CHAPTER EIGHT (THIEF AND WITNESS)

Avil did everything in her power to avoid any accidental meeting with Ramon at the park but she still couldn't help but think about the kiss, seeing that the park has failed in distracting her she decided to head home, she wanted to take a stroll before heading home,so she didn't take the bus immediately.

she wanted to visit a particular restaurant that serves Korean hot pot, and it was supposed to be around there, she walked happily thinking about the delicious spicy food she will eat, suddenly she stopped and hide behind a building,looking in shock and disgust at what she was seeing,she saw Ramon beating up two guys, she wondered when he arrived there, shouldn't he be at the park, or had he left before her, after that he took their bicycle and tried to leave but the police came probably someone had seen them and made a report, all three of them were taken into one the police car, one of the officer saw Avil and approached her, she wasn't scared after all she had done nothing wrong and she is a witness, police are supposed to protect witnesses not apprehend them, "hey kid, what are you doing there? "

"Sir, my name is Avil Cross, from Shanghai high school, I saw that guy with brown hair beat someone up and took his bicycle" the police looked at her for some time "are you sure of what you are saying? " she nodded, "yes, am sure, I can go with you and testify" the man looked at her in admiration, he led her towards another car,once they seated they left .

When they arrived, Ramon and the others were told to sit down for questioning, while Avil was told to write down everything she saw,she looked towards Ramon's direction their eyes met, one surprised, the other scornful, he mouthed a "what are you doing here to her?" she ignored him, after she was done, she left to go back to her hot pot search.

Ramon was interrogated first because he kept saying that he was in a hurry, "so young man, you said you saw these two muggle the bicycle from a kid?"

"yes sir, I went after them, before I left, I told the boy to wait for me at the intersection in BeBalo street, you can check there, he is around 12 to 13 years.

" Someone else said you are the mugger, so we have to hold you three in detention till we get the boy" Ramon was stunned, no he can't stay here, he really needs to be at the hospital now, he can't afford any more time here, he tried to protest, wondering who lied against him, then he remembered Avil and the look she gave him, she testified against him without knowing the whole story, is she just stupid and ignorant or is she trying to spite him ?, " sir, please I can't afford to stay here, I need to be at the hospital, please" and of course he was ignored, the police went to look for the boy but didn't see him at all, they came back and told him " okay sir please can I make one phone call? "

"thank you sir" he immediately called his sister, his call was answered " hello, lil sis, how are you feeling.... don't worry, bro had a little problem but I promise I will be with you soon okay.... just be a good girl don't make nanny worry okay?....En.... okay bye" he kept it, he felt anger and hate bubbling inside him, for Avil, how can someone be this wicked, just because she saw him she decided to play good citizen all of a sudden, how will his lil sis cope now, and their parents isn't back yet, this is getting fucked up. if he knew he wouldn't have gone to the park today.

The afternoon of next day, a young boy if 12-13 years was seen making his way into the police building, he looks nervous and out of place there, he sat down in front of an officer that looked less busy and kind to him, the officer observed him for some time before asking him anything "Lad, what is it that you want, don't be frightened, the police is your friend" the boy nodded " I was.. no... my bicycle was mugged yesterday "

"okay, can you describe it and tell me exactly what happened? " the boy started telling his story and when he was done, the man brought out a picture and asked "is this the bicycle? " the boy's eyes brightened up immediately he saw the red bicycle, he nodded, the man proceed to bring out Ramon and the others, "Now son don't be afraid, tell me who mugged you yesterday, among them" the boy looked up, seeing Ramon he was happy but confused on why he was here, " these two, this other uncle asked me to wait,then he went after them, but I didn't see him whole of yesterday so I went home, I decided to come here today and report"

Ramon was relieved when he saw the boy, the officer released him, and apologized to him,but Ramon didn't stay to listen, he immediately went out, running towards the hospital,he took a taxi, his phone rang just as he was a little far from the hospital, seeing the caller his heart skipped a beat and he answered "hello, sir, miss had a small shock yesterday, the doctor is preparing her to go for an operation now, where are you? "

"Am... am... I am on my way, am almost there, tell Kiara am coming okay" the call ended, Ramon was beside himself, if he didn't see his sister before surgery, she won't be settled, all because of that girl Avil, he will never forgive her for this, the taxi driver took pity on him and drove faster, he thanked the driver for that, soon they arrived at the hospital, Ramon gave him a hundred dollar and told him to keep it, he ran into the hospital, he reached just as his sister was being taken into the surgery room, he ran towards them panting, "Kiara, am here, don't worry, I will be waiting for you right here,just relax, it will end sooner than you know it okay, I will be here, I promise " she smiled at him, they wheeled her inside, Ramon sat down at the waiting area and told the nanny to go and freshen up, and also bring some of kiara's necessities.

After 3hours , the doctor came out, " Miss Kiara's family? " Ramon stood up immediately "here, am her older brother, how is my sister? "

the doctor smiled at him, he was a middle aged man, tall, handsome with blond hair, he looked warm and kind, he placed a comforting hand on Ramon's shoulder, " your sister's surgery was successful, she will be taken to the ER soon, you can see her when she wakes up but no disturbance,she needs to rest" Ramon hugged the man out of pure happiness,"am sorry sir, I was just happy" he held the man's hand, thanking him profusely, the doctor pat him on the shoulder twice and left, Ramon called his parents immediately, their voice revealed relief and happiness, they told him that they will be back tomorrow and hanged up,his sister woke up after 8 hours, "I feel weird, bro" he laughed "are you sure, all my organs are intact, it's like my kidney is no longer there"

" silly girl, you are fine, just take your time to heal, mom and dad will be arriving tomorrow "

"okay, when am fine, I want to have vannila ice cream and fried chicken, then pizza" Ramon nodded, he was happy that she was fine, and as for Avil, she will get what's coming for her soon.
