Chapter 14: I promise.

Mel, Alex, and Steph thought of approaching the boys, as they got along well, earlier.

They saw them- Lucas, Hayden, Bryan, and Brenden seated in the garden. Scarlet stood between Bryan and Lucas. All of them indulged in a talk, of course except for Brenden, who was busy typing on his laptop.

'Humans are not so fascinating as computers, you see.'

" Morning guys!" The three greeted as they got to the group.

" Guys, can you join our group or we yours?" Steph asked showing her puppy eyes to Hayden.

" Sure," Hayden nodded without any hesitation getting off the ground, to pull Steph into his embrace.

" Hey, could you stop feeding us dog food?" Lucas lashed out, " I'm done with it. "

" I feel like puking seeing them get all lovely-dovely as if we don't exist." Mel chimed in.

Alex and Brenden sighed. ' I don't wish to....'

' How childish. ' Bryan thought and shook his head.

" Excuse me," Scarlet muttered, walking away with her phone as she called someone.

The chatter continued as she left. Mel and Lucas saw her leave and frowned. Both in their own thoughts.

" What's wrong?" Brenden asked Mel. ' Why the hell am I bothered??? Maybe because...?? Never mind, I don't know!!'

She gave him a small smile before sitting down beside him,

" What are you doing ?" she asked peeping into his screen and jerked back instantly," I'm sorry I shouldn't have peeped in your screen ."

' Shit... Why do I embarrass myself with him all the time??? * face slapping internally *'

He chuckled at her cute flushed face, " It's alright. You can see it."

" Can I ?" Lucas butted in.

" No," Brenden said returning to his cold and domineering self.

Lucas hmphed and smirked at Brenden knowingly." Seems like someone's turning human." he whispered in his ear before he walked over to Alex and the others.

Mel hesitated to tell Brenden about Scarlet's phone call. She opened her mouth as if to tell something but shut it down again.' It's their life I shouldn't involve in it. Yes, I shouldn't meddle in between. '

" What is it that you want to tell me?" he asked gently. ' I don't know the guy- who is being gentle, he has nothing to do with me.'

" Um, nothing .. actually," she shrugged not looking into his eyes. She seemed to tell the truth if she looked into his eyes hence, she avoided them. ' Fu*k-it has never been like this in front of my other crush! '

" Look at me while speaking." he said and ruffled her hair." You can tell to me. " He turned a bit serious, "You can trust me."

" Ok sure, promise to not tell anyone about it. Unless it's not too essential. " she urged.

' Ahhh... could she get more adorable!!! '

" I promise. " he smiled, " Now tell me."

" Lucas, why is Brenden acting so weird from yesterday? " Hayden asked in a low voice so that Brenden doesn't hear him, " He even smiles at Mel. Did they know each other before?"

" I don't know, but for meeting before that's, no chance," Lucas shook his head, eyeing his best friend. ' Is Brenden smiling a weird thing too? * sigh * Poor guy.'

" Tell him to stay away from Mel," Alex snapped at Lucas as she saw Brenden ruffling Mel's hair.

" Wait did he just do that?" Steph widened her eyes. ' Shit am I hallucinating stuff?? '

Everyone saw the scene in disbelief, " Wow, didn't know that he could be that gentle."

" Wait are you sure that they didn't know each other?" Bryan asked recovering and eyeing Lucas suspiciously.

" ... " 'I don't think I know my best friend right now. It's alright, not all have the talent to understand 'the Dark Prince ' do they?' Lucas consoled himself. ' Either way, I will have to speak to him about this. Is he sure that he knows what he's doing? ' he sighed sadly.

The day went on as they teased Hayden and Steph, got better when, Alex and Lucas went on bullying Bryan. Mel joined them as Brenden had work to do, again.

" Students, please assemble in another 45 minutes. Not a minute less or stay back ." Teacher Wen informed.

" Teacher Wen, how can such a beautiful lady threaten us?" Lucas asked in his angelic tone.

" Oh yes, you must not flatter me with these stupid comments rather get your as* up and get dressed." She retorted 'sweetly ' and left.

" That was quite something! " Alex chuckled at Lucas as he frowned.
