Borderline of Justice

Café Nascita, in the basement.

Sento walked briskly around the lab, completing several laps with an expression of annoyance before halting in front of the chalkboard once again.

"Alright, listen up..."

Misora yawned, shifting her head on the reclining chair to find a more comfortable position. "So tired..." she murmured, feigning sleep and beginning to ignore Sento.

The reporter, Sawa Takigawa, was seated close by, tending to a sore on her foot from extensive field work, oblivious to Sento's words. Both girls had already understood the situation. Moreover, Sento had repeated the information on the board multiple times.

Sento rolled his eyes and continued on.

"This is the last time I'm going to explain it, alright?

There was only one person in the room that was slow to understand what was being explained.

Ryuga Banjo, looking tired and confused, nodded his head at Sento. Ryuga stared hard at the chalk board, it was cluttered with animated characters and a maze of arrows darting in various directions.

Sento took a pen to use as a pointer and began to explain the situation once more, gesturing from one area to another on the board.

"Your girlfriend was used...Nabeshima made her lure you to the crime scene of that scientist, Takumi Katsuragi..."

Ryuga nodded in understanding.

"...And Nabeshima was also the person who tranquilized you Ryuga..."

Ryuga nodded again. "Yah."

"...So that you could be taken in and used for a Smash experimentation..."

Ryuga kept nodding. "Uh huh."

"...There's no doubt that Nabeshima is the key to figuring out what's going on."

Ryuga leapt up from his cross-legged position on the lab's floor, his face breaking into a broad smile. "I get it now!"

Sento sighed, rolled his neck to crack it and then also rolled his eyes. "It's about time..."

Misora also sighed and got up from her comfy looking position on the chair and started to stroll over, piece of paper in hand. She had been waiting for Ryuga to clue in. She stopped walking, leaned against a wall and addressed the boys.

"But the resume we found for Nabeshima was all bogus."

She waved the fake resume she was holding around for extra effect.

At Misora's words, Sawa sprang up and suddenly was at full attention as well. She ran over to stand in front of Misora. "What?! No way!" She reached out to snatch the paper from Misora's grasp, quickly scanning it with her eyes. Ryuga and Sento moved closer as well, eager to catch a glimpse.

Misora started explaining.

"I tried the address and phone number, but neither was him..."

Sawa dramatically fell to her knees as she read the forged resume over again, exclaiming, "But I went through so much trouble to get this..."

Sento squatted down beside Sawa, reading the paper over her shoulder. Sawa turned her neck a bit to look at Sento behind her. "What now?"

Misora's face took on a mischievous grin. "If you don't mind paying me..."

She edged closer to Sawa and crouched beside her. Catching Sawa's gaze, she rose again, adopting a mysterious demeanor before making her offer.

"...I can unearth some information for you."

Ryuga smirked and started to mock Misora. "What the hell can some shut-in kid do?"

"OBJECTION!"

Soichi came skidding around the corner, jumping and landing in a pose while staring at Ryuga.

Sento bent his back in a weird pose of his own to match Soichi's. Sento made guns with his hands and pointed them at Soichi. "Go ahead, Owner."

Soichi gave Sento a wink and a nod before striding towards the group, adjusting his collar and repositioning his hat as he moved. "You'd best not underestimate Misora..."

He ended up near Misora, casually draping his arm over her shoulder in another over-the-top pose. He shot Ryuga a smug look. "...Understand?"

Soichi and Misora dashed to the room's center. Soichi, seemingly from thin air, fetched a set of vertical blinds and positioned them in front of Misora. Behind the blinds, Misora's clothes comically flew off, while another outfit appeared to materialize just as mysteriously.

Ryuga's mouth dropped at the scene and Sawa rushed over to cover his eye's with her hands, even though you couldn't see anything.

Soichi turned on the labs computer and activated it's web cam. He pointed at the vertical blinds. "Action!"

Misora kicked the blinds aside, revealing a completely different outfit than before. Where she had previously been clad in sweats, akin to pajamas, she now sported a red and white checkered shirt, tight jeans, and headphones resting on her head. Her hair was styled into a wild ponytail, accentuated by a large, rainbow-colored scrunchie that made it stand even taller.

