Thor didn't seem to expect Michael to greet him so calmly. He was stunned for a moment before saying, "I know you, Michael. You're a consultant for S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Yes, so I can be considered one of you. Let's be frank. I came here for the Aether. I can control the Aether, but I think most of you won't believe it. In that case, I'll take the initiative. How about going to Asgard with you?" Michael said with a smile.
"The Aether is very powerful and dangerous. No one can control it!" Thor didn't believe that Michael could control the Aether, "If you're willing, come to Asgard with me."
"Why not? I'm curious about Asgard!" Michael shrugged with a smile.
"Heimdall!"
Thor shouted toward the sky, and soon the light of the teleportation array enveloped Michael and Thor, transporting them to Asgard.
Behind them lay the beautiful and mysterious universe.
In front of him stood a man wearing golden armor and wielding a massive sword. He was Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard.
"Welcome to Asgard!" Heimdall said to Michael.
Michael nodded and followed Thor across the rainbow bridge.
Though he had seen the beauty of Asgard in the movies, seeing it with his own eyes felt completely different. It was more breathtaking and grand than anything the movies could capture.
"Hey, who's this?"
A black-haired woman in armor, holding a shield in one hand and a sword in the other, greeted Thor and looked at Michael.
"Hello, Sif." Michael spoke to her before Thor could, "I'm from Earth; my name's Michael."
Sif frowned slightly. She didn't appreciate smooth talk; she preferred brave warriors.
"I'll take him to work first. I'll find you later!" Thor said, and Michael smiled at Sif, giving her a small wave goodbye.
Sif ignored him.
The inspection process was straightforward. Though it seemed mystical—like magic or fairy arts—it was essentially the same as science. Michael cooperated throughout. They had no means of removing the Aether from his body.
"The situation isn't good. We have no way to extract the Aether, and... he might be in danger." The inspector told Thor, who looked at Michael and said, "Don't worry. I'll find a way to help you."
Michael shrugged, "You seem to have forgotten what I said. I know how to control it."
Thor shook his head, skeptical that anyone could control the Aether. But since they lacked a better solution for now, this was the only way. After the inspection, Thor arranged a room for Michael. Naturally, he couldn't allow Michael to leave without a solution in place.
Michael was more than happy to stay.
"Thor, could you get me a change of clothes? My outfit is a bit out of place here." e said as Thor was about to leave.
Thor nodded, and soon someone delivered a set of Asgardian armor.
Looking at it, Michael laughed aloud.
The craftsmanship from Asgard was superb; the armor was unmatched in both material and defense. It fit him perfectly and was comfortable, though a bit heavy. This was due to the fact that his current energy was mostly being drained by the Aether; otherwise, he wouldn't even notice the weight.
"Good call coming to Asgard. I've only just arrived, and I already have a set of armor!" Michael admired his majestic reflection in the mirror, pleased. The only drawback was the weight, but he expected that to improve once he controlled his energy more effectively.
Rather than immediately absorbing the Aether, he went out to explore and immerse himself in Asgardian culture.
Asgard was indeed remarkable, with its friendly, hospitable people. Though Michael was an outsider, there was no sense of discrimination or hostility—in fact, he found the people warm and welcoming.
"Hi, we meet again."
While exploring, he ran into Sif.
Sif frowned slightly and said nothing.
"You seem to dislike me. Why?" Michael noticed her cold attitude.
Yet he was intrigued by her.
Sif, the Asgardian warrior and Heimdall's sister, had a reputation for strength. Most importantly, she had a regal, untouchable quality.
"You'd better disappear from my sight immediately, or I won't hesitate to use my sword!" Sif said coldly, her sword already pointed at Michael.
Michael shrugged, puzzled by Sif's attitude. Why was everyone else so friendly while she was so cold?
"Hey, you're brave to provoke our female warrior!" An Asgardian nearby chuckled, "Don't mind her. Sif is just like that. Even we don't dare provoke her lightly. Only true warriors and real men get her attention."
"Humph!" Sif snorted, sheathed her sword, and turned away.
"What's her deal?" Michael asked the man nearby, curious.
The man explained enthusiastically, clearly impressed by Michael's courage in approaching Sif, "Don't take it personally. Sif isn't targeting you specifically. She only respects true warriors. To her, smooth talkers are a waste of time. This is Asgard, not Midgard, so... you may have misunderstood her. If you want her favor, show strength and courage! That's the key to winning her over."
No matter where you are, strength is always respected.
But a woman like Sif—a true goddess—was particularly captivating.
After a hearty meal of Asgardian delicacies and fine wine, Michael returned to his room, preparing to start absorbing the Aether. At the moment, the Aether was still relatively stable. Although it was draining his energy, it wasn't overwhelming. He could still recover. However, fully mastering the Aether was proving difficult. He couldn't risk activating too much of its power at once, so he had to absorb it gradually.
Yet progress was painfully slow. The Aether resisted strongly, making the process quite uncomfortable and even painful.
Given the current rate, it was uncertain how long it would take to fully absorb it. This realization frustrated Michael; without full control, he couldn't use the Aether's power to its full potential. Not to mention Malekith, who could still attempt to take the Aether, which made Michael hesitant to use it openly.
"This won't do. I need a solution. Otherwise, having the Aether is useless if it comes with so many risks." Michael frowned. Before fully absorbing the Aether, he needed to create a container similar to the Infinity Gauntlet, one capable of holding the Aether without endangering him and allowing him to wield its power.
But a container like that was hard to come by!
"It looks like I'll need to think this through carefully."
---
The night passed quietly.
Michael spent his first night in Asgard deep in thought.
The next morning, he woke up and prepared to explore further, hoping to locate Asgard's treasure vault. It was rumored to house countless powerful artifacts, any one of which could have the power to destroy entire worlds.
Not long after he stepped out, he saw Sif and a few other warriors passing by, seemingly escorting some prisoners. Among them was a tall, imposing figure wearing a helmet that caught Michael's eye.
"Already so soon?"
