A Dream

Years after the events in Talys, the halidom of Ylisstol was peaceful and it stayed that way to its people's liking.

Chrom, Lissa, and Robin were enjoying the afternoon air on the castle's balcony.

"So Robin, what's the strategy now that Ylisse is a peaceful place?" asked Chrom in a joking manner.

"Nothing until the next war, which I hope won't happen anytime soon." replied Robin with a laugh.

"I hope no wars happen way into the future and beyond." chimed in Lissa. All three of them stared off into the sunset, smiles on their faces until the sky turns completely black. Chrom stands alert, ready for anything.

"Hey, Robin? Sunsets don't just disappear like that, right?" he asked. Robin shakes his head. "None that I know of, Chrom." He too stands prepared for anything. Lissa stands protectively between her brother and friend awaiting what was to come.

Frederick pulls them out of their stance.

"Milord! Some unknown dark force is covering the city and taking our people with it! We must evacuate what we can and leave Ylisse!" warned Frederick. Chrom turned to face the great knight.

"And go where? The skies have already darkened. This "force" won't stop at just Ylisse. It'll take the entire world." said Chrom. Robin and Lissa both nod in agreement.

"We'll wait and see what this darkness brings." said Robin. He had a feeling this wouldn't be good. Taking Chrom and Lissa by the hand (he stood in between them now), he hopes more than anything that whatever was about to happen he wouldn't be separated from them.

Robin opened his eyes, or at least he thought he did. Everywhere he looked all he could see was black.

"Chrom? Lissa?" Turning to his sides he finds his hands empty of his friends. Stepping forward a stained glass mural lights up beneath him. The image portrayed on the mural was of the Fire Emblem.

'Did Chrom install a new floor mural?' he thought. His focus goes to his new attire which was much like Sora's attire in Kingdom Hearts 2 but the colors were purple, black, and gold. The designs from his robe were also on the outfit. What strange new clothing is this?

Suddenly a chest appears in front of him. He attempts to open it, seeing that there was no key lying around.

"Dammit! Where's Gaius or Anna when I need them?" he said after finding it to be locked. He turned around expecting to find something else had appeared. What sat on a pedestal was a tome. Going over to get a closer look, he saw that it wasn't like any of the tomes he used back in Talys. An image of a key was engraved on it in silver and the whole book was golden. He picks it up and flips through it.

Interesting. It has all kinds of magic in it. But how is a tome going to open a chest?

He stumbles upon a page with an image of a sword on it.

"Summon the sword and tap on the chest with the tip of the blade." he said. He then recites the incantation and thrusts out his hand for effect. Lightning strikes and Falchion appears in his hand. Robin stands shocked at seeing the familiar blade. However, Falchion looked a bit different from its usual appearance.

Anyways, he goes back over to the chest and taps it with the tip of the blade.

"Might as well get this dream over with so I can return to Chrom and Ylisstol." he said.

As soon as the chest was opened, Risen appeared surrounding him.

"What the-! Risen!" He gathers up all his mana and summons his lightning to take them all out. But the lightning covers the blade of the opposite Falchion. Robin groans in dismay but strikes as many Risen with the lightning covered blade.

Once all of the Risen were defeated, stairs going to the next floor appeared. Whatever was up there surely must be the end of the dream. When he gets up there, he's blinded by a very bright stained glass mural of Chrom.

[Step into the light.]

An unknown voice that could be registered as his own inner voice spoke to him. Knowing he could trust himself, he steps into the light.

[You may know yourself enough to trust yourself, but do not fear when you can't trust yourself no longer.]

[The closer you get to the light, the stronger your shadow becomes.]

Robin quickly turns to look at his shadow and watches as it gets bigger and comes up out of the floor. What he saw didn't morph into a similar version of himself, but a truth that hurt him the most: a blackened version of the Fell Dragon with glowing lanterns for eyes. The sight of it angered Robin. He was always told that he was destined to be the vessel of that beast but he wasn't going to let it decide his fate, for he was the one that decided his own fate.

"I won't let you use me, Grima!" he yelled as he charged up an electrical attack to hit the beast with. It roared sending a blast of wind strong enough to blow Robin off the floor. Surprisingly, he held his ground. The lightning he conjured only strengthened his blade.

"Guess I only have this blade to fight with." He holds the blade out, ready to charge the beast. Lightning strikes all around him, some striking the blade as he runs straight for the dragon. As soon as the blade touched the beast, a blast of lightning shoots out from it and electrocuted the beast. It was then that Robin realized he could use the blade to channel his magic. Well, he always knew that but he was mostly used to just using his tome.

With the help of steel and magic, the Fell Dragon fell taking Robin with it in a sea of darkness.
