Battle Of Distractions

[Before we continue with the story, let's take a look at Pyro's backstory]

A long time ago, when Pyro was little, he lived happily with his parents in a rental apartment in the city of Garture. Unfortunately, when Pyro was twelve(12) years old, his parents died from an illness which eventually led him to be homeless and live in the streets of Garture. In his case, his parents never had contact with any relatives so he had no where to turn to. Pyro suffered in the streets for days living without food and drinking water from unhealthy sources.

One day, he was walking through the streets as usual, then suddenly he heard an odd looking man talking on the phone about how he ripped off a man and made a lot of money in an underground casino for dangerous people. So he followed the man for miles then finally, the man stopped in a dark alleyway. Pyro followed him into this alleyway but couldn't see the man again nor the entrance to the this casino but then he could hear some noise coming from the end of the alleyway. He went to the end and could see nothing but the wall at the end.

Again Pyro began to hear the noise again then instinctively, he placed his ears on the wall and was able to hear that noise. Surprisingly, the wall rotated a little then Pyro realized it was a secret door. So pushed the door and walked through and before him was the underground casino full of rich individuals who bet their wealth away.

For days, Pyro stayed in the casino working as a janitor and using items that he stole from the streets to gamble with these rich dangerous people who were mostly referred to as Underground Warlords that controlled gangs. After Pyro staying there for months, they took a liking to Pyro due to the fact that he was extremely smart and strong for someone his age and then they started hiring Pyro for jobs. One crime after another, by the age fourteen(14) Pyro was making a name for himself in the underworld and the underground casino served as the origin for his crimes. The type of people he met and the connections he built helped him to rise in the underworld.

One day, during his missions, he met a young man named Leonard Smith(Conner's father) who was the same age as Pyro and was a prodigy known for his unique techniques of ice and his heroic deeds. They fought for hours and it seemed as if they were equally matched in strength but Leonard seemed to have an advantage in techniques and only he could perform these ice techniques. In the end Pyro was defeated by Leonard. After that, Pyro saw Leonard as his greatest rival and kept a close eye on him and his family. One day, in Pyro's adventures, he visited a small town that was located far away from the main cities. Doing his job, he met an old man with an extreme amount of zen energy and he possessed an ability called "Copy Cat". This ability allowed the old man to copy the abilities of others and use it against his opponents, similar to Nathan Vangaurd, from the Council Of colors who copies abilities and doubles the strength of the ability of his opponents.

This old man also possessed the ability to grant an individual the ability to copy only one technique from an opponent during a battle but this only lasts for fortyeight(48) hours and cannot be granted to that same individual ever again. The old man called this state, "Copy State" and he granted this state to Pyro. After receiving this state, Pyro had only one person in mind who he would like to copy a technique from and that person was Leonard. So without hesitation he left the town heading straight towards Leonard's whereabouts.

Leonard was part of a hero agency were he spent hours there for most of his days. It took Pyro a day to reach the city where Leonard was. When he arrived at the agency, Pyro caused a lot of panic among the employees that worked in the agency. One by one Pyro took down Leonard's colleagues and barged into Leonard's office. Present in the office was Leonard and surprisingly Mr Drake Larson (Ken's father). Pyro stood in front of them and challenged Leonard saying, "I am here Leonard, to finally defeat you," and without even getting a response, Pyro charged toward Leonard. Suddenly, black mist filled the room within seconds then Pyro felt pains all over his body after which he began to feel uneasy and was losing consciousness. Suddenly, Drake stood in front of Pyro then he lost consciousness with Drake's face being the last thing he saw that day.

The ability that was granted to Pyro was no longer effective and he was sent to a high-end prison for ability wielding individuals. He was locked up in prison for sixteen(16) years and after getting released he was now thirty(30) years of age. Pyro noticed that his growth has stopped in the stages of zen and he was stuck in the second stage(zen prime). This weighed heavily on his mind because due to getting imprisoned he had lost a lot of time which he could have used to improve his abilities and become ten times stronger than he is.

So after getting released he trained himself to try to at least make up for the time lost and through that, he unlocked new abilities that made him stronger. But then, he still couldn't move to the next stage of zen so he decided to go back to the life of crime to help him improve more on his skills through real-life experiences. After a while, he formed his army and became known as one of the fourteen(14) warlords of the underworld. But after getting released, Pyro never met Leonard nor Drake ever again. In search of Leonard, he did some research and found out that Leonard's children live in a large city attending a school for exceptional students and he began to do his research on them.

