I opened my eyes, feeling the cushions below vibrating due to the carriage's movement.
I adjusted slightly feeling the sharp pain from my broken arm.
Broken arm? So it wasn't a dream, huh? I really got reincarnated and if my guess is correct then with the body of Superman.
"Ohh! You're awake. Don't move too much, we couldn't heal your arm due to the urgency of the situation." My gaze shifted to the speaker. A brown-haired man in a medieval knight's armour.
He looked at me with his piercing brown eyes carrying a sheathed sword on his lap.
"What do you mean? What's more urgent than healing my arm?" I asked gulping down a lump of saliva nervously.
Now that the situation has calmed down, I'm retreating back to my usual self. A cowardly man who ran away from his house because he couldn't see his father commit heinous acts to innocent people.
A man who left his sister and bitch of a mother alone at his psychopathic father's house.
"You have used a dungeon exit talisman to leave the dungeon with very valuable materials while having no records of entering the dungeon, not to mention you do not possess an Adventurer license. Normally such cases are handled by the Guild's higher-ups but you were carrying the crest of Her Highness Princess Lucia." I chuckled nervously at those words, scratching my cheek.
"But still, healing an injured person should come first, isn't it?" I say, receiving a snort.
"You're lucky you're not thrown into the cold and dampened cells of Adventurers Guild." He said before continuing while pointing at the golem's core. "That's something countries would wage war to get their hands on and you have snuck it out of the dungeon illegally."
I froze at that not knowing what to reply.
As someone from the twenty-first century where even the most heinous of criminals are given proper medication, it's hard for me to believe that despite being just a suspect, I'm being treated worse than those criminals. I have a broken arm, multiple fractures, torn muscles and multiple other injuries for god sake.
I feel like this is some hardcore fantasy world with a dark-ass theme, unlike some family-friendly Isekai anime I loved to watch.
Well, at least this world ain't on a berserk level since I don't feel much pain from my injuries. They probably gave me some painkillers.
"We are here." The knight said breaking me out of my thoughts.
I held my breath as we exited the carriage, preparing myself to embrace the warmth of the sunlight and feel my new Kryptonian cells do their magic. But I was in for a disappointment as the sun was already down and the moon or moons were up.
"I see you entrapped by the beauty of Demi-goddess Ranni." The knight said making me snap my head towards him.
"Is that a person? Not a satellite?" The knight chuckled at my words.
"One of them is, the farthest and smaller one is a natural satellite, but the bigger and beautiful one is the palace of Lunar Princess Ranni."
Ranni? Earlier Evelyne also mentioned Scarlet Rot… am I in Elden Ring? No, it can't be, the world is too different compared to the Lands Between.
"Follow me." The knight spoke and strode towards the majestic gate guarded by two knights similar to his own.
I hurriedly followed almost stumbling embarrassingly but fortunately, I didn't. I don't want to leave such an uncool impression on my first meeting.
I followed the knight through many grand hallways, taking turns every once in a while. Occasionally I saw some knights patrolling the castle alongside the maids and servants going with their everyday chores.
After some minutes, we finally stopped outside a closed door. The knights approached the door and softly knocked three times with a second interval between each. After that, he walked back and stood beside me.
Some few minutes later, a melodious yet stern and authoritative voice sounded behind the closed door.
The knight motioned me to follow as he opened the door and slowly entered the room.
I followed behind to what looked like a study room with rows and rows of books neatly assorted on the shelf. A big globe stood near the windows surrounded by small tables containing maps.
"Well, aren't you a curious fellow?" The same authoritative voice sounded making me snap and look towards its origin.
I subconsciously held my breath at the sight that followed. A woman of unmatched beauty sat on a small throne-like chair. Her amethyst eyes which contain unimaginable power glinted with amusement.
The woman smiled at me, her smile enchanting.
"Your Highness." The knight greeted with his right hand over his heart and a small bow. His actions brought me back to reality as I hurriedly followed his action.
I don't want to offend a Royalty by not showing respect and proper decorum, they can be quite extreme.
My clumsy attempts had the Princess and the last occupant of the room—an old maid chuckle.
"That's how nobles and knights bow, a commoner needs to kneel." The old maid reminded.
"It's all right Muna, he looks like an otherworlder so he probably doesn't know our customs." The Princess said as she eyed the knight.
"Tristan you can leave us alone."
"By your command, Princess." The knight said and left after bowing once more.
"Now otherworlder, you have something you shouldn't possess. Care to enlighten me how?" The princess asked once the gate to her study room closed.
I immediately brought the vial, core and her crest.
"They were all handed to me by a woman called Evelyne," I said and immediately I felt the temperature of the room drop by a few degrees.
"Ahem! Please restrain your aura, Your Highness. Our guest is shivering." The old maid said as the temperature went back to normal.
I was shivering? I didn't even realise, despite that, I shot a grateful look at the old woman.
"Hand me those." The Princess said and I quickly obliged.
She ignored the core as she opened the vial and brought it close to her nose. She inhaled the smoke inside and closed her eyes with her head snapping back, facing the ceiling.
That's some Harry Potter shit.
After some minutes she opened her eyes once more and muttered. "So that's what happened…"
She then looked at me and spoke. "Thank you for bringing it to me, otherworlder Kal-El. You will be rewarded for the service you have done to me and the Empire."
"I'm grateful for that," I replied not knowing what more to say.
The princess nodded to me before speaking. "It seems you're quite injured, you need rest and heal. Once you're healed, I'll summon you again to reward you, until then you should enjoy the services of Royal cooks." She said and looked at the old maid.
"Please follow me, young otherworlder." The old maid said as she moved to the door.
I gave another bow like the knight Tristan and followed the maid outside the study room.
The old maid led me to a luxurious room and handed me a bell.
"Ring this if you need something, a maid will arrive to attend to your needs." She said but then her eyes narrowed. "By needs, I meant your food, clothes, and some other minor chores. Do not ask anything inappropriate of the maids." She reminded.
"Geez what do you think of me?" I asked with nervous chuckles.
"Well I'm not judging you but the otherworlders are quite known for their lusts. So I specified in case you don't read too much into my words." The old maid said and exited the room without giving me time to reply.
I looked around the luxurious room, not knowing what to do. Just as I was going to ring the bell to summon a maid to get me a healer. A knock sounded.
"Enter," I spoke.
The dual door opened revealing a beautiful maid with blonde hair and blue eyes standing with a tray.
She gracefully entered the room and placed the tray on the table before addressing me.
"This is a healing potion, Master Kal." She said. "Please drink it at your leisure, it will help heal your wounds in a day."
I nodded at her and moved to pick the potion, but she stopped me.
I looked at the maid confusedly as she explained. "I would recommend taking a bath before consuming the potion as it will make you sleepy."
I paused not even sure if I even wanted to bathe. I mean I'm not an unhygienic person but the increasing pain since a few minutes ago tells me that whatever painkillers they gave me are wearing off.
But one look at the luxurious bed and my filthy self changed my mind so I nodded in acceptance to her offer.
"Wait for a moment I will prepare a bath." She said and moved to the door connecting to the bathroom.
After some minutes she exited the bathroom and invited me.
"The bath is ready, Master Kal. Would you like to bathe yourself or want me to bathe you?" She asked.
"No! I will bathe myself." I sternly declined her help, shaking my head, not missing the surprise look on her face.
For Christ's sake! Just what kind of impression has the otherworlder before me gave!
I cursed silently moving to the bathroom.
"I leave the change of clothes on the bed." I heard the maid say as I entered the bathroom.
"Okay"
