The Arcane Birds Territory

Since the Arcane birds are also of the avian race, their place of resident was populated with dense trees. Hence, the team had to disembark on a flat ground and continue their journey on foot.

Xue Yiran summoned Sky out of her contract space.

"Wow!" Walker exclaimed in astonishment, after seeing the massive figure of the summoned beast king. "I still can't get over the shock I have whenever I see you summon out your contract beast." Looking at the glossy fur of the beast king, it seems to have been living a good life contrary to when it was still living in the wilds. Such a vigorous beast, Walker could only look on with envy.

"I've told you to always invest on your contract beast. They are like your backbones. Do not expect Xue Yiran to be like you who finds it a hassle to spend on them. Take a look at her contract beast, you can see from its strong body that it's well fed. Now take a look at yours." Jose tuts in condemn at the mount below Walker.

"Of course, I do get them some resources. Where else do you think all my money went." Walker retorted.

"Then you can only blame your broke-ass self for not being rich enough."

Sky proudly raises his head when he heard the two people making reference to his strong body.

Xue Yiran climbs onto his back. The rest also began to summon out their land mount.

"Let me hitch a ride with you." Miley walked toward Xue Yiran and smoothly sat behind her. "Wow." Her palm brush past against Sky's glossy fur. "I should perhaps get a contract beast from the wolf race. It feels like I'm sitting on cloud." She continues have a feel of the fluffy fur.

Sky, who felt his body was once again being violated by this big witch could do nothing about it, as this was already a normal occurrence for him.

Tyron, who some minute ago was just about to offer Miley a ride suddenly felt loss of words when he saw her hitching a ride with Xue Yiran. Why did he suddenly feel so sore looking at the two girls riding together? It felt as if someone was snatching his girlfriend away from him.

"Boss- boss." Milo called at Tyron when he saw the later looking backward with a resentful expression. But before he could check to see what he was looking at; Tyron had already averted his gaze and rode forward. "Weird. Why does he look as if he was facing against a rival?" Milo looked backward again, perhaps to see what had made him resentful, but he couldn't find anything amiss. "Or could it have been my illusion." Milo disregards his thoughts and moved along with the group.

Being a place filled with dense trees forest, there were different species of avian type beast using this place as their abode.

"Squawk." A brooding mother Quacko who was nesting on a tall tree branch noticed the arrival of the group from the distance and immediately launches an attack on them. With gusto, a huge fire wave was thrown at them in accordance with the flap of the beast wings.

Instantaneously, Ryker mustered up an earth wall which blocked off the sudden wave of flame. Before the brooding Quacko mother could begin with another attack, its body suddenly turned into a frozen statue and dropped down from the air. Falling from such height, the body of the beast immediately shattered into pieces upon reaching contact with the ground.

"It's been long since I use the ice ability." Miley waves her right hand around, trying to disperse the cold chill emanating from her palm. "From how sudden it attacked us, there should be some eggs in its nest which it was trying to protect."

"There's indeed a nest egg over here." Atlas had already climbed onto the tree the brooding mother Quacko used as it home and saw five brown eggs lying inside the homemade nest. He took the eggs and put them inside the storage ring.

That was among one of the escapades they encountered on the journey to their destination.

Soon, the team of twelve were starting to near the territory of the Arcane birds. Even from the distance, one could hear the loud pitched call of the birds.

Despite being so far away from their territory, Xue Yiran felt a little tremble in her consciousness, as if the later had suffered from a slight shock. Since Susu was still undergoing an upgrade, she would have to thread through this mission all alone.

"Everyone, protect your consciousness. We are already nearing the border of their territory." The moment Tyron warning came, everyone immediately circulates their mental energy; forming a sturdy translucent barrier to protect their consciousness from any mental attack.

The stronger one mental strength is, the longer the sturdy barrier could hold on. Although Xue Yiran mental level was quite low to the others, based on her previous life experience, the barrier she made was just as strong like the others.

They made their way into the territory of the Arcane birds. Without yet being provoke, the call of the birds alone was already capable of hurting people. While most of the bird's cries had been blocked away by the earplug, Xue Yiran could still hear a bit of muffled of the bird cries. This shows how intense the noise in the surrounding area was.

"I hope the contribution points we get from this mission will be quite higher." Gael muttered under his breath.

