You do not decide for yourself as a child.

Annie understood this very well at a very young age. Otherwise she would have been able to decide for herself which parent to stay with or that she never really wanted her parents to divorce or that she wanted her sister to stay together with her.

Annie had come to understand that love meant pain. That love and marriage are full of insecurities that partners face every single day.

You could wake up only to realize that you had lost your love or that your partner cheated. Her parents who were so in love were breaking up and leaving their kids torn in between.

At the age of 12, Annie had lost all hope in the entire male race. As it turned out that her father had cheated on her mother with another woman and that they already had a child who was of the same age as her.

She despised her father even more when she found out that her father married the other woman exactly two weeks after divorcing her mother.

Annie promised herself that she would become so independent that she would need no man. She vowed to protect her mom and her sister too.
