Chapter 72: What Matters Most

Logan

Knock, knock, knock!

I glanced over at the clock on the nightstand, and it was five o'clock in the morning. Peeking at the sliding glass doors, the sun wasn’t even up.

“Who is it?” Lycia asked, turning to face me, eyes still closed.

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of it.” She nodded as I kissed the top of her head and slid out of bed. Whoever it was had better have a damn good excuse as to why they were waking me at this hour… especially after the late night.

Muttering obscenities under my breath, I swung the door open to find Atticus, my father’s Beta, standing there. At least I didn’t have to face my father just yet. But the sight of Father’s right-hand man standing in my doorway so early in the morning was ominous.

“Atticus, I wasn’t expecting you.”

He bowed slightly, his face unreadable. “My apologies for interrupting, my Prince. But your father sent me to fetch you. He needs to speak with you immediately.”
