Chapter 25

  Lorena POV

I hesitated for a moment, but deep down, I really wanted to agree. The look in Seth's eyes was incredibly sincere, and the fire in his eyes almost engulfed me. However, I knew that my status was insignificant to Seth, and if it wasn't for that accident, our paths would never have crossed. As for me, I wasn't sure if the current attraction was due to the pheromones between mates or if we truly were compatible.

"I'm sorry," I lied after a moment of consideration, "even though you are exceptional, I also desire a genuine emotional connection. My previous idea was that if you were to pass away, I could avoid offending the King and also receive a large sum of money as a widow before seeking true love. I am still young and I want to experience what it feels like to be loved."

Seth didn't say anything, but he just looked down at me with his cold, thin lips pursed from above.
