CH.12. THE DYING HOPE!

"Okay! let's go!".

The door slides open without a glimpse of sound, revealing the cautious figures all armed up.

They held a long rod in one of their hands and the other hand wrapped around their sweaters, while their shoulders bore a tightened school bag, holding the weight of a table-like structure with its four rods spiking outside as a barrier.

They move their legs taking small cautious strides, each figure close to the wall and separated by the barrier-like structure at their back.

Yi Joon moves Along taking the lead of everyone.

"Ya! Isn't it exciting? I feel like I am in a movie!", Young Soo whispers excitedly.

"Shut up and Move! Or else they will hear us!", Il Song says moving right beside Young Soo.

" Right! As I said we aren't in a movie! and you are not the main character", Min Ah peeks behind her with a furious face.

They move silently up to the stairways, carefully avoiding the zombies.

The situation favored them as the lights were all off along the hallway while lit open at the corner where all the zombies were gathered up.

But a zombie stands aloof by the stairs, his head facing towards the wall and snarling continuously.

Yi Joon stops at his feet witnessing the zombie and wondering about the next step he has to take, with the other figures behind him stopping cautiously.

"What's wrong?", Joon Woo says peeking from behind, "Sh*t", he curses as he witnesses the zombie by the stairs.

Yi Joon gestures with his hand to stop, the other figures peek through their backs witnessing the zombie.

Yi Joon takes a slow breath with his hands changing their gesture to follow him.

*It's okay! the lights are off so we can get by it if we walk cautiously"*, He takes small steps towards the stairs, with his legs stopping each time he heard the zombie's snarl.

He reaches to its side and sticks by the stair rails to not give the zombie an inch of their presence.

The others follow his steps, their body controlling each breath they took.

They get past the zombie but the figures stop as Yi Joon sticks by the wall and stops moving.

" Sh*t", he whispers.

The other figure reaches for him and follows his anxiety and intense gaze.

Suddenly they are greeted by a bright light that covered their sight.

"We are doomed!", Jin Ae whispers as he covers her head with her hand.

The lights were all lit up in the hallway, but no zombies were in sight.

The figures look upstairs and then down, they were now on the verge of concluding whether they went up the stairs or down.

" Ya! We must move, no matter what happens! we have come all this way!", Joon Woo says as he pushes his glasses upwards.

"We know", Hyo Ri whispers.

" It's do or die! That's why!", Yi Joon looks at the figures," Move along with me and if the zombie notices us, we run straight towards the broadcasting room!", He points his hands to the left side of the hallway.

The other figures nod their head and stride along Yi Joon.

Yi Joon stops by the edge of the stairs and stretches his neck to peek at the hallway.

"Hwahgghh", A voice confronts him, and a huge body closes up to his with bloodshed teeth and white pupils.

Yi Joon backs up as the other figure stumbles to their feet.

" Bang!", He hits the zombie on his head with the rod he held.

"Sh*t".

Without any time to think about the situation, Yi Joon gets pushed from behind exposing him to the large crowd of zombies that hovered around the hallway.

Soon the zombies run toward them.

Yi Joon looks at the stairs and finds Young Soo and Il Song already engaged with the zombies that had run upstairs with the sound of the huge zombie from earlier.

He bashes the zombie along with the other figures," Oi! Run towards the broadcasting room!", he shouts as he struggles with the zombies.

All of the figures move towards the broadcasting room that was within their hands reach with Yi Joon, Young Soo, and Il Song fighting the zombies.

Joon Woo reaches the room's handle and slides it open, as his face enlightened with hope. He moves inside and stays by the door gesturing for everyone to get inside quickly.

But the three figures get stuck within the grasp of the zombies, fortunately, each one is g looked behind by the long rod that acted as a barrier to the zombies that confronted them from behind their backs.

They take small steps towards the half-opened door.

They reach within the grasp but...

"Ya! Young Soo", Min Ah's eyes widen as Young Soo pushes the two figures fighting alongside him towards the door with him being all covered by the zombies, as he engaged them with his fists.

Il Song gazes at him with a confused look," Ya! What do you think you are doing?", he stood aloof as Yi Joon bashed the zombies coming his way," Ya Jung Young Soo!!!", Il Song shouts.

"Fast! Get inside!", Young Soo says catching his breath as he struggles with the zombies.

" What about you? Young Soo!!!", Min Ah shouts as she steps out of the door, her eyes welled up in tears.

The zombies react to their sound and some started running toward the broadcasting room.

Yi Joon confronts them one by one his rod now stained with blood.

"Get Inside!", Young Soo shouts," please!", his voice cracks, " Go and save everyone!".

He slams towards the wall as his hand wrapped with his sweater gets bit by one of the zombies, he shakes him off his other hand stops the other zombies with his tough hit.

Yi Joon glances at Young Soo as he grits his teeth and pulls Il Song towards the door and shoves him inside along with Min Ah.

He closes the door leaving him outside.

The figures look at him with horrified looks, "Ya! Yi Joon!", Join Woo widens his eyes as his hands clutch the hand door.

Yi Joon leans his back by the door with his hands busy with the zombies rushing towards him.

Joon Woo grabs the door clutch and tries to open it but gets stopped by Jin Ae, " stop! do you want to die too?", her eyes drooped down.

Joon Woo shoves her hand, "What do you mean? We cannot leave him to die there!", he shouts as his eyes rage in anger.

" But! he doesn't want us to die! So...", Jin Ae shouts as her eyes well up in tears, " let us respect his decision, or else we all will become that zombie's food".

"Right! we need to save the other students too", Hyo Ri steps forward and holds Jin Ae.

" Yi Joon Senior?", Young Soo looks at the senior moving towards him.

"Why?", he struggles as he sends the zombies stumbling to the ground.

" I cannot leave someone dying here if I want to save everyone, right?", Yi Joon smiles as he moved towards him and shoves away all the zombies covering Young Soo but the zombies keep hovering towards them from behind as well as the downstairs.

Soon they are covered with the hoard of zombies as their hands struggle more than ever, their hands loosened as their hope to survive goes in vain.

"It won't work! Senior, you could have left me and gone with the other students!", he says as his hands lose their grip.

" No! it's okay! they are alive at least", Yi Joon leans towards the wall.

"Ahh!!!!", Young Soo shouts as his eyes well up with tears, * Ah!! I am to die!*.

His thoughts scramble as the regret from staying behind gathers up in his brain.

*Ah! I wanted to be the main character! So...this is what I get!*.

He struggles.

" Are you regretting?", Yi Joon looks at the tearing Young Soo.

"No! I am not! I am going to die a heroic death, so that, my friends will remember me! Even if I cannot be the main character of this movie!", He shouts.

Yi Joon laughs amidst and puts his strength further to shove the zombies away.

But soon a hover of zombies counter them making them almost invisible within the crowd.

" Ah shit!!", they get pushed back further towards the wall.

*We are dead*.

The two figures lose their hope and start giving up as they lose their bodies.

Bang! Bang!

The sound of hits echoes in their ears as their loosened body becomes active once again.

"Guys? Are you fine?", A sound appears from behind the crowd.
