CHAPTER 17

During the drive, Julia thought to herself.

" No one would believe I'm an hour late for work, Everyone in the meeting must be waiting for me by now, or Maybe the meeting is over. Oh God!

Why me? Why now? "

It was a two hour meeting and Julia played an important role, she was to present her fashion collection to the board members.

Few seconds later, she arrived at her apartment building.

She came out, payed the cab man and asked him to wait for her, she would be right back, he nodded and waited for her.

Julia rushed into the building, after climbing upstairs in a hurry, she entered an elevator and arrived at a long hallway . To she entered her scattered apartment, she was yet to fully unpack her things.

She rushed into the bathroom and brushed her teeth, there was no time to shower, so she ran to her room, opened her wardrobe and wore a white blouse and a black skirt. She tucked in and wore her earrings. There was no time for her to wear makeup so she went into her kitchen and hurriedly ate sliced bread and jam. She tried to eat quickly but not too fast so she won't choke. After eating she drank a little amount of water.

After that, she parked her hair into a tight bun that was not neatly brushed. She wore her black heels, took her black purse and ran downstairs, she entered an elevator to get out of her apartment building.

She was so much in a haste that she ran into an old man who was walking opposite her.

"Oh my, so sorry Sir. "

She apologized Politely.

"Slow down lady, this ain't rush hour."

He says as he bends over to pick his walking aid.

"I know, but I just don't wanna be super late."

She says impatiently as she walks away.

The old man walked away frowning and cursing in French.

"Women of nowadays, there's always something wrong with them."

He grumbled and shook his head thoughtfully. Julia's phone begins to ring again but she didn't have time to answer it.

Julia got into the taxi, and said.

"Drive, and drop me at Mable street, Lorenzo house. "

" All right ma'am."

The cab man replied.

After a short while, she arrived at the fashion house. She hurriedly came out of the cab, opened her purse and payed the taxi driver. She zoomed off, forgetting to collect her change.

" Miss. " He yelled, trying to call her to come back. But she didn't answer, she didn't hear him, her focus was to get to her office.

"Oh well, it's my lucky day."

The cab man said happily as he shrugged and drove off.

Julia hastened her steps and arrived at the entrance of the fashion house.

With a deep breath, she opened the door and walked into the big firm.

Everyone stared at her, some in surprise, others in jealousy.

The janitor and receptionist looked at her, Wondering why she came to work by this time.

Julia ignored them and hurried into an elevator to arrive at the second floor, where her office is, she prayed in her heart that her boss would believe the lie she would come up with, as to why she's late. Tardiness was not tolerated. And could not be tolerated now since it's on a resumption day.

How would she explain to her father that she had a wild night to celebrate her birthday and lost her job shortly after being promoted because she overslept on the bed of a famous stranger. A guy she barely knew. Her father wouldn't be pleased, more so, he wouldn't believe it, And if he did, he would be pissed. He didn't raise her to act this way, he might even disown her, that's how strict he was.

He is her only parent, Julia lost her mum to cancer, five years ago, on the day she graduated from high school.

It was a very sad day for her. But she has healed from that trauma. Hopefully, she would heal from this mistake.

The door opened and she walked out of the elevator.

Her heart beat increased, when she realized she was yet to come up with a story that would convince her boss not to fire her or be upset with her.

She ignored everyone and everything, walking hastily to her office.

She halted when she heard someone call her name.
