Overlapping Planes

As his fingers flicked up so did the ground around him. Trees uprooting themselves, earth tearing out in massive chunks that all gathered before him into a giant mass that compressed into a perfect sphere.

But it did nothing to stop the charging spirit. Just as quickly as it formed it exploded as cracks webbed over its surface.

Seeing the spirit appear, framed by the dust and debris of the broken defence Gojo couldn't help but smirk as his fingers snapped.

Feeling its danger sense flare the spirit crossed its arms in front of it. The sudden rippling energy tore its flesh to shreds as the space the mass had just been in suddenly warped and the shattered debris came flying back to where they were.

The air twisted as the spirit screamed from the stress of its body being torn apart as the space he was in suddenly started to twist in on itself forcing his body to follow into a swirling demise.

Sliding back from a previously received attack Gojo left trenches as his feet carved through the floor. Shaking out his arm as he felt hot burning pain and blood run down his chest. The split flesh of his chest bleeding no matter how much he had tried to heal them.

Tearing the remains of his shirt off he tied them around his chest as he listened to the screams of the spirit before him. "Honestly, I never actually expected anyone but Atlas could fight me. This is an unpleasant surprise." His voice dropped as he took a few steps back and out of the trenches carved by his feet.

Watching as the twisting space started to 'bleed' he shook his hand out as he watched the spirit crawl from the twirling mass that it had once been just a moment ago. The space restoring back to what it had been before.

"Oh, you think this is a fight? This will be a massacre when I get my hands on you Satoru!" The spirit yelled as its body started to heal.

It didn't matter to Gojo, healed or not he had the same strength, he may as well catch his breath while it did.

"Hence why I'm not letting you, are you the most retarded of your siblings?" Gojo mocked as he crouched down and got ready to fight once more. His fingers winded together as he waited for it to attack.

Laughing it shook its head and said, "Siblings? No, much more like…" His voice paused as he thought about it. Shaking its healed limbs drops of black blood ran down its fingers and dripped onto the ground. "I wouldn't know how to describe their relation to me."

Narrowing his eyes Gojo grew cautious, it hadn't stopped attacking him since the fight started now it was mulling over other spirits. It didn't seem that intent on fighting right now. Its gaze turned towards the school that stood on the top of a nearby mountain.

Turning his own head to look in that direction Gojo couldn't help but grit his teeth when he saw that Atlas and Geto still hadn't appeared. But Toji was at least there.

Ducking a kick ripped through the air over his head, his own body turning into a twist as his foot slammed into the side of the spirit.

A hand wrapped around his calf but before it could grab him he forced red into his infinity throwing it away as the kick's power multiplied.

The sudden new force threw even the spirit off its feet as it catapulted through the air at astronomical speeds.

Landing on his feet the spirit immediately leapt into the air and over the crashing hand that shattered the ground that he had once been standing on. Turning to land on the other side of the spirit Gojo threw himself to the side using blue to pull himself through the air.

The space he had just been about to enter was filled with energy… the power that it radiated was… shocking.

If he entered it he wouldn't come out unscathed.

"Oh, so you can see it, can you? I'm unable to touch you and you can see almost everything. You really are the worst match-up I could encounter." It said with a smirk as he tossed his head back and forth, the shaking of his black mane of hair spiking up it up as it hardened.

Its skin slowly turned a bleak black as the scars that followed its muscles darkened and coiled as if they were becoming strands of metal. A matte surface without any reflection or shine.

Cursed energy flowed over its body as it cracked its neck. "If I cannot hit you with my technique then I shall beat you down with my fists." It said as its domain expanded over its body.

Domain Amplification.

Seeing this Gojo focused on his technique, he didn't know if this would work. But from what he had seen with Atlas it just might, even with domain amplification that could neutralize a technique. It had to make contact with it for that to happen.

Feeling his infinity flare with his power he glared towards the spirit. A thin purple aura appeared over his body as the ground around his feet started to flake away.

The wisps of purple energy danced from his skin and from the corners of his mouth as he breathed out before taking a deep breath in.

And he held his breath.

Hollow purple enveloped his form, his blue eyes glaring through the crackling energy as the air broke apart around him.

He could use positive energy to maintain blood oxygen levels but that didn't work perfectly.

Right now he couldn't breathe.

