just by the Burning Life alone if Venture adventure outside City N.

Venture raises an eyebrow, where he found what looks like an ad in this world, for there is a sale on bodysuit that is specially made against most of the natural disasters. However, Venture dismisses the idea of even consider buying one due to the fact, that the cheapest bodysuit that helps the wearer to last 10 minutes outside during the Burning Life is going on, for the price of 30,000 gold coins.

Yeah, Venture not going to pay that amount of money just for 10 minutes, but he could roughly guess these suits would be a huge thing in some certain times. Nonetheless, Venture didn't care to think about getting such a thing. For one thing, he doesn't have that amount of coins. And another is that Venture could just find a [Spell] that could do better, even match or surpass the best bodysuit on the market.

So, once Venture got all the information on Burning Life. He got back to enhancing his gears and afterward, maybe check out if there are any other natural disasters in this world. Because the Burning Life alone is a major problem for Venture if he ever wanted to go outside the city.

Going back to working on the katana first. Venture took out his notebook, where he had written down a few ideas of what he wanted to enhance his katana along with his other gears.

The first on the list is the [Enhancement Spell: Durability Recovery]. This [Enhancement Spell] is meant for physical objects only and make it so that whenever the said object is being worn down by anything, including time itself. Then, this [Durability Recovery] would slowly fix that problem by using raw material for the object to absorb to regain back its durability. Of course, Venture could just use [Energy Unit] to let the [Enhancement Spell] to absorb. Since there is a limit to this [Durability Recovery], where the object in mind can only absorb the same materials that were used to make it. Furthermore, it has to be all the materials, not just one or else it causes a risk of unbalance, leading to certain parts of the object to continue to be worn down like normal.

So in a way, once again, [Energy Unit] is very overpowered and very useful in supportive ways. By itself won't mean much, but when it used with other things. Has made the [Energy Unit] a very useful thing to have.

Now, to get to work. Venture place his left hand on the katana and right hand on the sheath. This required physical contact for the [Imprintng Casting] to work. Then, using 2 [Energy Units] to imprint the [Enhancement Spell: Durability Recovery] onto the katana and sheath, causing both to light up in a white glow and if one looks carefully. The white glowing light is actually made out of mysterious tiny unknown symbols and being drawn into the katana and sheath.

Yet, Venture's eyes don't seem to be hurt by the light, nor does he have any problem seeing these mysterious tiny unknown symbols and understanding them. These symbols are what the [Imprinting Casting] use to imprint the specific [Spell] onto the target. Something that would require Venture to learn the language of these mysterious tiny unknown symbols in order to use [Imprinting Casting]; however, due to having the [Title: Scholarly of Magical Formula] had made it so Venture doesn't have to manually learn it as the [Title] gave him it right away without much effort.

Once again, Venture is very happy to have the [Unique Skill: Everything Is A Gamble] and the [Title: Gambler of Fate]. To make it possible for Venture to have the [Title: Scholarly of Magical Formula].

It took a few minutes before the light dies out. Leaving behind moving white symbols around the katana and the sheath. The white symbols would then disappear after 3 seconds.

Venture picks up both from the desk, then inject 2 [Energy Units] to see if the imprinted [Enhancement Spell] worked or not. If it does, then the white symbols would reappear while moving; however, it doesn't, then it means the imprinting process has failed or the durability is already at its peak.

The moving white symbols reappear the moment the [Energy Unit] made contact with the katana and sheath. This is proof that the imprinting process was a success. Making Venture wants to smile, but [The Cunning One] suppress the useless happy emotions right now, for there still work to be done. After everything went right, then the [Title] will allow the happy emotions to be released.

Not stopping at this point, Venture place the katana and sheath back onto the desk and imprinting another [Enhancement Spell] from the list. The second one is going to be the [Enhancement Spell: Seed of Stabilization]. This [Enhancement Spell] is meant to be used as the main core for the set of [Enhancement Spells] used together in order not to cause any of the [Enhancement Spells] causing problems aka leading to the destructions of all the [Enhancement Spells]. This is the result of resetting everything, with the worst thing being the object being enhanced would be destroyed as well. Overall, this is one of those [Spell] that are very limited on what [Magical Formula] could cast this [Spell].

Nonetheless, this is something Venture needed after placing down [Durability Recovery] successfully. As to why he places this one first instead of [Seed of Stabilization] is due to the former would prevent the latter from causing any hidden damage to the katana. In a way, the [Seed of Stabilization] would use the durability of the object in exchange for better stabilization between [Enhancement Spells].

Afterward, Venture resheathed the katana, then place down the last [Enhancement Spell], but this one requires 100 [Energy Units] to work. The cost to use this [Enhancement Spell] is big compared to the previous two. Of course, there is a reason why this one would cost so much. As Venture has discovered the best [Enhancement Spell] he could ever come across with and it is called: [Spirit Forming].

The [Enhancement Spell: Spirit Forming] is to form a spirit in the object, turning said object into an [Spiritual Artifact]. And going by the price of using this [Enhancement Spell] is massive, let alone using only 100 [Energy Units]. Just the materials alone would cost Venture a million gold coins just by a rough count when he looked it up for a few minutes before being frightened by the price alone.

Anyway, the reason why Venture picked this as the last [Enhancement Spell] instead of placing down a bunch of them than just three. It's because the [Spirit Forming] is pretty much random, giving the object in mind a random spirit that would grow on its own in many ways in order to become a [Spiritual Artifact]. This is the end goal of the [Spirit Forming Spell]. Where the moment the object turns into a [Spiritual Artifact], then the spirit will slowly create new abilities for itself and as for the number of abilities the spirit would create would depend on the spirit itself. It could be just one or more abilities. Only time will tell with the spirit.

