Wrong Turn

Somehow the night passed and the morning came. When Jayden's mom got out of the room folding up her hair and yawning, she saw Jayden already sitting on the table, and he even prepared the breakfast for her "Have you…" she just opened her mouth when Jayden interrupted her.

"I've been up all night!" He sighed and smiled while his eyes seemed dead inside.

"Join me, Mom!" He stood up and pulled a chair for her, sat the plate for her.

"Aren't you best son? Hasn't my son just become the sweetest soul alive?" She gently touched his cheek with a smile on her face.

"It doesn't change the fact that I murdered someone, does it?" He was ashamed of himself he couldn't even look her in the eyes,

"How did it go with Rose?" She tried to change the topic, but she didn't know that it only made it worst.

He pushed his seat back from the table and stood up picking up his bag, he was about to turn the doorknob when he heard his mother.

"Is anything wrong between you and Rose?" She asked.

He slightly turned his head toward her, just enough to see her "She's Felix's sister" He smiled "Karma really does throw you at your face, doesn't it?" He added.

He opened the door, his mother was left in shock, she stood up from her chair "What? Did she know?" He slowly nodded his head and left.

Jayden wasn't ready to go to the school and face her, he was ashamed, especially now when he knew the only girl he fell in love with, who actually fell for him too, is the sister of the boy he killed, but hiding was not an option.

He was guilty for sure but not brave enough to admit it in front of her. Right after reaching, he saw Rose waiting for him under a tree, and his heart was pounding "I can't do this" he thought.

He didn't stop, he kept walking until Benjamin, Monty and Ivy jumped on him "Come quick!" Ivy yelled.

It was an opportunity for him to escape her, as he ran away with them she kept watching him go, and she felt humiliated "Am I invisible?" She murmured.

She comforted her heart with fake hope and fake excuses.

As for Jayden, it turns out he qualified for the archery competition being held at their school, Jayden was very good at it, he applied for it before what happened with Felix, and this time he found it as an opportunity, this might keep his mind off of both Rose and Felix, He started practicing right away.

But Rose? She was going through hell, watching him eating, studying, and practicing in front of her eyes was making her uncomfortable and envious, so when he was alone in the practice room she pushed herself in.

"Congratulation!" She exclaimed as her voice struck his ears like the ringing of an alarm, there were drops of sweat already appearing over his forehead.

He smiled at her even when he was dying inside, he wanted to run so far away from her but still, he stayed."You forgot to say goodbye last night?" She walked closer to him with her arms folded.

"I…." He stammered at first then stopped."You what? Answer me! Say anything, did I do something wrong?" She started asking questions, one after another.

"No! You didn't!" He relaxed his shoulders losing the grip on the bowstring "You are not the one who did wrong! I am!" He slowly tossed his head, right before he was about to admit what he did, but then he pictured her hatred for him in his mind, and his eyes widened with tension, so instead, he lied,

"I was drunk! I shouldn't have acted that way! I am sorry for touching you without your consent and I am ashamed of myself!" He placed the bow on the rack and wore his jacket "I will never do that again" He kept telling her lies without hesitating and then he walked away.

Rose froze where she was standing, his words echoed in her ears as she swallowed the lump of tears in her throat, she couldn't believe what he said.

It was only just the beginning, things only got harder, each passing day brought nothing for her but pain, she used to watch him every day hanging out with his friends, and his memories haunted her everywhere she went.

She couldn't help herself because she knew she was in love, and it was impossible for her to move on, especially with such a senseless reason.

Somewhere deep down she knew this is not an authentic reason, she wanted to know what made Jayden act that way because she believed every word he said that night could have been a lie but his eyes were expressing more than he said, he had love in his eyes and that love made her want to know why.

So she decided to investigate on her own, about his character and his interest in girls and all. Because whatever he said he didn't look her in her eyes and this thought couldn't leave her mind for a second.

So the next day unfortunately she had an encounter with the last person she'd want to meet, they both bumped into each other.

"Watch your way, you blind idiot!" Rita yelled.

At first, Rose clenched her fists as if she might punch her but a second thought calmed her "Maybe she knows something about Jayden? That's why she ruined my dress?" She thought.

"Wait, wait! I am sorry?" She apologized.

Rita knew there was something wrong with her otherwise she wouldn't have apologized.

"I really need to talk to you please?" She begged and Rita decided to listen to her. Rita noticed how Jayden has been avoiding her so she was really curious about what she had to say.

So in the canteen, Rose asked things about his character, such as how is he with girls and how his reputation is in the school.

Rita being Rita played the role she was sent to play on earth, when it comes to being mean you can bet Lucifer might be her student.

"I…" She faked stammering at first but she cleared her throat "You have to sit tight for this one" She held her hands gently with tears in her eyes or tears of crocodiles you could say.

"He's not a nice guy! You can ask anyone. I…. let me just show you instead" She picked her phone up and showed her a few pictures on her phone, she had Jayden's pictures with a few different girls.

He was mostly kissing them, they were not fake, Jayden was a bad boy before the day he turned.

Rose covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes were flooded with tears and her lips were shaking, she could burst into tears any minute now.

She stood up and ran away as fast as she could.

"I am sorry!" Rita yelled as she saw her running away, and a vicious smile appeared on her face "I am sorry poor Rose" She whispered with her soft and nasty giggles.
