Johan Anderson, a high school teenager in Japan, along with his classmates, is suddenly summoned to another world by an empire that needs a hero to win the war. Each student gets a job that determines their abilities, but Johan gets a job that seems strange and useless: 'Modern Soldier'.
After the first unit returned, Johan and Philip had successfully taken full control of the castle. However, the kingdom had not completely fallen into their hands; some regions were still unaware of Philip's rebellion.
Johan stood tall in front of his troops. His heart was filled with a mix of dilemmas and emotions. Two of his soldiers had died in this rebellion, and although Johan had predicted the possibility, the reality still felt bitter. All the actions of his soldiers were based on his orders, and that meant the full responsibility lay on his shoulders.
Johan's gaze swept over the faces of his remaining troops. Those who survived—those still standing before him—deserved a strong commander. No matter how heavy his grief felt, Johan knew he couldn't appear weak.
'They depend on you,' he thought. 'You must not falter.'
