Damien laughed. “Sneaky, Lyle, sneaky.”
“Well, you could.”
“And I will, starting tonight. I’ll warn you, Radclyffe’s got a breakfast meeting with a couple of investors in the morning, which means I’ll have to leave by here by four, at the latest, to get ready.”
“Ugh. Well, as long as you don’t wake me up.”
“I’ll be as quiet as a mouse, I promise.”
They walked for several blocks in companionable silence, only speaking to comment on the beauty of the snow-covered scenery, the result of a light snowfall that afternoon. Eventually, the cold got to them, so they returned to Lyle’s apartment. Damien insisted Lyle eat something, “But not that sandwich, which is probably dried out by now,” and then they retired to bed. A slow bout of making love erased the last of Lyle’s tension and he fell to sleep wrapped in Damien’s arms. 17
