Chapter 3

Adrian Storm's POV

I'm surprised at how a startup company could be so irresponsible, imagine keeping me waiting.

The door opens. I don't even look up to see the people that came in, until I heard the voice

"I'm so sorry to keep you waiting gentlemen, I'm so-"

I look up, I know that voice, even in my deepest dreams, I can recognize that voice anywhere

"April"

I look at her as though it was a ghost I was staring at, before she runs out of the room, making me slump on the chair, because my legs suddenly feels week

I would have said she just looked like April, but she recognized me, I saw it, she knew me, it was her. I try to rein in my emotions, but I can't even stop my hands from shaking

The April that I knew was dead, but what's this? I look up at Skylar, my friend and group's lawyer, who is looking at me with the same expression.

"H-How?", I don't even know what to say

I hold my head as an impending headache hits me, as I'm trying to remember the event three years ago,

I witnessed it!!, I saw her car explode, right in front of me. I saw it with my two eyes. The DNA of the burnt body in the car matched hers

But, what's this?

"I'm really sorry about this sirs", I look up to see the man that walked in with her. I didn't even notice when he came back, because he ran after her, "something must have made her like that, why don't we postpone this meeting till another time, I think that would be best for both parties"

My mouth's too numb to answer, so Sky answers instead, "yes, thank you. I think that would be better. I'll let you know what time will be better"

He leaves the conference room, leaving only Sky and I. I look at him, wanting to confirm what I'm thinking, "Was that April?"

"Adrian, you need to calm down"

I can't

"Answer me first, was that April, my April?" I whisper the last part. He knew how much I felt for her, he was the only one I could open up to, and every night of her death anniversary, he's always around to drink with me, and listen to me talk about her

"I think it was, but you need to calm down Adrian"

"You saw her too, right? I'm not just imagining it, right?" I've witnessed many deaths, but hers broke me to the last bit, so seeing her again, brought back many emotions, that I can't even say which one I'm feeling presently

"You weren't, just calm down, okay?", he holds my shoulders to keep me in place, but I really don't know what to feel

"But she died, I saw it myself, her car exploded, i saw it!!" I exclaim, as i hold my head, as if everything's going to be clear that way.

This won't work like this!!

I stood up immediately, but Sky's hand stops me, "Adrian, you're not in your right sense of mind now, so don't try to follow her, you're gonna ruin many things, which you'll regret later", he warns, obviously knowing what I was about to do

"So, what do you suggest I do? Stand here and go crazy", I shout, loosening my tie, as I suddenly feel suffocated

He sighs, "instead of standing here, which won't bring any answers, let's go to your house, and we'll investigate more about this"

I nod after thinking about it for a while, that makes more sense

"Let's go"

"So, we're 75% sure she's April, because she bears the same name, looks alike, and she recognizes you, is that right?", Skylar asks as he writes whatever on the glass board, like we're treating a gang case

"You are, but why is it 75%, and not 100%", I ask angry that I didn't get to confront her, I know my April, I know those eyes. The way her eyes widened when she saw me today was how it was when I told her that day, that I loved her.

I wasn't drunk, yes I drank, but I was still sober, I knew when I told her,

When I made my greatest mistake

"Yo!!, are you even listening to me?", I jolt back at the snapping of fingers. I look up to see Sky looking down at me, "Dude, are you alright?"

I sigh, "I know she's the one"

"I also know she's the one, but we have to know who was in the car explosion, how she survived it, we have to know the back scene"

Yeah, that's true

I don't even know if I should be happy I'm seeing her again.

What if she disappears?!!

"Skylar, find out where she's living, and send some men to stand guard at her place"

He nods, before making a phone call to make sure it is done accordingly

"Should we do a DNA test to check if she's the one?" Sky asks after he's done making the call

But something's weird

"If she survived the explosion, why didn't come back home? And why did she run away when she saw me?', Wasn't she happy to see me?" I ask, looking straight outside the window, really wishing for calmness, with the way negative thoughts are brewing in me

"You know what?", Sky says, making me look up at him, "why don't I meet with that gorgeous guy that was with her, they seemed pretty close"

"No, they don't!!."

My mind chooses not to believe that April and that guy are together

"Is that the only thing you heard among what I just said",

"I heard you clearly, alright", I snap at Sky, even if I didn't mean to, "I'm sorry, bro"

He taps my shoulders instead, "it's okay, dude"

"So, are we conducting a DNA test now?', Sky asks for the second time

"If she's really April, then she'll know that we'll want to do a DNA test, and she'll be prepared for that"

That's how my girl can be prepared for anything