But he couldn't keep this battle dragging on.

---

The bases of all fears having formed into beings themselves, such things were truly a terrifying concept. To think that the cursed energy that he had been letting into his plane as he just used his technique or property had increased the rogue cursed energy over the years that he had existed.

And now his latest stunt of pulling in everything he could have brought over so much that it had helped the terrifying spirits take form.

Kenjaku had been helping that energy condense down into these powerful spirits… how? He couldn't even begin to guess, but the man must be desperate to give form to such beings.

Cursing out loud Atlas went to walk outside of the barrier but stopped as he pulled his mind back to why they had come here.

Geto.

"You can lower the barrier," Atlas stated, as soon as the barrier that had stopped Geto from hearing what he said disappeared he asked. "So what is happening to Geto and can we fix it?"

Smiling Tengen responds. "What is happening to him is nothing that can be fixed by actions. He is only dead because Death has influence in this plane, as soon as your technique stabilizes and you close the rifts Death will no longer be able to interact with this plane, and he will 'live' again. Although, I doubt that he will ever be the same, even I don't know what happens when a body forcefully lives but I do know that death will not return his soul. He will be hollow once death fades, a vessel without a host."

Narrowing his eyes Atlas asks. "Why can it only access this plane through my rifts?"

"Because that is its restriction. Death is endlessly powerful because it exists solely in the afterlife. It cannot interact with this plane unless, of course, something were to overlap our plane, with it. Such as you did when you accessed Geto's soul with Hoshi's guidance. Briefly bridging the gap and turning the inside of the school barrier into a shared plane." Tengen clarifies. His ancient voice sounded like a worn scroll.

Nodding Atlas was about to say something else but felt something wrong, his technique that started to mend slowly reacted to something above.

Before he could say anything however as he turned to look in that direction he felt it from Tengen said, "It seems that you are needed outside… I pray that you may fix this mistake. I pray that you can stop the spirits that you unintentionally helped form Atlas." Tengen finishes as his eyes narrow slightly.

Turning to face him Atlas could see it, the smallest look of fear and accusation directed his way.

While it was his fault it was far from intentional. "Don't worry, you hide down here while I make sure the problem is dealt with." His voice was a bit bitter as he turned away and started to walk to the entrance that they had come through.

Following a bit behind him Geto turned his head to look at the form of Tengen once more but the figure was gone.

Holding his tongue until they got to the elevator Geto couldn't help but ask. "So that was Master Tengen, they were not what I expected."

Shrugging Atlas said, "People rarely are, especially those that are so old." His voice grew heated as he thought back to what Tengen said. It was his fault and he knew that… but how was he meant to know?

It wouldn't have cost Tengen anything to say something before they formed.

His existence had balanced itself. By using his strength stronger spirits had formed to balance the scales.

That was how this world worked... at least from what he knew. Kenjaku had always had the world balance against him...

Kenjaku had once more put himself on the board… using the time he had been hiding to help give form to spirits that might be able to fight him. While they all sounded terrible he knew that extinction wouldn't be like the others.

It hadn't formed yet… but the amount of energy that it needed would be insane. But what did he just bring forth a moment ago? Enough energy to let Death itself peer into this plane.

He would kill Kenjaku before he could help Extinction form.

Arriving at the top of the elevator he dashed forward, Geto followed as fast as he could behind him. His face growing concerned as he said, "Atlas, are you okay?"

"No, I gave Kenjaku weapons." His voice was deep with rage directed towards himself.

Realizing this subject wouldn't be helpful Geto asked another question. "What is happening outside?" After all, Tengen had mentioned that their help might be needed.

"A spirit has appeared, one of the 5 base fears… no... more than just one... I don't know how many." His voice quieted as they leapt into the air and through the door. And as soon as they got out of the tombs he felt it, the energy that was leaking from the other side of the school.

A deep and primal energy that held power that was abnormal for a spirit. Something that he couldn't even begin to put thought to, it wasn't the same as a normal spirit, it was more akin to a sorcerer while still being made of cursed energy but there was something… more.

Feeling the energy of Death brush against his skin he used the small influence he had over his technique that he had gained to push it back. He could see Geto paling as soon as they got out of the tomb. "How are you feeling…"

"Like I shouldn't be here," Geto said, his voice catching as his eyes nervously looked around.

