Chapter 14

We both eat our dinner in silent. Any of us two doesn't wants to talk and beside, there's nothing to talk about. After I finished my dinner, I stand up and walk out from our room. I keep walking until I reach the veranda of the second floor. I stare into the sky as I stand there by myself. Why things kept getting more complicated? Every time I took one step, Krios would take three steps backwards and because of that, I can't see any improvements. It feels like I am chasing something that looks so near yet so far. When I was about to walk back to our room, I heard a loud noise coming from downstairs. I slowly walks downstairs and there; I saw a drunk guy point his mug into…. Krios?! Wait, what's happening here?! I walk near to listen to their conversation.

"Hey! How dare you touch me huh?! Do you even know who I am?!" the drunkard said. Krios just stand there silently and didn't flinch even when the guy shouted at him. Krios looks like a kid being embarrass by someone in public and I don't like that. When the drunkard was about to throw his beer at Krios, I hurriedly run towards his direction. I gasp when I feel the cold beer touches my skin. I can hear people gasp at what happened. Krios look at me and immediately cover me with his body and he shouts, "Don't look at us! This is an order from the Duke of Eagleton!" and people immediately turn their backs. Oh, I forgot that I'm wearing a night gown and top it with a windbreaker. I squeal when Krios carry me in a bridal way and he ran as fast as he can towards our room. He put me down and starts to ravage the bag I brought to find me a new pair of clothes.

After a few seconds, he hands over me a pair of new night gown. I accept it and he soon turn his back. I start to change into the new night gown and after that, I was about to go out to give it to Elen so that she can clean it but he snatches it away from my hand and said, "There's no need to wash this, I'll throw this away and I'll buy you a new pair when we arrive at the capital. Beside, this reeks of beer and I know you don't like the smell of beer." Well, he's right, I don't like the strong smell of beer and that's why whenever he wants to drink, he would go to his office and drink there. He would not sleep beside me after drinking because he knows that it will make me uncomfortable.

I just smile at him and let him be. I lay down and close my close. A lot of things happened in just one day but I think these bad things are blessings in disguise, because if I haven't get wet by the beer, he wouldn't talk to me at all. I hope things between us will improve as we travel to the capital. I close my eyes and drove to dreamland.

I can feel someone is touching my face and it feels so warm. I can't bring myself to open my eyes and check who's touching me because it really feels good. I can hear someone whisper, "My love, when are you going to open your eyes? I know you are already awake." This person has such manly voice, it's deep but I can listen to this voice forever. I snuggle closer to this person's hand and feel the warmth coming from his hands. He whispers to my ears, "Fine, take a sleep my love, I'll wake you up soon, just be patience and wait for me."

When I open my eyes, I can feel something wet on my cheeks and when I touch it, I realize that I was crying in my sleep. I brush my hand through my hair and sigh deeply. What just happened? And that dream, it feels so real that to the point I can still feel the warmth of his hands on my cheeks. Who is that guy? His voice is so familiar, like as if I have heard those voice for a million times that I become so familiar with it. I wipe the tears on my cheeks and Elen enter the room. She greets me good morning and I just smile at her. Elen help me prepare and as soon as we finished, we walk together towards the first floor. As soon as we arrive there, I can see a lot of people eating their breakfast and I can see some our people too. Elen guide me to the table where Krios is sitting at and when we arrive there, Krios looks at me with a blank expression. I smile at him and greets him good morning but I didn't receive any response. Well, it's fine, he can take his time to open up with me again.

After we eat our breakfast, we start to travel again towards our next destination. As we travel, I feel so bored that I just look outside and count each trees we past by. I used to do this as a kid before, my parents would travel to the ocean, to the neighboring cities and somethings we travel to other countries and stay there for months. If only there's some gadgets here or any form of entertainment, I can use while we travel. Also, I carriage move slow, can't we speed things up? I feel like my butt will become flat when we arrive at the capital because of sitting too much. I just can't lay down because I might roll down to the floor when the carriage stops suddenly. Also the road is too bumpy! This makes me remember the time where me and my parents would ride those big trucks as we travel to muddy and bumpy roads.

As we travel, I saw something at the bushes and as we get closer, my eyes widen because it was a kid sitting under the tree! I immediately shout, "Please stop the carriage immediately!" and as soon as the carriage stop, I jump out the carriage and run towards the kid. I saw that he has a lot of bruises and wounds on his body. My eyes started to get watery as I look at his condition. Who would have done such things to a small and precious kid?

"Is this the reason why you stop the carriage?" I look back when I hear Krios speak. I nod my head and I gently shake him to wake him up but I receive no response. Krios gently carry the kid and we walk back to our carriage. Our servants gasp when they saw us with a kid. Krios gently lay him down in the carriage I'm using and Elen starts to clean the kid's body. The carriage moves slowly so that even if we're traveling, Elen can still clean and treat the kid's wounds and bruises. This boy has a golden hair, just like Krios and he looks much younger than Elen and Xino. What happened for this kid to become like this?
