Chapter 2

GABRIELA

I didn't see Sara and Clara again until I arrived at break time, and the truth is I forgot to wait for them as I always did, because the words Alex told me in the morning were still in my head. I hated him for everything he said to me. I already hated him before, but now I hate him even more. I don't really know how they found me on campus, because I didn't even know where I was. It seemed like I didn't catch anything else in my head than his stupid words.

"Gabriela, are you listening to us?" asked I don't know who exactly "What? Sorry I was thinking." I said focusing my gaze on my friends again "What's wrong with you? You've been weird ever since you talked to that guy."

"Nothing is wrong with me, but what did I have to listen to?" I asked to try to get them to leave the subject alone "Since you never told me about that boy, he's very cute, and he's not ugly." When she said that about Alex, it made me very angry because I never wanted to hear his name again in my life, and when he was forgotten, he appears again.

"Sara, I don't want to talk about it, could we talk about something else?" I asked "Because you don't want to talk about him, is he nice from what I know?" he asked and I rolled my eyes "Well, that's why you know, but you don't."

"Something happened to you with him at the other school?" she asked and I denied, because I didn't want to talk about it "No Sara, I just don't like to talk about people like him, that's all." I assured "Sara, let her, if she doesn't want to talk about him, let's not talk about him."

Just at that moment, Marcos comes running and approaches us as soon as he sees us. When he notices I'm not in a good mood, he looks at Sara and Clara to see if they could clarify what was happening to me, but they don't know it, so he chooses to ask.

"What is wrong with Gabriela to make her angry in the morning and the first day?" he asked looking at our friends and then focusing his gaze on mine "I don't know, she doesn't want to tell. She's like this after talking to a guy."

"We just started the course and you already have suitors who want to date you?" he asked laughing, but this wasn't meant to be laughed at, especially if he knew who it was "Marcos, this isn't a real joke. If you knew who he is, you would know why I'm so angry."

"And are you going to tell me or do I have to find out on my own?" he asked, crossing his arms. "I can tell you that. See that boy over there? The tall one with dark blond hair. That's the guy who talked to her." Sara said and Marcos's gaze shifts to him.

"Do I have to meet him, Gabriela? Because I don't see him from behind like..." but it didn't take him long to stop dead, letting me understand he already knew who he was and the reason why I'm in a bad mood. "Don't fuck with me, that's who I think he is? What the hell is he doing here? And why did he talk to you?" he asked with a frown and some annoyance evident in his voice, at least evident to me.

"Wait, do you know who he is too?" Sara asked surprised "Yes, but can you go get something for Gabriela? I think she's in shock." he said taking my hand and giving me a squeeze "But until a moment ago I was fine, angry but fine."

"Please I need something, bring her water." At that moment they leave and we are left alone. He puts an arm around my shoulders and leads me to a place where I can sit. "What did he tell you it affected you so much?" he asked, leaving his hand on my knee. "You're not going to believe it if I tell you." I said noticing how a laugh began to form in the back of my throat "I don't know, try it."

"He told me he loves me and that he will fight for me so I return to him. I mean, first he leaves me for that girl, and now he realizes he loves me? It's funny after eight years he even remembers my name." I said, starting to laugh "But what's going on in that guy's head? Didn't you suffer enough for him already?"

"Surely what he wants is to hurt me more, I can't find any other explanation." I affirmed "Well, don't worry about it, I'm not going to let him do anything to you. I don't want to see the depressed Gabriela you were when she left you again.

"I wasn't depressed." I countered, even though it might be I was a little "Yes, you were, and don't try to fool us, because even though your parents thought you were better than you really were, both Carlota and I know that wasn't true, a facade you put on so they wouldn't see you badly, so don't try to tell me you weren't. I know it is so."

"Can we stop talking about this? I don't want to keep talking about an asshole like him." I said annoyed "Okay, we won't talk about him anymore, but wait when Carlota realizes he's in this college she's going to burn it to the ground with him in it."

"And I will help her, I don't want to see him again in my life." At that moment Sara and Clara appear with a bottle of water which they give to Marcos so he can give it to me and I take it more than anything so they don't have to go to the trouble of going to look for it at the cafeteria.

"Are you better?" Clara asked and I nodded "Yes, I am. Thanks for the water." I said "You're welcome, but now can you tell me what's wrong with that boy?" Sara asked and I denied "I'm not going to talk about him with anyone, so don't insist because I'm not going to."

"You look weird, Gabriela, since you talked to him, I want to know what's going on." She said and I denied, because I wasn't going to talk about him "Sara let her, if she doesn't want to talk, she won't." said her sister.

"But something strange is happening to Gabriela with that boy Clara, I just want to know what. Besides, didn't you notice how hot the boy is? It seems he's one of those guys who has all the girls after him." she affirmed and the truth is it bothered me, but not out of jealousy or anything, but that it was true despite the personality he had.

"Well, I'll leave everything to you, Sara, if that's what you want, but I don't think he's the best person for you." I said and she frowned "Why? What do you know I don't know."

"Gabriela is right, he's not the best person there can be at the university." Marcos replied, denying and giving me a little squeeze on the knee. "So, tell me, what's going on with him you don't like him so much?"