A broad smile adorned her face, giving her a bubbly appearance. This was a stark contrast to her typically sleepy and sullen demeanor.

She thrust her arm up in excitement and turned towards the camera. "Hi!..."

Her voice was higher, more adorable, and brimming with more energy than ever before.

"...It's Miitan, your idol!"

Misora tilted her head slightly, becoming cuter with each passing moment. She giggled and playfully poked her cheeks with a finger on each side, exclaiming, "Miitan's face!"

Soichi smacked Ryuga's arm with his hand to grab his attention. Ryuga's eyes were no longer covered, but his jaw remained dropped, his astonishment at the transformation evident.

Soichi explained. "Misora's a very popular internet idol, y'know."

Ryuga started walking towards Misora to get a closer look. "Net idol!?"

Sento chased after him, grabbing Ryuga's shoulders with both hands and yanking him back before he could get in the shot. "You'll get in the way, idiot!"

"It's your request-making idol who no one meets in person, Miitan!..." Misora was still making lots of cutesy poses as she introduced herself to the viewers.

"...Let's make today a great one!"

Soichi strode over to Ryuga, resting a hand on the younger man's shoulder. His expression was still smug, now tinged with a hint of pride. "She has thousands of fans all over the country..."

Soichi let go of Ryuga's shoulder and instead, pointed a finger up and into his face while he slightly crouched. "...They all help Misora gather info."

Misora stopped posing and pointed into the camera, at the audience on the other side. "Now, here is today's request!"

"Seriously!?" Sawa was equally shocked and couldn't resist leaning in to hear more about what Soichi had to say.

"Ta-da!" Misora help up a picture of Nabeshima. "Could you all look him up for me? Kinda like if my life depended on it?"

Misora stepped out of the camera's view briefly, while Soichi, reaching into his apron, retrieved a bottle of eye drops and handed it to her. Misora took the bottle and hastily applied the drops to her eyes and cheeks, giving the appearance that she had begun to cry.

She stepped back into the frame of the shot and cast Nabeshima's picture to the ground, still clutched in one hand, her face etched with disgust and fear. Misora clutched both her hands together, looking cute and pathetic at the same time. She got a bit closer to the laptop's camera.

"Pwease help!"

Mere moments later, Misora's open inbox on the laptop started flooding with messages from people watching her little idol webisode.

"No direct info about him, but there's a Smash over in area C9?! To 'Miitan Love' who sent me the info first..."

Misora place her hands in front of her again, this time they weren't clenched. They were held up in the shape of a heart. "...Thank you -Wub!" She made a kissing face at the camera.

"My friend Miitan Love is always sending me such nice info!..." Misora kept yapping at the webcam.

"Miitan's really happy!"

Soichi nodded at Sento, who was already on his way to the base of the stairs. Sento had started heading that way as soon as he heard 'Smash'.

Soichi turned his gaze on Ryuga and Sawa. "Alright, now it's Build's turn."

Both of them realized the implications and began to chase after Sento. Sawa appeared excited, eager to obtain her scoop on Kamen Rider. Ryuga, however, seemed quite annoyed by the situation.

Ryuga called after Sento. "Whoa, hang on! Hey!"

Sento paused, while turning his head slightly to look at Ryuga.

Ryuga's expression was serious as he stooped to retrieve a sheet of paper from the floor. He lifted the photograph of the man they were searching for, so Sento could view it. Earlier, when Misora had discarded the picture, it had drifted close to the stairs.

"I thought you were looking for Nabeshima?...You said you wanted to know why you lost your memory."

Sento turned back around and started heading up the stairs, answering Ryuga as he ascended. "Those are two different things."

Ryuga pointed and Sento and raised his voice in anger.

"Which do you care more about, helping people as Kamen Rider Build or your own past?!"

Sento paused again, midway up the stairs. He turned and snorted, looking down at Ryuga. Sento smiled and answered him.

"That's obvious. Build."

New episode, start! If you have the time, go and check out my other book, "The Holodex Henshin". There will be many Kamen Rider things going down over there too!
