chapter 8 Dinner party

Sarah traipsed around her room searching for what to where when a knock came to her door. it was one of the house keeper who informed her that she had a delivery.

Sarah was surprised because Firstly she never ordered for anything and again there was no written note or a name to identify the person that sent it. she asked the house keeper who brought it but she had no idea, that it was from a delivery guy.

she took the package from her and dismissed the house keeper as she shot her door.

she opened the package and was stunned to see a white split side mermaid pageant party gown which also had a backless bodice. it was indeed stunning but still had no idea how the package ended up in her hands.

she liked it and decided to wear it since she was confused earlier on what to put on for the party.

she put on the dress, stood in front of the large mirror, she noticed how great the dress looked on her. it was too flawless to let go as she smiled to her self. After about fifteen minutes, that she was done with whatever she was doing, she picked up her phone and dialed Denny's line but he wasn't answering.

Denny requested to pick her up so they can go to the party together and Sarah agreed saying it was a good idea but unfortunately, Denny did not show up. After about one hour of waiting for him, she got pissed and decided to go with her driver.

However everyone at the company was permitted to come with friends to the party but that's at one's will and so Sarah decided to invite her friends.but it seems her friends got to the party before her.

she got to the event space, she gently stepped down from the car and walked into the hall which was filled with tons of influential people including the staffs. she looked amazing which left everyone's gaze at her as she walked elegantly. it felt as if she was walking down the aisle. Most of the staffs murmured amongst themselves about how elegant she looked and how unrecognizable she almost was.

the white dress did some wonders and was obviously too revealing as her hips swayed from side to side. she caught sight with Noah who was standing with some other influential people that were invited. Noah also looked stunning in his outfit which made most of the women present there to go head over heels for him. he wore a navy blue blazer with slim fit trouser, his shirt had two buttons unhooked as always, wanting to reveal his chest which was one of his attractive features.

Noah's eyes swept past her for a second, then came back to her with some speed of lightning.he could swear in his life, that he had never seen someone as stunning as that. even the ladies he had bedded in his past can't be compared to her. without realizing it, his heart skipped a bit, something that has never happened in his entire life for once, he felt something unique and new. his eyes were unable to pull away as she gently moved her gaze to where her friends were seated on a round table, signalling her to come over as she walked towards them.

Emily and Claire made compliments of how she looked "you killed it bitch, this dress look perfect on you" Emily complimented "where did you get it" Maddie asked "I don't know....it just ended up as a delivery package this morning and I decided to wear it because it came just at the perfect timing" Sarah said as Claire cuts in immediately "what? are you sure it's not from a man?"

"mmh....what exactly aren't u telling us" Emily said as Maddie cuts in while she smirked "you and I know that Sarah knows nothing about men"

"no...it's not what you think alright" Sarah responded "it's not what you think? is it about not knowing about men? or about you having a man and you keeping it a secret or not having a man at all because we do know that your betrothed is not back yet" Claire said with a little bit of smile. they all laughed over what Claire said "really.....u wanna go down there right now" Sarah said in a displeased tone as they all stopped laughed "

"anyways, why didn't you tell me about Noah" Claire asked as Emily cuts in "you work in the same company as Noah....

"and you didn't find it necessary to tell me, I thought you weren't interested in him" Claire said while giving an expression of waiting for an answer but Sarah hesitated because she felt uneasy about Claire's last statement and finally spoke while stuttering ".... of course... why should I, he's an asshole after all"Sarah tries to defend herself but was cut short by Claire "point of correction, Noah is my man and I can't sit and watch you call him names in my presence"

Sarah immediately took the glass of wine placed on the table and gulped a large amount of it down her throat just to feel better and that reminded her of the devil she's been trying to forget for a bit. "alright.... sorry about that as she chuckled and continued speaking " and am also sorry for not telling...." Sarah was about explaining herself when one of the tenders interrupted her, informing her that her father needed her attention. "I will be back in a minute" Sarah assured her friends and left for her father.

Sarah's dad and Mr Johnson both introduced her to some influential people who were of benefit to the company. she discussed with each of them briefly, trying to maintain a good first impression.

Sarah and Noah caught gazes on different occasions as she wondered if that meant something or was it just his natural way of flirting with her and that made it hard for her to get him off her head.

One of the business associates whose name was Edward, in his mid thirties that she was earlier introduced to stood with Noah, Sarah and their both parents when he invited Sarah and noah to his birthday party that was going to be held tomorrow night which is on Sunday night. he again offered to have a dance with her and she accepted, they had a ball dance for a few minutes. her attention had left Noah for that few minutes and by the time they found him again, he was wrapped in the arms of a woman. Sarah's countenance changed, she wondered if the lady actually came with him, she noticed how the both of them laughed and how comfortable he was around the arms of the young lady who looked exceptionally beautiful. there was definitely no competition but felt as though she has lost.

SARAH'S VOICEOVER: what I couldn't explain was why his gaze never left me even while frolicking with that wanker

After a while she was called up on stage to give her speech.
