Saving The Evans' Family. Living At The Potter Manor. Hurting Again.

James heard yelling outside, someone was in pain. He wanted to see who it was, but Dumbledore's orders came first. James put up his hoodie, closer to his head, and wrapped his cloak around himself. He went inside the house next door. Mr. and Mrs. Evans were standing closely by the fire. They had no idea what was going on outside.

"What are you doing here?" Mr. Evans asked him brutally, as Mrs. Evans screamed after acknowledging his presence without their permission.

"No time to explain."

He held both their hands and disapparated in front of the Ministry of Magic.

"Go inside, Wait for me!"

"Listen to me, young man..." James had already disappeared.

He had completed what he had to. He was supposed to go back. But there was something about the screaming person that led him back to the muggle town. The hoodie was covering most of his face.

"I'll kill you!" The girl screamed.

"You can't do that!" The Death Eater laughed in her face. "When you are on the...Crucio!"

The girl screamed in pain. James was behind the house. It was very dark. There was no moon that night. He couldn't see who it was. He ran towards her, held his hoodie closer. His identity wasn't to be revealed. Professor Dumbledore had insisted upon it. The Death Eaters laughed at her screams of agony. He covered his mouth with her hand to stop her from screaming. And disapparated.

He was right in front of the house of the Secret Keeper of the Order of the Phoenix. He recognized the red hair, green eyes and the freckles in the light of the lamps.

"What the hell? Evans?"

"Evans, What the hell were you doing?" James was shocked.

He was still holding her by the arms.

"They were going in to my house!" Lily stared in his eyes. "My family were going to kill my parents."

"They didn't, did they?" He said quietly, "I took them before you."

She remembered his parents,

"Oh God, I am sorry," Lily released herself from his firm grip, and put her hands on his shoulders, "I am so sorry,"

"Your parents are in the Ministry." He said, taking her hands off, "This is the Secret Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, come inside!'

He stood in front of the door, and waved his wand. The door opened, as Lily stared at the door.

"Come in!" He held out his hand.

"Thank you!"

"I think your parents will stay at the Ministry." He was telling her. "Voldemort was targeting them."

"What?"

"It was Dumbledore's orders!" James told her.

They stepped into the hall,

"Wait a sec!" James disappeared behind a door, He came back after 15 minutes.

"What is the place?"

"The Order's" He told her, "I mean, You should stay somewhere else, You shouldn't go back to your place today."

"Right." She was still confused.

He was now sitting on the arm chair, She sat in front of him. She was still shaken by all of it. He held her hand gently.

"You want a place to stay?"

"Yeah...Sure!" She said,

"There is a spare room, at my place," He told her, "If you want, Sirius is going to be there."

"Okay!"

"Let's go, then!" James headed out, "You haven't passed your test yet!"

"No, I haven't!"

He held his hand out. She took it. They disapparated into thin air, in front of the Potter Manor, in Godric's Hallow.

"Here we are!" She looked at the massive place, it was a large house, spread over a big ground, with a garden on the side. With a shed.

"Come on, Evans!" He opened the door with his keys. "What are you waiting for? There is somewhere I have to be."

He opened a spare room for her, and left the keys with her. He spelled the house with many protective charms and jinxes. She was surprised by his knowledge of them.

"Where are you going?" Lily asked.

"I have to pick up Sirius, Evans'' He told her, "He hasn't been good with apparation lately." He missed out the part where Sirius was hurt. "I'll be back!"

He turned towards the door, and started to go out again.

"Hey," He turned, Lily was standing at the door, right behind him,

"Yes?"

She was surprised, this was the guy who ran after her all the time. Now a year or so later, she was standing at his house, alone, but he didn't look at her twice.

"I realized that I never thanked you..."

"Lily," He cut her short, his hand on his arm, she didn't know about the wound under the arm, "Can we do this later? I have to go."

She was too hurt to see the pained look on his face.

"Lock the door," James went outside, shutting the door behind him.

He stood outside, and rolled up his sleeve. It was bleeding. He placed his hand on the wound. And disapparated.

"Padfoot!"

He was in the shrieking shack. Sirius was lying on the floor, he had the same wound on his leg, like James. Remus stood on the side, with a cauldron steaming. Peter stood on the other side, with Remus helping with potion.

"I got it, I got it!"

The wound burned more than ever. Sirius's screams were echoing through the hollow walls.

"How did you live with this?"

James forgot his wound and pain,

"Ready yet? He asked Lupin.

"Just a second,"

"Okay, now take this." He poured it out in a glass for each of them.

"I think someone had babbled about us being animagus." James groaned,

"What?" Remus and Sirius looked at him in surprise, and Pettigrew looked a little scared.
