Where times stay still

The beeping of the monitors has been beeping ever since I was discharged at the hospital. With no other sounds making an overtone to the beeping, the echo has been going on repeat inside my head, just listening quietly around by the constant sound. Here I am... laying in the hospital bed because of a still incurable illness...Cancer.

my parents... when they found out they were devastated, I think I was 8 when I got hurried off to the hospital, not knowing any better I just wanted the pain to go away and when I found out I was sentenced as victim for Cancer and my world literally shattered.

oh..? sorry didn't introduce myself...my name is Kazuya Ryuu and I am 17-year old. my name means peaceful dragon because my mom was influenced by fate and stars' align signs.

if you ask me what I love the most...it probably basketball. The one thing I wanted to do forever. I had trouble with my studies because I was lazy and didn't give an effort to keep up in life. but when it came to basketball it gave me a chance to be me, but it didn't last long before I was diagnosed with cancer. the only thing I could do was watch Kuroko no basuke, slam dunk, ahiru no sora again and again, and some other anime.

my mother is a accountant and dad is a business man being vice-president running japan electric company....Suny. and both are terrible busy but still make plans for visit when they can, and I thankful for them. I lost contact with my friends and no one bothers except very few who had to move to other region to achieve their dreams.

*door screeching*

"mhm," I looked at the door and saw a height of a child not too far from 7-9 he had black hair with black eyes and his skin tone was light brown complex. he with curios look when he saw me, he came running to me.

O..onii-chan your awake!? How are you doing!? Want to know what I did today!? he asked me with energized youth. This here is my little brother shota Ryuu, my parents have yet to tell him about my health condition and lied I was just born a little weak, but it will come at a time when he will know the truth.

ha-ha silly little Shota, as I poked my little brother's forehead. "Ouch! onii that hurt." As he held his forehead and pouted. and I replied with my sweet smile. I looked at Shota with a displeased yet pleased smile. "but Shota, when you grow up your friends can be like your helping guardians when our parents don't understand you when you have it rough, when you feel down or when you feel alone they will be there for you, promise me Shota. that you can at least get one new friend other than that next door girl, can you do that?"

"f-fine I swear I make a fwiend... Onii-chan...? when will you leave this hospital, I miss having your home."

"I don't know, probably soon I believe." I know that was a lie but what can I say to him, he who doesn't know how hard real life is.

*knock *knock* my gaze ventured to the knocking sound.

"mom!" Shota ran and hugged our mom. "hi mom." I said and smiled. "hi my little darling." mom flashed her shiny white teeth and her beautiful smile, she was in her mid-thirties but still look so young. "where dad?" I asked.

"He's still at work, so I came to check on you since I was free now". she picked up Shota and asked him. darling have you been a good boy?" "Yes, Mom. I have been very good." he started to giggle. "well it's time to leave Shota, your onii-chan just need some rest, we'll come by tomorrow OK?"

he looked at me and his eyes said he doesn't want to leave. I shook my head.

and gave him a small smile "come by tomorrow, I will be waiting. And also, bring me onigiri when you come too and ask me your progression with the big sister next door okay."

he looked dejected but recovered, still looking sad.

"mou onii-chan it isn't like that and fwine I will bring you the most delicious Oni giwi you ever tasted! bye Nii-chan!". as I can see him leave I get the feeling that this will be the last time I would see him ever again.

as I sat in my bed I thought of my regrets of living only 17 years if you take away the 8 years old so 9 years on this bed. I felt everything was just not worth it anymore and gave in to sleep, not knowing I slept my last night in this world.
