Chapter 244: A Walk to Clear the Mind

To be honest, when Sonia realized that Kassadin had gone out to find women, she didn't feel any jealousy.

After all, with his abilities, Kassadin could easily find as many companions as he wanted.

Even though Sonia managed most of the finances, Kassadin was undoubtedly a wealthy man. Going out for a night of pleasure and spending some money was nothing unusual.

However, while there was no jealousy, Sonia couldn't help but feel a bit perplexed.

It wasn't disappointment or envy; it was more about her confusion over why Kassadin would do such a thing.

After all, she was right here. If Kassadin asked, she would comply wholeheartedly.

Sure, she wasn't as experienced as those high-class models or escorts at the elite hotels, but she could learn. She was confident in her ability to adapt.

And when it came to beauty, Sonia had no doubts she was far more stunning than those other women.

Yet, Kassadin chose to go to the elite hotel rather than ask her to spend the night with him.

Sonia was left wondering what she lacked.

Kassadin had complimented her beauty, so her appearance shouldn't be the issue.

Could it be something deeper—perhaps her personality?

Sure, she had a strong will and always strove to do her best.

But that was only her attitude toward herself. When it came to Kassadin, she had never shown that side of herself, always staying dutiful and focused on her responsibilities.

Not knowing where the problem lay, Sonia fell into deep thought.

While Sonia pondered this, her communicator buzzed, delivering a series of over ten messages.

She glanced at the screen, noting a string of transactions, each for 3,000 credits. Kassadin had gone through dozens of women, yet none had satisfied him.

Sonia kept a close eye on her communicator and resolved to investigate who could possibly meet Kassadin's high standards.

She wanted to figure out what exactly was missing from her qualifications.

Meanwhile, Harvey had casually changed his appearance and visited the elite hotel.

After seeing Tony brag about it in the communicator, Harvey figured he might as well stop by and check it out for himself.

Indeed, the women at the hotel were all incredibly beautiful, with a wide variety of styles and personalities to choose from.

However, there was one fundamental problem: when Harvey looked into their eyes, he could see that none of these women met his standards.

Because they were so sought after, they didn't possess the sense of purity that Harvey sought.

So, after going through over a hundred women and still finding none to his liking, Harvey simply told the villa manager and left.

He decided to head back to Earth to see if he could find someone more suitable there.

Sonia, having just finished a bath and wearing a bathrobe, sat down on her bed.

She patiently waited for any new messages. Ten minutes later, there were no further transactions or updates from Kassadin.

She immediately knew that Kassadin must have changed his mind.

Spending over 600,000 credits in a short span wasn't an issue.

What Sonia cared about was the fact that none of the women from the elite hotel had met Kassadin's standards.

Kassadin certainly has a discerning eye, Sonia mused.

Though she wasn't the type to compare herself to others, she had seen enough women at the elite hotel willing to sacrifice everything in pursuit of wealth and status, only to end up miserable.

But that didn't mean Sonia lacked a competitive streak.

She wasn't concerned with comparing luxury cars, spaceships, or grand mansions, but when it came to beauty—well, no woman could ignore that.

Kassadin's recent actions were, in a way, a test of beauty, and knowing that none of those women passed gave Sonia a sense of satisfaction.

It was now around 9 PM, and with no need to walk around the island, Sonia dried her hair and settled into bed, keeping her communicator nearby to monitor Kassadin's activities.

Hours passed, and by 1 AM, still no new transaction had been recorded.

Did he give up on finding anyone?

Sonia found it strange. Kassadin, who typically preferred solving problems with money rather than force, seemed to have abandoned his search for companionship.

If that's the case, why did he suddenly decide to go out looking in the first place?

After all, Kassadin had been living on Xandar for over a year, and his personal bank account had been set up long ago.

This was the first time Sonia had ever noticed him spending money on such activities outside of the island.

But seeing that it was already past 1 AM, Sonia decided to turn off her communicator's projection and go to sleep.

Though she was curious about Kassadin's activities, she had work in the morning, and staying up too late would only lead to her getting reprimanded.

Harvey spent three days back on Earth.

After driving around and finding a few women that fit his standards, he spent the nights with them and then, satisfied, returned to Xandar.

He arrived back in the afternoon.

During his absence, Sonia had continued her usual tasks while keeping an eye on the communicator, but no further messages had come through.

When Kassadin suddenly walked through the door, Sonia hurriedly turned off the communicator and stood up.

"Kassadin, you're back so soon?" Sonia asked, a bit flustered.

"Yeah, I had some things to take care of," Harvey replied casually, noticing Sonia's slightly secretive behavior but thinking nothing of it.

As she approached him, Sonia caught a faint whiff of perfume, immediately realizing that Kassadin must have found a woman who suited his tastes.

Though curious about who it was, she wisely refrained from prying, knowing her position didn't grant her the right to ask such questions.

"Let me prepare some afternoon tea for you," Sonia said with a smile.

"You're not curious about where I've been this time?" Harvey asked, intrigued by her lack of questions.

"You've been on this island for so long without leaving. I figured you were just out for a change of scenery," Sonia replied, still smiling.

"Yeah, I was just out to clear my head," Harvey admitted with a nod.

Having recently satisfied his desires, Harvey was now in a calm, reflective state.

At that moment, any thoughts about Sonia vanished from his mind, leaving him in a serene, almost indifferent mood.
