As he walked in, the Duchess rose from her seat and embraced him tightly, tears streaming down her face. "Edward, I never thought I would see you again," she whispered.
"I'm sorry, Alicia. I know our love is wrong, but I realize I can't live without you," Edward replied, his voice filled with remorse.
Duchess Alicia's heart skipped a beat at Edward's words. She had been hoping for this moment, dreaming of a second chance with the man she loved.
