Chapter 4: Loyalty

Erden POV

After the coronation, as i was going back to my quarters. Certain someone was calling me like a whisper.

"Psst. Erden! Here!"

Esteffan was hiding behind the wall.

"what are you doing there? you were supposed to be with your wife"

"Tomorrow, you are going to be an official Knight. I came here to make you swear an oath"

He said while pointing at me. I was angry and confused I started scratching my head out of confusion

"I don't understand, I am stating my oath as a knight tomorrow on the ceremony cant you wait?"

"This is different, this is my personal favor to ask of you. I want you to be the General of the White Knights and promise me you will always be by my side, always be in my aide"

I was curious on what he was going to say so I agreed and nodded in response . He said as he looked at me with those eyes that are like sparks of fire. I kneeled and nodded as a response that I am agreeing to his terms.

"Oh and another thing if anything happens to me, please, protect my next heir with all your life."

I was shocked about what he said. Shouldn't be the king the first priority?

"But Esteffan.."

"I know the knight's priority is to serve and protect the King but this is my personal favor"

I wanted to argue but he cut me off. I just let out a deep sigh. If this is what he wanted then as his friend Ill accept his terms.

"I agree with all your terms then I take this oath with my life" .

"Enough, stand up child you are now officially one of the White Knights"

He softly smiled and stretched out his hand then he chuckled. I grabbed his hand and glared at him

"I'm not a child"

He then pat my head and walked away. His expression as he was walking away as if he is ready to move forward. That's why I looked forward on walking on the same path as him side by side.
