WEISS SCHNEE POV

"Yes. We're finally going out on a mission!" Ruby cheered and Jaune put a hand on the younger girl's head before rubbing her hair affectionately.

"Ruby." Jaune said.

"Yes, Jaune."

"Why is your bag wiggling on your back?" Jaune asked.

What?

She looked back and realized that indeed, Ruby's bag pack was wiggling.

And as if sensing their gazes on it. It stopped moving.

"Ahahaha… That… becausezweiisthere." Ruby said and Jaune gave the younger girl an amused look.

"The what now?" Pyrrha asked gently, her hand wrapped around Jaune's arm in an affectionate manner.

She couldn't help but think what a great couple they make.

She wouldn't have thought such a thing at the start of the year when Jaune was just a newbie who didn't even know which end of the sword to hold.

But he had shown great improvement since then and has now become strong enough to defeat both her and Ruby together on his own.

He was still no match for Pyrrha of course because she was the Invincible Girl but he was the only one in their class who would last more than a minute against her in the sparring ring.

She and Ruby herself had shown a lot of improvements thanks to Pyrrha's rigorous training and she had little doubt in her mind that they would win the upcoming Vytal Tournament.

"I brought Zwei with me. Please don't send him back." Ruby begged with puppy eyes and she had no doubt that Pyrrha and Jaune who allow her to carry Zwei.

Ruby's puppy eyes were just that lethal.

"Very well." Jaune said, his face uncharacteristically serious for some reason "You'll train him yourself. You'll feed him yourself. And if it dies, then you'll bury it yourself."

"Wha—?" Ruby looked confused at his words and hugged Zwei tighter "I won't allow anything to kill Zwei!" she said with determination.

Pyrrha gave Jaune an unimpressed look and patted Ruby shoulder "Don't worry Ruby. I'll help you protect Zwei." Then she hit Jaune with her elbow "And stop saying such ominous things."

"Sorry," Jaune said with a sheepish smile. "But I just wanted to say those words so badly. And don't worry Ruby, I'll help you in making sure that nothing happens to Zwei."

And just like that, Ruby's enthusiasm was back.

"Jaune. Who do you think our assigned Hunter will be?" she asked as Ruby started talking with Pyrrha about dogs.

"I don't know. But as long as it's not Professor Port, I'll be content." Jaune said and she coughed in order to hide her chuckles.

She was a Schnee and had been raised better than to laugh at her teachers. Even if Professor Port was… a bit too much sometimes.

"Hey, isn't that team LBVY?" Jaune asked and she looked in that direction to see a mop of Blond hair and a long-haired Brunette with cat ears.

"I think so. Let's see what kind of mission they've taken."

Jaune nodded and told Ruby about team LBVY.

Ruby did what was expected of her and quickly used her semblance to fly toward the other team where she glomped Yang in a hug.

She holds back a smile at that as they walked through the crowd and reached team LBVY.

"Hey, Ren. What kind of mission are you taking?" Jaune asked curiously.

"Just a simple escort mission for a family moving to Vale." Ren said in his usual disinterested voice. "Shouldn't last for more than a week. What about you?"

"A Grimm extermination mission in Mountain Glenn. The Council probably doesn't want too many Grimm gathering in that area since it's so close to Vale."

"Hmm. Good luck." Ren said, probably either not knowing what else to say or he was just that disinclined to converse with others.

"Sure. You too Ren." Jaune said and they looked at Yang and Nora who were cuddling Zwei while Blake tried to stay as far away from the dog as possible.

"Let's go, Ruby. We don't want to be late for your first official mission, do we?" Jaune said and Ruby quickly collected Zwei and hugged her sister again before they left for the Landing area where their designated Bullhead was waiting for them.

"Is that Professor Glynda?" Ruby asked they all did a double-take, having no idea that they'll be led by such a powerful Huntress.

"Unless the Professor has a twin sister who is just as hot as her. Yes, that would our dear Professor Glynda Goodwitch."

"Jaune!" she chastised, thankful that the Professor was still too far away to have heard him.

He looked at her and gave her an unrepentant grin and she huffed.

Boys will be boys.

Eventually, they arrived in front of the Professor who looked at her watch before giving them an unamused look "Students. You're five minutes late. I hope this won't be a regular occurrence?"

"Sorry Professor." She said with a bow… that turned awkward when no one else bowed with her.

"I see at least one of you has proper manners." The Professor said sternly and she felt a bit of warmth in her heart at finally being recognized for her manners. "Enter the Bullhead everyone."

All of them quickly climbed aboard the Bullhead and they quickly left Beacon in order to go to their first official mission as Hunters-in-training.