This led us to our current situation.

[Now let us get back to the story]

"Now let's finish this," Pyro shouted in excitement since this is the first time in years that he had to use his full strength with an opponent. Ken was still unconscious facing Pyro face to face. Within a second, Ken disappeared and reappeared behind Pyro then he delivers a series of mist punches, but these punches were adjusted for close-range fighting. Connor noticed that Ken wasn't acting like himself but someone else entirely and his fighting style also changed totally, and one could say he fought with animalistic instincts. After receiving all those punches Pyro fell to the ground and stood right after within seconds.

"Yes!.. Yes! … I felt that….. I can feel you getting stronger and stronger, this is what I have been waiting for!!" Pyro shouted. Then Ethan gained consciousness again, he looked up and saw the room faintly filled with black smoke then he saw Ken levitating in the air fighting Pyro. He looked in Connor's direction and noticed him on his knees with his hand on his chest trying to cover a huge wound. Ethan crawled towards Connor and asked him,

"Connor, what happened?.. is that Ken?" Ethan asked.

"There is no time to explain, we have to help Ken…. I have a bad feeling that if he continues to fight like this, he might die… his body can't take all that amount of zen energy," said Connor.

"So what do we do?" asked Ethan.

"First of all, let's save my sister I think she might be able to help us… I have a plan," said Connor.

With Ken and Pyro fighting in the background, Connor and Ethan sneaked their way passed them and went to Rachel's cell. Connor was still bleeding so Rachel gave him her torn up jacket to tie up the wound. After stopping the bleeding, Connor used his ability to freeze up the metal bars and punched his way through, now Rachel was free. She embraced Connor for a second and suddenly they were all focused.

"So what's the plan?" asked Rachel.

"Here is what we are going to do, first of all, Ethan, where is your sword we are going to use it," said Connor.

Then Ethan crawled his way back to where he passed out and he took his sword from the floor and came back.

"Good we have the sword, now listen up… Right now Ken in this weird state and he is giving Pyro a real challenge which is draining Pyro's zen energy. Ken's body won't be able to keep this up so here is what we are going to do, I can feel Ken's zen energy increasing and also gathering up in his left arm which means he is about to release an attack which is going to ensure that this attack is going to damage Pyro a lot and that's when we strike. Ethan show me your sword(which he did), now Rachel we are going to use our ice to create a solid coat of ice that will cover up Ethan's sword," said Connor.

"How is that going to work?" Rachel asked.

"Whiles Ethan will be swinging the sword we will be assisting him by constantly transmitting zen energy into his sword which will double his ability and that might be what we need to finish Pyro," said Connor.

Now they were waiting for Ken to release that attack that seemed to be his last attack. Clash after clash Ken and Pyro fought with Ken throwing Mist punches and Pyro also throwing Beam punches which were punches filled with his zen energy that resembled him throwing beams of light. Now finally after twenty-five minutes of them fighting each other, Ken released his last move which was the attack he was holding back. Ken ascends into the air a little and suddenly he held his left arm up then black mist began rushing towards his arm covering his entire arm.

Ken swang his arm down and a huge black mist filled with unbelievable zen energy was rushing towards Pryo in a ray form. Pyro was in shock and could not even move his body because he had never felt anything like this and with the speed at which this ray was approaching Pyro, he could not even hope to defend himself. This ray struck Pyro and he suffered a lot of internal injuries then after, Ken fell to the ground and this time it seemed he was knocked out.

Then Connor shouts out, "its time… lets go!" Ethan took a couple of steps back and run towards Pyro then jumped into the air with his sword getting ready to deliver the final blow. Connor and Rachel began to transmit their zen energy into Ethan's sword creating a coat of ice around the blade. Ethan also adds his ability by increasing the gravity of the sword and shouted out, "Gravity Rush," then he poured in a lot of zen energy into the sword to the extent that he was losing his grip on the sword. Now he swung the sword straight at Pyro going down with full force. The sword makes contact with Pyro and this time slices through him cutting him from his shoulder to his hip. Pyro fell face-first on the ground with huge amounts of blood splattered everywhere. Ethan and Connor stood in front of Pyro's body and it was now confirmed that they had won this battle. Suddenly, Pyro was whispering something to himself,

"I just wanted to fight you one last time Leonard, … and that boy….. He reminds me of that man from that day….. How unlucky," said Pyro in his final words.
