Chapter 21 The Wit Residence

Iris frowned, Levi raised an eyebrow and turned to Iris with an expression that showed his confusion.

"It's probably a different Wit family," Iris said as he started walking ahead. The others continued walking.

"Yeah, probably" Ajax said, "but how many people do you know who bear the name Wit?"

Iris looked at him,"if I have any relatives that I'd don't know about they're probably dead" Iris said and turned his face away. Ajax didn't ask any more questions, it was clear that Iris wasn't interested in talking about his family.

They got to the village. It was a small village, nothing much, just regular people moving around, women and men in stalls, people buying things, children playing outside running around. As Ajax led them through the streets, Levi asked, "this village doesn't seem to be under the jurisdiction of any one of the seven kingdoms"

"No " Ajax replied, "we are just just a small independent village we do small trades to survive."

"Is that enough for you all to get by?" Levi asked concerned,

Pete laughed "oh it's enough for us to get by, our farm yields a lot so traders from other cities come for a our crops, besides Brandon Wit, Ajax's father and his team of hunters kill enough beasts and our team of blacksmiths craft good armour and jewellery to sell to merchants."

Iris frowned 'Brandon' he said to himself,

Levi noticed Iris looking around with a frown on his face, "what's wrong Iris, you seem bothered by something ?"

"Oh nothing, don't worry."

Kara walked up to levi and Iris,

"Hey, guys, Haven't you noticed, the people here they're not hiding in their homes they're so carefree," Kara said.

Levi looked around "What do yo… wait, you're right?"

Ajax smiled, "the war will not get to us, don't worry."

"What do you mean?" Iris asked, "if the army of Kingsland gets to you, you don't have an army to back you up, wouldn't it be wise for your entire village to move to the nearest city, and seek refuge?"

Ajax, Pete and Nora chuckled,

"What other city is left, Nivia was the first to fall under the tyrant's rule, next was the Crimson Sect." Ajax said "and from what you told us Dawnville has fallen. And now.... Curtis. King Steven Blade. His strength increases everyday."

"Wait Curtis?" Iris asked,

Ajax's grip on the boar's leg tightened. "Word got around, Adira Blade, king Steven's last daughter is the new ruler."

"Let's not forget about the recent rumour flying around about him looking for his long lost son." Pete said with a scoff,

Iris' eyes widened,

"Son ?" Levi asked

"Yeah, remember the old news about one of his wives running away from the kingdom fourteen years ago ?"

"Yeah, how could I forget that it was all over the seven kingdoms. A woman escaped the hands of the great king Steven Blade " Levi said with a small smile while Iris frowned even more.

"Well, I think it was three days ago word came from Kingsland that he is looking for his son, it seems the wife that ran away had a kid." Pete said

"Well it doesn't matter, if any army comes to bother us grandpa Calydon will handle it."

"Who's grandpa Calydon?" Levi asked,

"He's the head of the village, he's a nice a old man, you'll probably see him soon" Ajax replied

"So an old man will protect you from the army of the tyrant of Kingsland."

Ajax laughed hard "Wait till you see the old man. I thought he was weak, one time an advanced tier beast roamed into the village from the forest, but grandpa Calydon killed it with one swing of his sword."

"Then sword must be a high tier then,"

"My dad told me it was a king tier sword that wasn't made in these lands. anyways we're here.."

They arrived at a small house, with tattooed roofing, nothing too fancy. They met a woman outside in a knee length blue dress.

"Mother, we're back and we have visitors," Ajax said to the woman with a smile.

The woman lifted up her head and looked at Ajax.

"Welcome back Ajax, who are these?"

"They're travellers, they looked hungry and tired so I brought them home, to rest for a while."

" Wait, let me get your father, he's back from work, you can come in first."

She went into the house. She walked out with a man in front of her. He had short brown hair, eyes almost golden like that of Ajax and Iris. He wore a small vest and baggy trousers and had no shoes on. He seemed slightly muscular.

"Hello father" Ajax said with a smile,"I brought friends." He then looked towards Levi and the gang.

"Guys this is my father, Lucas Wit. Dad these are my friends, Iris, Levi and what's her name again .... "

"Kara" Kara replied.

Ajax smiled "and Kara."

"Bring them in," Lucas said, "They must be hungry, bring some food for them honey" he said to his wife, Lana Wit. A 5'7 woman with black hair and brown eyes wearing a blue gown and an apron with her hair tied into a knot to help her work more efficiently.

They walked into the house. It was a nice small house with wooden walls and floors. They were led to the dining area. They sat on chairs and waited for the food to be served.

Lucas observed them carefully. He looked at Levi's injury, "You need to see a physician for that injury, a stab wound is no small thing,"

Levi frowned, 'how did he know it's a stab wound' "Yeah is there anyone like that in the village?" Levi asked.

"Yes my son will take you to him, but first we eat." As soon as he said that Lana came in with a tray of food in her hand. She went back into the kitchen and brought more. They were eating and Lucas began to question them boutique their journey.

"Well we are originally from Dawnville. We were soldiers and well. After the attack from Kingsland we retreated to Curtis only to be ambushed. Our king is dead and ..." while Levi spoke he noticed tears in Karl's eyes and they heard soft sobs. Levi held her shoulder and pulled her closer.

Lana smiled "Let them eat first dear" she said to her husband "it must have been an eventful journey, bit first eat."

"Oh right father," Ajax said in a loud tone with food in his mouth while pointing at Iris, "his last name is Wit"