Of course, Venture will be smart with this by using [Everything Is A Gamble] and [Chance Accumulation] to make sure, that the newly formed spirit in his katana wouldn't become something he will hate. Otherwise, that 100 [Energy Units] would be a waste, even though Venture could easily get another 100 [Energy Units] instantly without any problem.

Nevertheless, the time it will take for katana's spirit to make the katana into a [Spiritual Artifact] would take time. It's pretty much random, but the small details of the [Spirit Forming Spell]. Is that the longer the spirit takes time to convert its vessel into a [Spiritual Artifact], the more powerful it becomes.

Just when Venture was about to work on his other weapons by placing the same 3 [Enhancement Spells] on the katana onto them as well. The katana produce a white mist not even a few minutes after the [Spirit Forming Spell] was finished imprinted into the sword.

The white mist is the sign of the katana forming its spirit. Something Venture didn't expect so early since from what he can understand. The time for the first stage of the [Spirit Forming Spell] aka the spirit's birth happening. It would be at least a day before it appears. Yet, the spirit's birth of the katana is already happening right now.

Soon the white mist becomes thicken and then returns back into the katana as a sign the spirit's birth is finished. Now, it will take time for the spirit to convert the katana into a [Spiritual Artifact].

Venture wait for a few minutes, to see if the katana's spirit would be finished converting its vessel into a [Spiritual Artifact] or not.

However, after somewhat around a few minutes. Nothing changed with the katana at all. Making Venture wonder whatever just happen was by accident or something. Either way, Venture had made sure to get the exact spirit for his katana instead of leaving it to random luck. Something Venture won't have and with the [Unique Skills: Everything Is A Gamble & Chance Accumulation] made it so the katana's spirit is what Venture wanted.

Though, it will take some time for the spirit to awaken, that's what Venture is guessing when there is no sign of the spirit converting the katana into a [Spiritual Artifact] at the get-go.

But now, Venture got started on the rest of his gears before he becomes busy with not being able to improve his gears until later on.

-LIABG-

Venture let out a sigh of relief, that he managed to fully enhance his gears before things become a problem, not that it hasn't already with Burning Life going on. And luckily, Venture has a smartphone to search for other things to research without having to go out to the local library. Thank goodness for the small miracle as Venture won't have anything to do for the time being while waiting for the first day of Burning Life to be over with.

Recasting [Idle Simulation Accumulation Spell] to work on the [Elemental Bullet Generation Spell]. The modified version of the [Elemental Bolt Spell], where instead of using the environment to create bolts to attack the target. The [Elemental Bullet Generation Spell] will do the same, but instead create bullets for any types of firearms and will include the elements inside these bullets. Therefore, Venture can stock up on ammo without having to rely on the [Dark Star Faction] nor firearm shops to restock on bullets.

In a way, this will also allow Venture to create many different types of bullets without any problem nor would he requires having to deal with learning the process of making bullets manually by equipment, and furthermore, this will give Venture some idea what other [Magical Formula] he should grab, even if he already has enough to use for the rest of his life. But, better to have more than not having it when needed in the future.

"Now, what should I do next?" Venture mumble to himself, as he put away all his gears in his [Hidden Arsenal]. Venture can't go outside due to the Burning Life is still going on, and even then, going outside tomorrow would just lead to Venture facing those [Life Seekers], if there are any in the city, that is.

Though, Venture could go meet up with the other members of the [Dark Star Faction], but he has no idea what to talk about with them.

Firm? Venture rather not speak with too long, even if he isn't an enemy. Still doesn't change the fact, that Firm used his [Skill] and [Title] on Venture without him knowing it. So that's a no go for Venture on speaking with Firm if he can't help it.

Cope? Venture feels like she hates his gut for some reason, but can't figure out why. Not to mention, she is someone Venture rather not make into an enemy and he still needs to find out the best way to use the [Spell: Ally or Foe?] on Cope to find out if she truly an enemy or not, because being in this apartment is good and all, but it also could be a death trap for Venture. So yeah, without any good reason, Venture really doesn't want to seek out Cope even to confirm is she an ally, foe, or just neutral with him.

Fare? Venture doesn't know how to cook at all unless he grabs a [Magical Formula] that involves cooking, but otherwise, Venture is a little intimidated by Fare's appearance alone. And Venture rather not use the [Title: The Cunning One] just so he can speak with Fare calmly throughout the entire conversation.

Edify? She nice in Venture's eyes and she did tutor him a bit of common sense of this world. But, that is only if she wasn't busy in her lab to experiment with making new medicine or working on the newest version of the [Booster Fatigue Shot].

Bout? Nice guy to talk with, but Venture is a little wary of the guy, because he is a bit... too nice for Venture's comfort zone. After having reading lots of stories that involve the nice guy character being the bad guy later on situations. Venture know he was coming up random excuses not to speak with Bout, but better to be safe than sorry.

Note? Venture knows her enough, that she kinda doesn't like him or something. Honestly, she pretty much like Cope, someone Venture needs to use the [Ally or Foe? Spell] on really.

Gat? Well, Venture could talk with her, but there is a chance of her shooting at him the moment he least expect it. After all, if she did the first time in the name of some kind of test, then it wouldn't be a surprise if she does it again for another reason, rather it is a good or bad reason. That's up to Gat and for Venture to debate on while trying his best to survive against Gat shooting at him.

As for the last member, Wright, who Venture still hasn't met and wonder if she is in the building right now?

Venture begins to think if he should go check the last member he hasn't met yet or do something else.