"Our main target for today is the Arcane birds' eggs. So, try possible to stay out of their sight. Okay." Tyron commanded.

Unlike other birds' species who lays their eggs on the trees. The Arcane birds have a certain peculiarity about their laying period.

After the mating season is over, then comes the laying season. The female Arcane bird would head over to the laying ground, where other female birds do go to whenever it's time to lay their eggs. It would then find a suitable place for laying and then began to dig the ground. Once its egg is laid, the female bird would then cover its eggs with the dug-up dirt and fly back to its home, leaving the eggs alone to hatch by themself.

Although it looks as if the eggs are being abandoned by their mothers, but that is not so. In reality, the eggs are still being protected under the watch of the elder Arcane birds in the tribe. Hence what the group needs to do is to prevent themselves from being discovered by these Arcane bird elders.

The group slowly head towards the laying ground of the Arcane birds. A tall stone pillars was presented in everyone's view. Standing at the sides of the pillar was two colossal statues of a human holding a sword to their chest. Their body was covered in moss and one could barely see the actual appearance of the figurine.

Nonetheless, the sighting of such a huge statue in the middle of the wild brought a huge surprise to Xue Yiran. Looking at the stone pavement ground, they were just like the stone path which exist in the ancient medieval times.

Such a structure couldn't have been built by a beast. Didn't they say that the environment in the wilds wasn't suitable for development? Then how did this place come by.

Miley noticed Xue Yiran interest in the two statue and leaned over to explain to her.

"This place has been in existence for over thousands of years. Researchers have tried to gauge the actual age the statues have been in existence but couldn't find the exact figure. However, it's assumed that this place was built when humanity tried to extend their development into the wilds. But when it was discovered that the harsh environment here wasn't suitable for living, the project was abandoned halfway."

"I see." No wonder such a huge structure, capable enough to be only built by man existed in this place.

"There are four elder Arcane birds guarding around the area." Tyron put down the binocular and inform the others of his sighting. "You all have your invisible cloak with you, right?"

Xue Yiran took out a black cloak from her storage ring. Although the black cloak looks ordinary from a glance, it was made out using the skin of a shadow beast. The shadow beasts are known for their ability to blend into the environment. Another function the cloak has is the ability to cover up the scent of a person, which prevent them from being discover by beasts.

"Let's get going. Also, try not to make as much sound as possible so as not to wake up the birds from their naps."

"Okay." After she had gotten down along with Miley, Xue Yiran retracts Sky back into her contract space and don on her black cloak before entering the ground.

There were lots of shattered rumbles littered on the ground. All the surrounding buildings in the valley had all been taken over by vegetation.

Xue Yiran head over to the flat ground located in the east. Seeing the unevenness of the soil, she took out a small spade from her storage ring and began to dig. After several minutes of digging, she sighted an egg.

She reached into the hole and store the egg away. All actions were done discretely, under the watch of the Arcane birds elder. After the driving the dirt back into the hole, she moves on to her next location.

Not far from her, she could see the others also engaging in the same activities. Looking upward, Xue Yiran sighted a huge Arcane bird beast perched on one of the damage buildings with its head lowered. Her glance was brief, as she knew how strong the awareness of a powerful beast was.

On the other side, Amos was also digging up his first egg. Just as he was about to reach the final layer of dirt covering the egg, he saw the soil moved.

'Huh.' Amos looked at the soil again, but didn't detect any movement. 'Could it have been a hallucination?' He shrugged the weird feeling off and was ready to dig when suddenly, the ground in front of him burst open.

"Damn!" He cursed out loud from the shock.

Looking at the perpetrator of the evet, he saw that it was the egg he was just about to dig out for. Soon after, cracks started to appear on the eggshell. This situation only took a few seconds, when the shell of the eggs fully cracked. The hairless hatchling Arcane bird came into his view.

"Squawk!" A loud piercing cry came out from the newborn hatchling, grabbing the attention of everyone.

'Fuck.' Amos reacted faster and was about to move away from the scene, when a flapping sound came into his ear. One of the Arcane bird elders had woken up from its nap after hearing the cry of the newborn.

"Whoosh." A loud breeze of wind swept over Amos figure, followed by the thud of something landing.

Amos gulped when he saw the huge figure in front of him. Just by the aura alone, he was already drenched in sweat.

He is going to die. This was a fact. He is definitely going to die here.
