Like flames, the outer shell of the gates blazed as Kim stood in front of it, his clothes and hair dancing in the wind.

The gate was a manifestation of his power as The King. After getting to level 27, he acquired a bunch of new qualities from his system. One of which happened to be an item for drop.

Every time he completes a sudden quest, he is offered a gift box with lucky prices inside which could be anything depending on the quest. In this case, Kim had gotten two lucky prizes from it, one which happened to be an Instant gateway key.

"So? Do you want to go in now, orrr?" Asked Ceil, while still seated on the bike, "I don't understand why you're hesitating".

Kim turned around to look at her, "Pardon me if this happens to be the first time I'm stepping foot inside an instant gateway".

"Relax, you'll be fine. You've gotten way stronger than you were a few months ago. Besides, an instant gate is the best way to level up and grow even stronger." Ceil responded with a small grin on her face.

"Yeah, it's not about that…" He shifted his focus back at the gate, "...What kind of monsters are on the other side, and can I even survive it?".

Kim sighed. "Nah, although I'd appreciate it if you did do it though, might as well get it over with." He took in a deep breath, "Here I go." And with that, he walked into the light.

The light blinded him for a few seconds, and before he knew it, he was standing in another different plane of existence.

The ground was covered in red dust, and the sun was so dim, one could easily mistake it for the moon. The air was thick with red fog and waste lands spread far and wide.

"Interesting." Kim blurted out, a bit impressed by the environment he found himself in. His feet sunk into the sand as he moved forward, looking left and right.

Suddenly-

[Gates have been locked!

Defeat the boss of Filoon.

Gates remain closed if the boss is not killed].

The gates behind Kim closed shut and the key in his hand also disappeared. This left Kim feeling a bit panicked, having no clue what was happening.

The template hovered in the sky, close enough for Kim to read every single information that was written in it.

'Demon lord? And a B Rank?! I know I've gotten stronger, but isn't this a bit much?' Kim stepped back a bit.

"Yesssh, I didn't think your first gate would be the resting house for a demon lord…. This can be a good thing, if you kill it, you'll be able to take its class skill, and also, you have a two copy card… we can use that to our advantage too." Said Ceil, standing beside Kim like the guardian angel she was.

"Easy for you to say… but do you realize I have to look for this demon lord first?" Kim replied.

"Yeah, so?".

"That might not be as smooth as you're imagining." Kim voiced, all around the vast expanse of the land were different monsters crawling out of the ground.

"Yeah, I can see that." Kim stretched his hand to the side, "Come forth, become my blade once more…. Escanor!".

A golden portal opened up where his hand was stretched to, with a powerful push, he shoved his hand in and pulled out a red gleaming blade. This was the second gift he got from the item box, the Blade of Escanor.

Holding the blade in his hand, he began hopping on one foot. "I should be able to take down the tiny looking monsters, they are all D ranks." So he says as he uses his skill to determine the ranks of every monster approaching him.

To his right, were fast moving dwarfs like monsters, D ranks, holding tiny axes and bows. While to his left, C ranked giant stones monsters with lesser numbers.

"You ready my lord?" Asked Ceil, as she whispered into his ear.

"I'm more than ready! Like I'd let myself get killed in such a place." And with that, Kim propelled his body to the front, leaving a huge sonic boom in his wake while his body went flying to the front.

Ring ring!

Picking the telephone on the office table, the man settled on the chair, the darkness enveloping his whole surrounding, leaving only the red light from the cigarette in his mouth to the open eye.

He was dressed in a black suit, a black eye patch on his left eye and on the table in front of him, was a long blue briefcase.

Clears throat*

"Hello, Dan mello here, how can I be of service?" The man voiced out the moment the phone was close to his ear.

Caller: Hey, long time no see.

"Would you look at that, if it isn't my old pal, Erick. After climbing the ranks as city 1 Hunter, you just forgot about me, bad bad Erick." Dan sniffed his cigarette with a small chuckle.

Caller: My bad, I'll make it up to you over coffee some other time.

"Make it alcohol, and I'll think about it." Replied Dan.

Callar: That can be arranged.

"That's golden!" Dan smiled, before gently placing the cigarette on the table, "So? I'm sure you didn't just call to exchange pleasantries for old time bonding".

Caller: Smart man. No, I'm here to hire you for a job.

"Oh?" .

Caller: There's someone I need you to track down for me, their face I do not know and their information I know nothing about, all I know is they are somewhere in Hammond city.

"And how am I supposed to find this person?".

Callar: I'll send you something to help with that, and with an upfront payment of 500,000 zens, do we have a deal?.

"Hell yeah we have a deal. I'm Dan Mello, not once have I ever lost a target." He grinned, "I guess it's time to hunt".
