Chapter -16 Battle of Bayou

Several months later, Zhao invaded the Bayou region of Qin, prompting Qin to urgently recruit temporary army reinforcements to defend the border city.

In the camp of Leylin's unit, Jun and Zhi discussed the situation while studying a map of Bayou. Leylin asked, "What do you think?"

Jun replied, "From what I've gathered, Zhao intends to capture Bayou and other border cities. They've appointed a Zhao general as the commander. Qin is recruiting many soldiers under the command of Ouki, and they are ready to rally to Bayou to face Zhao forces."

Zhi pointed at Bayou on the map and questioned, "Why Bayou of all cities, especially in the northeast of Qin? It may not seem that significant."

Leylin looked at her thoughtfully and responded, "Your intuition may be correct. Bayou holds significance in history—it's the place where one of the six greats of Qin, Kyou, fell."

"How is this related to Zhao's conquest of Bayou?" Mei chimed in.

"I heard there are rumors that Ouki and Kyou had a relationship as best friends, so it's natural for Qin to defend the city where his friend fell," Leylin explained.

Zhi interrupted, looking intently at the map. "I think there's a secret in Bayou city."

Jun examined the map again. "That's it. Zhao knows that Ouki will accept the battle request because it's connected to a secret we may not know about. What I can confirm is that they have a deeper relationship, and Zhao attacked Bayou to draw Ouki into battle, so that they..."

All of them turned their attention to Jun as he spoke. "They want to slay General Ouki," Jun declared, astonished at the bold move by the Zhao state. Leylin looked at Jun, impressed by his ability to connect the dots so quickly.

"They are sending 120,000 soldiers, whereas Qin has mobilized 100,000 soldiers. After deep probing from Hui, we confirmed that Zhao is sending Hou Ken, a strong Zhao general, as the commander-in-chief to the battle. However, there's an information blockade in Zhao. Why?" Jun continued.

"They want to conceal something, which I think may affect the outcome of the battle," Lin interjected.

"If it affects the battle, then it may an army " Zhi added.

Leylin looked at Ying intently. "Ying, did you do what I asked?" he inquired.

"Yes, Leylin. The ghost squad you ordered left for Bayou many days ago and completed the task as requested. They have settled in a nearby town," Ying replied.

"Good. Xin, prepare the unit. We are heading to the battle at Bayou," Leylin commanded, his tone resolute and focused on the task ahead.

"It is time for our squad to make a name for ourselves," Leylin declared with determination, rallying his unit for the upcoming battle at Bayou.