"I'm not going to talk; I already told you." I affirmed and she raised her hands in the air "Okay, okay. So, if you don't want to talk about it, tell me how your siblings took coming to college?"

"I don't know, I haven't seen them since we arrived." I said with a shrug. "But you could tell if they're excited or something." she said and I nodded, because I knew that "Excited that now they can control more what I do, I guess they were excited and like it."

That was true, now I had my two siblings in the same university where I was studying, so whatever I did would probably find out about my parents, but it didn't matter to me, I'm old enough to take care of myself, they don't need to take care of me, it should be the other way around since I'm the older sister, but they don't seem to understand until I got really angry and they left me alone once and for all.

"Well, they doing great, it's just they better not bother me too much, because if I get angry, they'll regret it." I confirmed, because if my siblings could be anything, it was gossip.

"I only saw you once very angry, and you're scary." she said and I laughed "Well, she gets really angry, she's bad, but she really doesn't get as angry as you think." Marcos said "I know she doesn't get angry many times, but that time she was scary, or at least for me."

"I only get angry when they don't leave me alone and I warned them many times not to bother me, but if they don't listen, I'm not to blame for anything. And I'm not scary." I said, frowning. "You didn't see yourself. But you don't always get that angry. You get angry with me and you don't tell me or do what you do to the rest."

"Because apart from the fact I consider you as a sister, I tell you everything, I don't think you'll like it, and I don't think you'd like me to slap you, because it's clear sometimes I win." I affirmed and she laughed. "Is that why you don't talk to me?" asked.

"Yes, that's why. But we always talk to each other again, so you shouldn't worry so much about it, because I will always talk to you again." I confirmed and the smile didn't disappear from her face "Well, let's go have a coffee."

We left campus for a walk, because I was really looking forward to the end of the day and trying not to run into him again for the rest of the year, because I would get angry again, and I don't want to happen in my last year in college.

ALEX

I knew Gabriela was angry with me, and it was no wonder after everything I did to her eight years ago. I hate myself for everything I did to her and it was my fault she left school. Despite the fact I loved her so much, and I still do, and it gets worse when I see Marcos is with her, the reason why I left her, well, the reason wasn't because in the end it was all a lie by Paula. The point is since Gabriela left, I wasn't able to think about anything, I only thought about the damage I had done to her. Now what I was trying to do was get him to forgive me, I'm not saying to recover the relationship we had, because I don't think it's possible, but at least to be friends, that's the least I ask. Although if it were her, she would never forgive me. At that moment when I was sitting in the cafeteria with a coffee in hand, Dani approaches. He was my best friend, and he came after Gabriela left, the following year.

"What are you thinking about so much?" Dani asked. "In Gabriela." I said without hesitation "I don't know why I ask." He replied rolling his eyes, "Me neither." I admitted "So what did she tell you?"

"Nothing." I said, shrugging. "Like nothing?" he asked surprised and I nodded "No Dani, she didn't talk to me, she didn't even look at me." I stated "Do you think she heard you?" he asked curiously and I shrugged once more.

"I have no idea, now I am not able to see what's going through her head." I said, remembering the few times I could see what was going through it, "But neither before." He said "I did know something, I always noticed a bit, but now I can't."

"That means she changed in these eight years." he said and I nodded, because I wasn't expecting anything other than a changed Gabriela "As for not doing it, after everything I did to her it's normal."

"You never told me what happened between you." He said "But you know the story." I responded, because everyone at school, everyone knew what happened between me and Gabriela "That's the problem, I know it, but I don't know to what extent it's true."

"I'm sure all of it." I said "Why don't you tell me what happened?" he asked somewhat frustrated "Because I can't." I assured "It's been eight years Alex; you should be able to talk about what happened."

"I can't for the simple fact I still love her, more than my own life, and you don't know how much I regret having done what I did to her." I said looking at him for a couple of seconds "Since I've known you, you haven't stopped loving that girl. Do you really think she loves you like eight years ago?"

"I don't know Daniel. Something inside me tells me she still loves me. I answered, but I don't know if it was true or just hoping it was true "But that's because you want it to be true. "

"Yes, I'm not going to deny it, but it's the truth, something tells me she still loves me." I said, liking the first option more, "I wouldn't trust your intuition, because it's not good."

"But you know who has a really good intuition?" I asked and he rolled his eyes "Gabriela, you've told me like a million times since we've known each other. You never stop talking to me about her and what she's like, but from what I saw today, she doesn't look similar at what you told me."

"That has nothing to do with it, Gabriela never about showing her feelings." I affirmed "Whatever you say, I only tell you what I see." He replied "Stop being an idiot and let's go, next class will start soon."

Dani laughed as we walked to class. I was looking forward to seeing Gabriela, even if it was from afar, but was what I had been needing for these eight years, and at first, I didn't know what I needed, until I realized I needed her more than my life and I would anything to make us at least friends. Of course, if someone dared to mess with her, I would kill them, because I wasn't going to let anyone do her the slightest harm as I did her eight years ago. I wasn't going to make the same mistake again.
