Chapter 28: White Core

Arthur Leywin:

Days passed with Sylvie and me following the same routine of fighting monsters and absorbing the mana from the stones.

I managed to break into High Silver during the first day due to already being at the edge of breaking through for a while now.

Sylvie's core was getting close to breaking into Initial Silver, and her use of Pure Mana arts increased during our time here.

Currently, I'm sitting on the mountain of monsters absorbing the mana from the stones one by one.

Unlike Sylvie, who could just eat the stones, I needed to absorb the mana from them so the monsters stacked up.

Thankfully I developed a technique that allowed me to bring the magic stone from the corpse using gravity and wind attribute mana.

So while I sat on the mountain of monsters, I had a stack of mana stones around me.

Signing, I continued to absorb the mana while watching Sylvie fight in her dragon form.

She was getting much better quickly. She's been using my memories for her magic, and I'm thankful she didn't have an existential crisis after learning she isn't the 'OG Sylvie' as I call everything related to the TBATE Novel.

We both decided to think of that world and this world as being part of a multiverse where they were written as books in my previous world.

Isn't my story also being written as a story? If I remember, ROB said something about it, but I forgot.

Well, it's not like I can forbid him from doing it, and I don't want an angry ROB going after me.

Yup, let's not anger ROB but other gods are fair game.

I continued to absorb the mana while also munching on the fruits I collected. Hours went by, and the small mountain became bigger instead of becoming smaller.

"Sylv! How is it going? Do you want to switch?" I asked her.

"I'm not tired yet. I can fight longer!" She shouted, killing another group of monsters.

Well, then, I should continue to absorb the stones.

I sighed. This reminds me of the other times I locked myself and absorbed all the magic stones, but this time I at least have entertainment while watching her fight.

Now that I think about it, I should visit Remi before she does something stupid like leave the dungeon to find me.

Yeah, that should be the first thing I do after we reach the White Core stage, and I could also introduce Sylv to the Xenos so she could make a friend.

I stopped that thought as the possibility of a male Xenos trying to flirt with my daughter flashed through my mind.

Maybe I shouldn't do that.

No, that wouldn't happen, right? Right?

I sighed for what felt like the hundredth time these couple of days. I shouldn't be so overprotective over my sister and dragon daughter. If they find a boyfriend, then it's fine by me. But he would need to get my approval first.

I nodded to myself. If they find someone, they would need to be stronger than me.

Well, let's not waste time and get stronger.

I started to absorb the mana at a faster pace than before, and the mountain actually started to become smaller.

"Really?" Sylvie asked me with a deadpan expression, probably having heard my thoughts and seeing the difference in my mana absorption rate.

"What? I'm just a good father and brother." I retorted without stopping.

"And what if a God wants to date your sister?"

"Then we would have a nice talk," I replied with an innocent smile while my mana flared with slight killing intent.

"Yeah... Talk."

---

Another week passed, and I had a smile on my face looking at the cracks around my core.

During our three weeks here, my core progressed from Mid Silver to almost reaching White Core. At the same time, Sylvie had the biggest progress going from Dark Yellow to Mid Silver.

It was a massive growth for her, and I could feel she would soon unlock her human form.

During my time stuck in the dungeon, she found out that she had a seal on her preventing her from entering her human form.

I don't know why she had it, but that didn't matter, as it would break soon.

So she has been excited during these weeks trying to break it, and it has been leaking through our link.

I'm not different, though. Just watching the cracks around my core, I can't wait to reach the White Core.

Hours flew by, the cracks became more prominent, and the pure white light started seeping through the cracks.

More hours went by as I absorbed stone after stone until I finished absorbing another one. The cracks spread through the whole core, and I was left with a pure white core.

I grinned while looking at it and feeling the difference between being in High Silver and being in the White Stage. My mana reserves increased by about ten times, and I felt invincible like not even gods would stand a chance against me.

After calming down from my core high, I started to think about my journey so far. From being reincarnated, spending all those years making my core, and going through the assimilation process so my Beast Will wouldn't destroy my body.

I went through Grandpa's hellish training all the years before arriving in Orario.

All the people I met, and all those times I scared Uncle Vince after returning home with completely torn clothes while I was living in his apartment.

Then all the time I spent with the Astraea Familia, from going to the dungeon to just spending time together. Just remembering the spider incident, I could help but chuckle.

Then Bella becoming an adventurer...

Time sure flies by quickly. Twelve years of work, and here I am. The last step would be the Integration Stage, but I know it will take years to achieve it.

So, for now, I think it's time to join a Familia.