Nodding Atlas didn't know what to say. He felt that too but he was sure that it wasn't the same way that Geto was feeling it.

Taking off in a sprint Geto followed as they ran towards where the spirit was… at least it gave them direction.

Flipping into the air Yuta put his hand against Toji's shoulder, hands passing over him as he watched them barely scrape his nose. Sweat being pulled off his skin as she brushed against him.

Feeling Yuta against his back Toji straightened suddenly letting the boy spring off his shoulder and further into the air as he leapt over another attempt to restrain his legs.

His chain spun around as he sent it far to the side and twirling around wrapping heaps of hands and stopping them from defending against the claws of the other white spirit that was on their side.

The dagger came around and was caught in his other hand. With the chain around its back, he pulled and threw his foot forward into a powerful spartan kick that pummeled through multiple hands before impacting the spirit.

Seeing Yuta coming down he pulled back and let go of the dagger. Twirling as he let the blade swing behind him and over his head.

Just as Yuta landed on top of the stunned spirit slashing down its front before turning to the side. The spinning dagger passed just in front of his face as it slashed another gash down the spirit carving more flesh apart.

But both slashes no matter how devastating were already healing.

"If you're holding back now is the time to go all out!" He heard Yuta yell as the boy landed beside him. His panting as he felt the cold sweat stick his shirt to his skin.

"Getting tired?" Toji said as he sent the dagger forward again letting go of the chain suddenly as he spun a kick into the spirit's side before letting it grab his ankle. As soon as the hand closed over his ankle he pulled forward with his leg yanking it towards him.

The spirit tipped forward into the attack of Rika that punched its face with a giant hand only for Yuta to dart behind it and impale it through the back with his Katana as it fell backwards.

Grabbing the chain again Toji yanked it back forward and into a flurry of attacks. Each punch sheered off arms before he grabbed the blade of the Katana that was impaling the spirit and pulled it all the way through until he could grab the handle.

Not expecting such a strong pull Yuta let go of the blade as he watched it disappear through the spirit before it was suddenly cleaved in half.

Although before Toji even cleaved the whole way through the spirit was already healing.

Clicking his tongue in annoyance Toji slashed again and again each one faster and more brutal. His chain spun as the dagger cleaved flesh and the Katana wrought chunks from the body. Hundreds of cuts happened in seconds as he swung wildly.

What would have normally turned anything into a pile of gore didn't even leave a scratch behind on the spirit that healed so fast that not a single swing showed any damage.

Backing up and regrouping with Yuta Toji handed the katana back as the boy responded, "Yes, and soon my connection with Rika will end, and my technique will falter for a bit. Letting it use its…"

"Well if you can do more damage than that then I am out of ideas…" Toji said, glaring at the spirit, this was the first time that his attacks left literally nothing behind.

"Be ready…" Yuta said. His voice caught as suddenly Rika shrunk a bit, her soft whine sounding through the air as Toji felt it.

Something was grasping him. A cold feeling that froze his soul, hundreds of hands holding his body still, his mind growing numb. His chest was heavy, his heart hammering to a slow stop. Beside him, he saw Yuta going through the same thing. The boy's eyes widened as he also froze.

Yuta was trying to use his cursed energy but he couldn't… he was frozen beyond just his body this time.

Seeing the spirit appear before him his maw opening once more he tried to desperately feel for his technique again. Just a single second more, but he couldn't.

Watching the teeth come towards him, an ending that he had faced twice already and avoided twice. But this time he was done, he couldn't do anything more…

Suddenly stopping the spirit's momentum halted as it was hurtled towards a wall shattering the building that it plummeted through.

Standing before Yuta, Toji shook his hand out as he glared towards the spirit. He had felt frozen, but his body was his own. It was far stronger than any technique that could affect him. Whether it was soul or mind he would power through it with sheer strength alone.

Watching the spirit stand he spat to the side as he said, "We need to figure out how to do permanent damage."

"I may be able to help with that." A voice said from behind them. Turning around Toji's eyes narrowed as he said, "And how are you going to do that?"

"You'll see!" They responded as they pointed a finger gun at the spirit that grew more arms, limbs folding in on themselves as impossible numbers of them emerged from the side of the maw that split the spirit's torso.
