Dealing with her friend's death on the first day of her new assignment was tough. Releasing a sigh, she made her way outside to the rooftop deck, where investigators were busy dusting for prints. Glancing to her left, she realized every resident on the penthouse level had access to the rooftop deck, each separated by dividers. She stopped to talk to one of the investigators.
"Have you found an exit door?"
"Yes," he pointed, "they're located on both sides of the building -- one at each end." His face took on a frown. "But who walks down twenty-two flights?"
"Someone who's trying to escape," Jessie said.
"True."
"Do you know where those doors lead?"
"There's one door out to the street level, then one flight down, another door out to the basement."
Jessie reentered the apartment looking for Detective Tony Vega, who'd just finished bagging an item.
